why don't you just bet like ~80$ on T and jam R? Seems to me that you just don't bluff with these sizes and also villains range seems very weak and hence you'd prly apply max pressure when you have something like 77.

whether im bluffing is one thing. whether he has something to call with is another. i don't rep any air anyway (since I'm checking back midpair and probably AX on a pairing Turn) so i need to bet small to get a crying call. Only bluffs I really have are A3s/A5s and that is heavily blocked by AA anyway

1. I think Zoom will be out next week. I have only 100k VPPs for the year so far. I'm not sure what stakes will be available but I think I can and will 6-8 tables of Zoom 6max. That is when the HUD is released, if not I can only play 4 tables. Right now I'm averaging maybe 600 hands per hour and assuming Zoom runs at 250-300 hands per hour I can increase my volume to 1500 hands per hour. This would mean I can generate 100k VPPs per month for the rest of the year with 100+ hours each month. I would then be on track for SNE.

2. This is against a 36/24 fish. I so wanted to fold, such a ridiculous spot for me. I can't think of worse hands he could be doing this with and I only chop. Board is dry as hell.

I'm getting 33% equity on Turn and 28% on River. I'm pretty confused about the best play here. I'm definitely getting more than enough odds to flat on the Turn but if I call T and fold R I am making a massive mistake against JT. I suppose I was trying to be optimistic, as I might be up against the occasional slowplayed AA (at most 1 combo played this way cos most AA will raise Flop if slowplayed Preflop). Besides this was a 3way pot so his line reps a set so strongly. I even forgot to include TT and JJ in his range so I suppose it's a fold.

On Saturday I went to play a 2/2 live game with my friend (actually more of a mutual friend, we usually play at my friend's house together). I didn't really want to play live since it's slow and dumb and rake is ridiculously high at home games

Before the Game

When I first arrived at the place, I saw Person A playing at Stars in front of the TV on a 5/10 FL 2-7 Triple Draw table. I think I remembered seeing 300 USD in that account but I have no idea who it belongs to. Person B is the host (a big degen who plays 5/10 and 10/20 HU at small unknown poker sites with whales, he told me about his huge swings of 50-70k on some months). Person C is a primary school friend of my friend and Person D is a nit.

5-Max Action

This particular host charged 5% with 60$ cap and rake in 3bet pot pre-flop. 2-3 more fishes were supposed to come but no one else showed up so it was only 5-handed among the 5 of us, with Person A dealing cos it seemed he didn't have too much money. I was busy staring at the total amount of rake and after the first hour there was already 100$ in total rake. Rake was reduced to 3% after the first hour but it broke by the second hour. My friend spazzed off 1500$ within 2 hours, being a complete station and calling off his entire stack many many times. I doubled up but bled away most of my money, only making 130 SGD.

HU Match

Person A challenges my friend to a NL50 HU match but he declines. He knew I'm a 2/4-3/6 reg at Stars but decides to play me anyway. He told me that he does not have enough cash on hand but can pay me back on Stars. I ask him about the amount of money he has and he says $2000. He also says that he played PLO 1/2-5/10 last year and was 100 BI below EV so his money was wiped out. I believed him because he proved to be quite a decent player for someone who claims to not play online NLHE.

The match lasted 2 hours, I was up $200, he won it all back, then I stacked him once and doubled up again after he made a c/r and 3barrel bluff with busted backdoor OESFD and I hero-called on a A62ss9 board with A7 vs his Tc8c. He buys in for another $400 and I win a few med/big pots from him again. I ended up with a profit of 640 SGD (510 USD).

Payment

Before we left the host's house (somehow the host wasn't around cos he went out to do something else while we were battling), A offered to ship the money to me with his Stars account but the computer was locked with the Windows Password. He said that he would try to repay me with another computer and went into the room where D was playing at Stars too.

What would you do?

"Are you willing to trust me or do you want to wait?"
-Host is out and it's 0230, pretty late and I want to sleep so I can grind the next day
-Seems like a decent friendly guy but smokes, and I somehow get the impression that those bunch of friends hang out at shady places a lot like karaoke lounges

Anyway I said ok you can pay me tomorrow, so I asked for his number and texted him. I already did mention my Stars account to him in the cab ride home. He didn't reply for the whole of Sunday and I texted him on Monday morning asking him to repay me.

He asked me for my Singapore bank account number and I gave it to him, then he said he was working late last night and just woke up.

Me: Hey you mind transferring the money to my Stars account?
A: what's your bank account no? My stars account no money.
Me: XXX-XXXXX-X
A: K. Sry I was working last night and just woke up. U also nvr msg me. U going down to the game tmr? Then I pass you there.
Me: Nope I don't play on weekdays (I am staying in sch which is pretty damn far and I do not wish to play live again)
A: Oh ok I'll pass you 140 first and I'm leaving Singapore soon. I'll pass you the rest next month ok? 500.
Me: Ok
A: Thx for the favour. I'll treat you during the weekends to a meal before I leave.
Me: It's ok you don't have to. Here's my MSN/SKype we can discuss some hands
A: I quit poker for now I have a family to support and sch fees to pay. Can't afford to lose. With this mindset I go play sure die. You so rich you can stake me hahah.
Me: You have a wife? How old are you?
A: 21. I have a kid.
A: I'll transfer you the money tmr, Lazy to go out now, need cash deposit. Tmr do it. I'm a bit sick.
Me: Ok.
A: Sorry about that, if I don't want to pay you I wouldn't bother sms-ing you so much already.

So people, What are the chances that I lose my money? I have never really gotten conned before so I tend to be more trusting in such situations but looking back I think I should have been more paranoid and cautious, given how gamblers are so full of shit and deception and degeneracy. When I read the part about him being broke and having a kid, I somehow felt I might be screwed this time. Bullshit? Or trying to gain my sympathy

I guess it's only 1 BI but in real-life terms its actually a huge sum of money and I don't like knowing that I might have gotten free-rolled in the match. Let me know what you guys think, especially those who have experience in getting cheated in similar situations.

Hate to say it MBML,

I would say your going to get grimmed around 90% of the time here.

Lesson learnt, make sure all money is on the table and don't 'lend' money to people unless you are very close friends.

'Seems like a decent friendly guy but smokes,'
what does that mean?

i don't have much experience of private cash games, but in all the games i've been to one has had to pay for one's chips up front. how common are cash games where players play without cash at the table?

I agree with callumN 100%.

If a degan doesn't have the money on the table I wouldn't trust one bit.

He did pay me 140 out of the 640. Hopefully he doesn't go back on his word, he did add me on skype and facebook too so it looks favourable I guess.

Past 2 days I have been playing on some donky network. I Was crushing those noobs but 3k below EV, sigh.... Italian idiots keep doing stupid shit and regs suck (too tight and weak). One dude just jammed Q2o 65BB against my AA and I snapped it off. He hits a boat

Rake is insane though. The rake at normal tables are still ok but everyone is playing at the "No Cap" tables, meaning there is no cap on rake (I think it can go up to 100$). The owners of Enet even proudly declared that they have one of the highest rake structures in the world. Leave it to italians to be proud of such stuff

Wow! how can you play on .it? or is just a network/company run by Italians?

the normal tables are still around. but for every normal table there are like 7 more no cap tables. and the regs who start tables are a bunch of idiots. i still cannot think of any difference between no cap and normal

argument being fish will play indifferently regardless of table is capped, but reg will pref cap tables

zoom is out, too bad it's only in beta mode and only 1c/2c tables are available. there's a max of 1500 players. it feels almost the same as rush, except that the default animation is fade instead of slide. HUD also doesn't work so we have to hope that HEM updates a working version for Zoom instead of only focusing on HEM 2.

I played a terrible session at 5/10 yesterday, making 2 huge mistakes. And you can't afford to make such mistakes at 5/10 really. Misplayed a hand horribly and made a short hand review on it.

interesting read, kind of applied to me I suppose.

"Appear Nice and friendly to con you"
"You may not want to seem like a dick"

While that guy had actually paid me 140 back, he still owes me another 500. He tried to ask me to lend him 150 on stars cos "there were fishes at 5/10 2-7 triple draw". Obviously I was wiser this time and came up with some excuse

I'm playing 3-handed and one guy keeps straddling. I thought he was an idiot, then I started thinking about it more. So +EV in 3-handed game, forces higher stakes IP and SB has to play super tight...

Would you button straddle? What is the max number of players before you would stop doing so? I think it's pretty clear that it's still -EV in 10 handed game.

How large would you raise? assuming it's 1/2/4

button straddling is super +ev in 3 handed games.

I would say between 3-4 handed is best for straddling. After that there is no real reason for it
