The term "outs" refer to the number of cards unaccounted for that would improve your hand.

Example

your hand Ah Kh

flop

Jh 2h Qs

In this instance you have 9 hearts as outs to the flush

u also have 3 * 10 for a straight (10h is counted in flush outs)

also 3 * A for top pair top kicker

also 3 * K for top pair top kicker

so out of the 47 cards u can't see, 18 will improve your hand.

Hope this helps

outs actually refer to the cards that make ur hand the best hand, not just improve it :megusta:

thus the phrase 'tainted outs'

Outs are always dependent on your hand and hands possible, usually in reference to what's needed to win. Example AA vs KK pre flop 2 outs you need another K.

But if the flop is Q J 9 rainbow then then you have 6, 4 10's 2 K's not counting any flush draws.

Outs are really the number of cards left that can possible give you the best hand, versus your villains hand

"tainted outs" are cards that improve your hand but might also give other players a better hand than yours. Ie you make a str they make a flush etc.

Here is a perfect example

Hero Jc 10c o flop Qs 9S 4H you may think you have 8 outs but the Ks and the 8s are tainted outs as they make a flush possible. So you only have 6 live outs. It may not seem like much but it changes your odds, especially in a multi-way pot.

hope this helps
