There are numerous videos of ridiculously bad laydowns out there on youtube, but the most recent one from Premier Poker League V is my absolute favorite:

AKo vs QQ+ AK has 40% equity, against JJ+ AK it has 47%.

vs QQ+ AK he is splitting, a dog or at best almost just flipping for it.

when villain insta-repots, imagine you have a read that means he's strong and at best your flipping for it might you ever consider a fold even with 6 to 1 odds so that you can get it in with a better spot? Remember, this isn't a cash game where you have to call every time, your tournament life is on the line.

Long story short; You can't say the fold on the end is awful without more information. The line on the other hand is bad :f_biggrin:

The second hand AdKd is really easy shove after you've folded QQ in the first one. Seems standard meta-game for this level.

There is a really good video where someone lays down KK preflop at the WSOP. Super super deep though so very different situation, not quite as sick as this Hellmuth style fold.

DaPhunk I hope you're just leveling or youre not paying attention. Look again and look at what % of his stack Frankenberger put into the pot preflop before folding.

I'm almost certain he did that because he didn't want Sorel Mizzi to go through to the FT so chip dumped most of chip to Timoshenko. If you listen to the interview at the end he basically admits this if you read between the lines.

Yeah from memory he left what 92k behind?

Very bad play.

I never level! This is about tournament life! You don't know what external factors there are at work here! If villains range was actually AA, KK 9 out of 10 and 1 out of 10 AKo you'd all be talking very differently! Didn't you ever read the thread on 2p2 about tournament life with AA?

Imagine, you have AA first hand in WSOP, 3 or more players shove in front of you.... Do you call? Pretty sure the always is a definitive no! Unless you're a massive gambler of course and want 15% equity to quintuple up.

If 3 players move all in and they got AK KK and QQ and you got AA you got 68% EQ, what is alot! So my point will be that I wouldn't fold AA in that spot. As I do not expect my oponents range to be TJs QJs 98s etc etc, what AA plays worse against then a pocket pair.

3+ other players. I think I've proved my point! That is all.

i'd still get it in, it's +EV and you're not exactly gonna fold to the money

don't forget the chance of winning 2 flips in a row is only 25% anyway

plus it's probably the only way i'll ever 5x my stack at the WSOP

btw why are you giving them hands 'stead o' ranges?

this what stove reckons if you give some normal ranges then one crazy that wants a quick boom or bust:

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 41.045% 32.44% 08.60% 2974400178 788454924.80 { AA }
Hand 1: 12.752% 12.58% 00.17% 1153501487 15516651.80 { TT+, AKs, AKo }
Hand 2: 14.367% 11.59% 02.77% 1062828547 254397599.20 { QQ+ }
Hand 3: 16.846% 11.30% 05.55% 1035545661 508978612.20 { KK+ }
Hand 4: 14.992% 14.40% 00.59% 1320085524 54462869.20 { 99+, AKs, KQs, QJs, JTs, T9s, 98s, 87s, 76s }

Slightly more seriously when answering your question; the main event is deepstacked and you start with 500 Big Blinds (if I'm not mistaken) so ranges for several players getting it in before you "should" be pretty tight. I think this proposed situation is the first hand of the tournament too so you have no reads.

I don't know if I can post the thread on here, (and I don't know where to find it either tbh) but poster basically came out with an impractical Zynga poker style situation and asked whether we could theoretically fold AA. Obviously the answer wasn't a definitive no, but it was recognised to be a variance heavy play, but then again which move isn't?

Oh, and no I can't remember how many players or the proposed action before people went ai before you but I imagine it could have been UTG Hero OR, MP 3bet, HJ 4bet, CO Shove, BTN Shove, SB Shove, BB Shove. Ridiculous enough action for the OP to consider folding AA due to having "a bigger edge later".

oh, This is my contender for worst fold ever;

Being dumb is nothing to be laughed at. I lost my speech in Vietnam before you were born!

..... I got laryngitis while I was there and my voice-box never recovered!
