This is so true and yet so little people even try to do this. Even in my unhealthy life I'm proud that I'm literally always in a good mood because I choose so. And I'm not just some dummy who thinks that things will always turn out good no matter what but I just think reasonably, I don't worry for the things that I can't change, and for the things I can change I try to make a doable plan how to make it happen.
I've already employed some of your ideas and they work. Yet sometimes I just want to forget all my plans, I don't want to be productive, don't want to do something I like or I need, I just want to forget who I am and have nothing on my mind about my usual day activities. I think this reloads the mind in the best way for a new productive streak. But the only way I've been able to do this is to drink heavily til I don't even remember what I'm doing or smoking weed the whole day. Would you suggest any other methods? Like some heavy meditating, self hypnosis or something? I feel like this should be doable by the means of my minds only without any sedatives, alcohol or drugs, but I just don't know the technique.
Hey there,
first of all, I would like to applaud you. By choosing to be in a good mood, you positively affect other people's lives and live a better life yourself as well. People like you make the world a better place :). I especially agree with your statement I've bolded - you should focus on changing things you can and not worry about the things you can't change.
Regarding your problem, I can calm you down. Many successful people I've met or talked to told me that from time to time, a day comes when they just can't get anything done. They might end up doing nothing productive for half a day before they even realize it. But when they do, they accept it. And they might lay in bed and watch movies or TV for the rest of the day. And we're talking about millionaires and business owners here, not some random $100k salary executive workaholics that might seem successful to the society.
Sometimes you can give yourself a break. When you come upon such a day, accept it. Do whatever you want. If it means doing nothing, do nothing. Forget about the rest of the world. It happens, and it's natural. You might consider it a natural break, an isolation from the rest of the world. While this can be extremely bad if you do it all the time, it is actually way better to accept such days if they come seldomly than fighting against them and wanting to be productive no matter what.
As a solution to your problem, I would definitely suggest meditation, or at least going into the state of self-consciousness or self-awareness. While I do not know where you are from, perhaps there is a possibility for you to go into nature? Going into a forest, near a like, near a sea, in the mountains, or even a park can be extremely relaxing. There, you should listen to the sounds of the nature. Watch the colors of the nature. Observe the animals around you. Observe the water, observe how trees move in the wind. Observe the people around you. Observe the children and the smiles on their faces.
We almost never take the time to observe nature and appreciate it's beauty nowadays. One might find this funny, but I myself find it extremely relaxing.
Again, I highly recommend the book "The power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle. It do not know if it can be classified as meditation, but it works for me, and it works great. It gives you a completely different approach to the world. After a day like that, you should not have any problems returning back to your productive days. If you should still struggle, you should take a look at your vision statement ;).
And thank you for taking action in your life.
