Time to multitable zoom!

More NL50 tonight. I was very happy with my play tonight. No spew. For the first 1K hands I was slightly up, then in my second session I had total card death. Complete flatline. Dead parrot. Look at my blue line. If you're trying to play a style based on getting to showdown with the best hand, this is not good. That'll teach me to pontificate about variance. However, I still have 24 BI. Good enough for me!

Fortunately I won a couple of FPP sateliites. This hand left me slackjawed in astonishment. Well played chaps and thanks for the equity! :f_biggrin:

I didn't really play last night. Well, I say I didn't really play. I actually played a HU PLO8 SnG with thazar. We didn't exactly cover ourselves in glory.

(I'm paraphrasing from memory here.)

He raises the river. I call. He scoops with a FH. There's no low hand.
Him: Hehe!
Me: Oh shit! I thought I had a low! Bah!
Him: This is a high/low game?? Lower than 5 right?

After that, it seemed best to watch the TV with mrsjb instead. We've now watched the first three episodes of The Bridge, which is a Swedish crime series where the main detective character is a woman with Asperger's. Very good, if a bit gruesome. I don't like gory stuff.

And tonight we have the final ever episode of House. :f_cry:

-4BI, and that's it for NL50 for a little while. I didn't feel I played particularly badly, but I just couldn't get value from any big hands I made, and kept getting outdrawn. At least it felt that way. I certainly said 'Whaaaat? Pfffff!' quite regularly. Here's the final hand I played. Seems appropriate.

PokerStars - $0.50 NL (6 max) ZOOM - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: $27.14
SB: $68.14
BB: $96.21
Hero (UTG): $54.81
MP: $14.26
CO: $86.20

SB posts SB $0.25, BB posts BB $0.50

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.75) Hero has K♣ K♦

Hero raises to $1.75, MP raises to $14.26 and is all-in, CO calls $14.26, fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to $54.81 and is all-in, CO calls $40.55

Flop: ($124.63, 3 players) J♠ Q♣ 4♠

Turn: ($124.63, 3 players) J♣

River: ($124.63, 3 players) 2♥

Hero shows K♣ K♦ (Two Pair, Kings and Jacks) (Pre 18%, Flop 9%, Turn 5%)
CO shows A♠ A♥ (Two Pair, Aces and Jacks) (Pre 76%, Flop 83%, Turn 90%)
MP mucks Q♦ A♣ (Two Pair, Queens and Jacks) (Pre 5%, Flop 8%, Turn 5%)
CO wins $122.13

I expect someone is going to write 'Well what do you expect a reasonable reg to flat with there?' My considered reply is 'bollocks'. I'm off to grind out another 10BI at NL25. Over and out.

The Bridge is a Danish-Swedish production

Our date has yet to happen. I think he's playing hard to get.

It's too hot to take anything much seriously at the moment. Watched House, watched The Bridge, donked around at NL25 with little success, chased the kids around in the heat. I'm feeling pretty lethargic at the moment.

That nice Verneer gave me a copy of his book (pretending to be an author ftw!), although sadly it's a password protected pdf so I can't print it out or put it on my Kindle, so I've had to read it off my laptop screen which has made my eyeballs feel like they've been microwaved. I really liked the book. I think it's an excellent introduction to the basic ideas that a beginner needs to beat the micros, which is of course exactly what he set out to write. The ironic thing is that TT and I are aiming for a more experienced audience in our book, and want to write about NL100 and NL200 at the very least, and yet here I sit, struggling to beat the micros, so the book was packed full of stuff that I need to do better. I particularly liked the two quotes in chapter 14, which sum up the gap between theory and practice that I am experiencing. If we ever get our book finished, I think it will be a good next book for someone who has digested the content of Verneer's book and wants to go further.

I will try to play a serious 2K hand session of NL25 tonight and pray for another +10BI heater. Or at the very least a winning session. Or even break even would be nice. Or not losing too much. At least I'm on course to hit my 40K hand volume goal and make platinum status on PS. Ofc platinum star on Pokerstars would be nicer, but whatever.

Mrsjb just came home with a petrol strimmer. I think she may be dropping me a hint. Or maybe I should be worried in a Texas Chainsaw Massacre kind of way? I'm sure you could strim someone to death if they were slow enough. Number two son who has been literally howling with laughter at Home Alone all morning. He's probably thinking about ways of booby trapping the strimmer. I must be on my guard.
