NL100 J8o, river betsize w/ nutstraight?

I think you need to bet BIG in these spots. Villain is a fish, and fish gonna fish!

You have to bet at least 90% pot, and could even overbet something like $67.89 to look more like a bluff.

By stats and actions villain is passive, therefore not likely to try and bluff raise you. He will call the big bet with all straights, likely all sets and most two pairs. If he is really stationy he might even call 1 pair hands!

Fish is fish, well yeah, but often times I find that these boards (i.e where a straight or flush hits) scares them a lot. But maybe I could bet slightly better after all as I will be up against a lot of twopairs in this spot which I guess will have a hard time folding here.

So in hindsight I would probably have made it around 1/2 pot

if fish calls 17.50 otr he's calling 26.50 too. Whenever we are in spots like this and you want to target a certain part of his range and bet small, just get to you amount and click a few more bbs, every bb counts In this specific spot I'd just bet like 35 and hope he calls with all of his bluffcatchers )

I use timing tells a lot to gauge these spots against fish.

On the turn:

Villain snap calls - Either a bluff catcher or a draw, bet about 1/2 pot to get paid, 3/4 pot to bluff him off (assuming draws didn't get there).

Villain calls normally - This is usually something he doesn't want to fold (good pair or med two pair), bet big for value (3/4+ pot), be cautious about bluffing.

Villain tank calls - This can be a bit polarised between weak bluff catchers and strong hands that he is thinking about raising. Bet small with nutted hands to get paid by weak pairs or to induce a raise from second nuts. Only need to bet half pot as a bluff.
