Hey guys, I'm a 21 year old student from Canada. Been playing poker online for about 5 years now, and am going to move seriously into micro mtts for the first time

I received my $50 starting capital on Full Tilt in the spring of 2010, and ran it up to a few k. This was very nice and all, but then Black Friday hit, and FT eventually went down for good in the spring :f_mad:

After that, I received $100 from PS and started on Titan, but my interest in poker dwindled and I barely played at all.

Now I have $50 on Stars, and about $750 on Titan, which is going to be transferred all to stars.

So now it is time for lots of micro stakes mtts!

My goals:
:diamond: 1 video a day
:diamond: 200 calculations in ICM trainer a day
:diamond: 75 tournies a week
:diamond: review each session before playing my next one

All in all I hope to learn a lot, enjoy a new format, and make some monies :f_biggrin:

tried to post the hand but don't know how

Been having lots of trouble winning hands deep lately,
oh well, just have to put in more volume =)

yesterday was fairly productive, watched a video on cardrunners, did some icm calculations, and played some tournies.

encountered quite a few bad beats at the start, losing AK<AQ, AA<KK, and QQ<77 :(

ended up going deep in 3 but lost in some bvb spots w KJs, 87s and AQ and finished pretty much break even for the night :f_eek:

this was an interesting hand, was torn between block betting or jamming...

played $1.50 6max turbos on stars
:diamond:26 games played
:diamond:16.50 profit

Was extremely happy that TFC pulled out the win and are now headed to the CONCACAF Champions League
Any other Canadians/TFC fans out there that watched the game?

Hello there, yougotfelted51!

A belated welcome to our blogging section!

As you said you're a student, I'll have to ask, what're you studying?

Glad to hear about your team winning... Not a big sportsfan myself, but I am always pleased when others have the teams they are routing for do well!

In your opening post, "75 tourneys per week", is that pure MTTs?

11 buyins profit in 26 games isn't a bad return at all, gotta love the micros I guess?

Are you also posting hands in our handevaluation forums for our professional judges to take a look at and give feedback about?

Sorry for jumping all over the place, but there were several interesting posts to comment on, all at once!

Will be popping round and checking your progress occasionally for sure!

Regards,
Richard

Hi yougotfelted51!

Welcome to the blogging section!

I'm really looking forward to see how you're doing. I'm a cash game player myself, but thought about playing MTT's and SnG's. until now I haven't done so but maybe one day.

About your hand. I copied it and pasted it in www.handconverter.com and now it looks like this.

Are you using any kind of tracking software? And if you do you could tell us which one and then we can help you to post hands directly from the poker tracker to the forums.

Best of luck with those MTT's!!

hey guys thanks a lot for stopping by!

@fruktpuff
i'm currently studying sport management (business) in Canada. planning on

75 mtts a week, but I might mix in a ton of sng's for quick $$ and volume.

The micros are certainly unbelievably soft :f_biggrin:, and I will continue

posting in the hand evaluation forums as they provide great feedback :)

@RasTweet

thanks for showing me how to convert hands, I really needed to learn how. I

use HEM2 and copying the hand does not produce a very readable format. I

was primarily a cash game player too, up to about NL50 with some NL1k shots

in there :f_biggrin: what limits and sites are you currently playing?

hi again!

You can post hands from HEM2 directly to PokerStrategy.com
- Right click on a hand.
- Click view
- In the right bottom corner of the screen that popped up you see "copy to keyboard" as "......"
- In "......." choose PokerStrategy
- Click copy to keyboard.

Here's a picture (which is always easier)
picture

I'm playing on 888poker at the moment. But I'm playing micro stakes :( I'm on the edge of nl6 and nl10. I've got the feeling I beat nl6 but I can't seem to win on nl10 YET!

Hey youfotfelted

The hand doesn't really surprise me tbh.

You say he gives up after his cbet is called, why would he bluff you this time? It looks like he is a fish and fish usually don't bluff. If he shows aggression then it's often the time to let the hand go :(

But post the hand into the evaluation forums as well! And then see what the judges have to say about it.

Better luck next time!

I certainly leveled myself into a call.

My thoughts were:
:spade: He likely knows I would shove a ton of Ax hands pre, so therefore I almost never have Ax here

:spade: His sizing is ridiculous here, less than 1/2 pot on flop, then pot turn? Seemed to me like he knows I don't have Ax and is trying to fold out flush draws with equity/low pairs like 77/6x.

:spade: If he has Ax, he has to know that I pretty much never have Ax, so therefore my calling range on the flop consists of pure floats, fd's, and smaller pairs. Therefore since my range is weakish, why wouldn't he c/r or c/c vs floats and smaller pairs that have only 2 outs?

I think my thought process here is a little too much, and that I should just realize that fish are fish, and are not thinking along these lines :f_confused:

oh well....
off to look at potential rental properties and then a job interview later on, hopefully time to grind a bit tonight

Was pretty tired after a busy day and failed miserably to watch any poker videos or do any ICM/Equilab calculations X(

I debated firing up a session, and for quite a long time it seemed like a bad idea. I blew up at various tables with either bad play or insane self leveling :f_frown:

:spade:Fortunately the last tournament of the night was able to save me, with a modest $250 payday

:heart:Started the final table 6/8, but people are so bad and seemingly wanted to knock themselves out

:club:Got down to heads up with 170k vs the 750k big stack....

:diamond:Sucked out huge aipf K5 vs KJ, and he started openshoving 50bb pretty much everyhand. Trapped him on the one flop we saw and got it in on Axx with 97% equity :f_biggrin:

:diamond:Final Hand :diamond:

Not going to be much grinding today :(
Working 8 hours, but will do some ICM and watch a video
throughout the course of the day. Went to a bbq with a bunch
of friends last night then out to the bars downtown, it certainly
was a struggle getting into work today!

As for poker I really need to work on not SPEWING deep in tournaments :f_eek:

:diamond:ended up bricking all 9 tournies I played on sunday which wasnt fun,
a few blow ups in there, which I need to work on :f_mad:

:diamond:today I was planning on grinding at night, but after my job interview at 12
I fired up a tournament on Stars and two on Titan.

:diamond:think I came 120/1900 for pretty much nothing,
on titan i final tabled the 5.50 1500 gtd freezeout
started it 3rd in chips but lost A5<Q9 aipf btn v bb,
and then JJ<KK aipf bvb the very next hand X(

:diamond: one thing I found on titan is that people don't resteal light or push very wide. they play almost unbelievably tight, and I'm not sure how many players make it deep/get any action playing 4/2 for 100 hands.....

In my experience do you got to have a very good reason too apply that kind of thinking in the micro mmts. It could be that the villian has a high status or that you got a large sample which says that he is solid. An opponent like this is a fish and is just betting because he got 3 aces and not based on a range he has given you ;)

Good luck and cya soon at some higher stakes :f_grin:

I have even smaller volume now that I have a full time, 50+ hours a week job ;(
i usually 9-15 table when i decide to play a serious session
finally about the hand i definitely agree, he almost always has Ax :f_mad:

going to put it a session tonight, and then im gonna rely on shipping a big sunday tourney so I can quit my job and just grind :f_biggrin:

Hi Yougotfelted

I don't get why you want to get yourself in that kind of trouble with 7T? And if I was planning to push the turn I might as well push the flop.

He must call your AI on the turn (there is so much money in the pot) BUT All draws got there and almost any T beats you! you only beat T5 and T6.
So I rather push the flop or just give up.

Please note I'm a cash game player and I might be totally wrong :f_biggrin: Just giving my thoughts.
