Play back at Nikachu when he cbets and then c/r small on the turn. Depending on board, usually it will be best to call and shove rivers.

Met him once at NL50 (or NL25?) and felt gutted for not at least 3betting his turn c/r. I did tank forever before folding my KT high...

I 3bet him with A8s button v CO and he folded. Take that you Canadian wisecracker with your amusing bunnies and your inability to say 'out' properly!! _cool: This just makes me remember that another benefit of playing on Full Tilt was that I got free Cardrunners. (Am I allowed to say 'Cardrunners'? Do I have to say 'an excellent rival coaching site, but not ofc as good as PS'?)

Wtf do I do here? Nothing on Villain. Is it a 'So many draws he could have! I have to get the money in now!' kind of a spot, or an 'Ooooo! That board hits his range so hard! I fold!' type of situation, or is it time to go 'Shit! Shit! I have no reads! We're deep! Aaaargh! Help! No idea what to do! Let's peel one and see what happens.' :f_cry:

No. The approved text is: "...I got free access to this other training site which had no value because it sucked so hard."

That site does suck imo... My goal was to learn poker while watching them but all I've learned was that people suck at poker. It boosts your confidence but if you also suck it doesn't matter.

@hand: muck muck muck muck muck.

Meh, do I not like that spot.

Without any info on villain I think Manu is right.

He likely has a pair + T (flipping)

Or set/straight (miles behind)

There is no fold equity in shipping it against his likely range and playing passively gives his draws the chance to get there and as such means we are playing incorrectly.

In reality, I'd probably call the flop raise and fold to his turn bet - but I have weaknesses.

fold.

edit: sorry, just notice I wasn't very explanatory. I think that hand is to decide on flop. Just calling is inviting him to push any turn, and you are losing tons of money there. Even hitting a K wouldn't make you happy, so if there is going to be a fight for that pot it has to be now. Would you commit with that flop? I don't think it would be a good move v. unknown. Even if he is bluffing, he is cashing on his position, so nothing you could do. He's got you. Bad flop for you, good flop for him, even if he doesn't have it. Just don't forget to do the same play he is doing when the time is right, and you are in his position, and that will balance it out

Well quite. I did fold, but you know, I'm raising that flop in his position with pretty much anything. I wonder what stakes you have to be playing at before you can 3bet?

you mean 3b flop? Because I thought of that, but then I saw you would be committing yourself anyway. If you were deeper though...

(My spewy imagination helps me visualize that, indeed, you many times raise there. So even more of a reason to let it go, you've got it payed many times over, lol)

Well, there are plenty of pages of stuff. Not quite a book yet.

[18:45:24] jbpatzer: I have decided that tonight I will run like god
[18:45:38] EmanuelC16: (rofl)

I almost managed it.

PokerStars - $0.25 NL (6 max) ZOOM - Holdem - 6 players

Hero (BTN): $40.25
SB: $22.41
BB: $28.48
UTG: $29.17
MP: $12.86
CO: $29.02

SB posts SB $0.10, BB posts BB $0.25

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.35) Hero has 7♥ 8♥

fold, MP calls $0.25, CO raises to $1.25, Hero calls $1.25, fold, fold, fold

Flop: ($3.10, 2 players) T♦ 7♣ 7♠
CO bets $2.19, Hero calls $2.19

Turn: ($7.48, 2 players) 7♦
CO bets $5.28, Hero calls $5.28

River: ($18.04, 2 players) 6♥
CO bets $12.00, Hero raises to $31.53 and is all-in, CO calls $8.30 and is all-in

Hero shows 7♥ 8♥ (Four of a Kind, Sevens) (Pre 23%, Flop 91%, Turn 100%)
CO mucks K♠ K♣ (Full House, Sevens full of Kings) (Pre 77%, Flop 9%, Turn 0%)
Hero wins $56.64

Sadly, it was not to continue in this vein. I made a loss with AA, ran KK into AA, QQ into KK, and yet still made 2.5BI in 2K hands. I felt pretty good about my game actually, or at least better than usual. I think I may be moving from 'often has no idea what to do' to 'sometimes has no idea what to do'. This is progress.

It's our Village Jubilee Party tomorrow. If the Village Jubilee Decorations are anything to go by (one piece of red, white and blue tinsel hung over the church noticeboard), it should be a real humdinger. I'm slightly worried that I'm going to have to meet and be nice to the bloke up the road whose teenage son I called an 'obnoxious cunt' last year. I don't think anyone else likes them much either, but they're probably not quite as forthright about their views to people's faces as I am. We shall see.

Finally, here's a textbook example of how to extract value. I was impressed. Well played sir!

No meetings tmr which means I can focus on our book. I didn't follow the blog much last weeks ... have there been interesting (zoom) hands lately I could use for in depth analysis and discussion for the book? if so, pls ship me blog pages :)

In case anybody knows of very interesting (zoom) hand discussions on any forum, feel free to let me know. It doesn't hurt to write about a few hands that haven't been played by JB if they help us getting a point across for a specific section of the book. NL25 - NL100. Ofc its also fine if you played them yourself. If you have one specific general question about FFG you didn't find an answer yet, its also fine to ask now ;)

Sry JB for spamming your blog, but its for a good cause :]

edit: By "hand" I also mean including all metagame/dynamic/history infos, notes and stats you got on all plrs involved in the hand + detailed infos on hero.

editedit: Focus on zoom hands (or an old rush hand would be possible as well i guess) since it will be for the FFG section. However, if you feel like you have a sicko std hand to share as well, feel free.

I'm interested by your call for sure, I'll wait for the spoiler though..

Was it an instadonk? How long did he think before each call?

How much would you have called?

I don't think he took long on any street. I think I would have called something a bit bigger too. It just looks bluffy to me, the river doesn't complete any draws, and is he really check/calling two streets with any hand that has a T in it that calls preflop?

I think he is repping 65s.

He does not c/r turn because he does not put you on fd but overpair and hopes you improve on the river. He leads out on river because he thinks you will cold call 88-99 (with which you could check behind) and raise with TT allowing him to stack you.

Or it could be a random bluff.
