Alright, fresh back from training, planning on my second plohu coaching some time this week.

I played a 200 hand session against quite a loose/aggressive opponent, ended up losing a few stacks to him but felt pretty good overall about it. He started off 3-betting about 60% and ended up at 40, although I stayed calm I'm not sure I played back enough and maybe let him walk a little too much over me so I'm going to try convert that session into a video.

Week of the 21st of May

-6 Kickboxing/running sessions this week

Training is going well, my knee is bruised up and I feel amazing.

-30 minutes reviewing spots at the end of the day

-Receive my second PLOHU coaching

-40 minutes of Chinese 6 days a week

-Sound out my thought processes while playing

When I made my first video for my plohu coach I found I played so much better when I planned out loud. Normally in some spots where the opponent could reraise and put you in a tough position I kind of just *hope* that it won't happen whereas an out-loud dialogue forces you to account for this.

Happy Hunting,
TerrorBlade

No info on the headphones in this week's post?!
Was looking forward to hearing how sick they were...

Week of the 21st of May

Had a really busy week with an extra rehearsals & a choir performance on sunday which, when sandwiched between lunch and dinner with friends took up my entire sunday and left me pretty shattered. Ended up sleeping in extremely late on monday and getting pretty much jack all done except cleaning my room and running some errands.

Denon AH-D2000 headphones

I got my new headphones! They're aren't worlds apart from my sennheiser pc350s but I'll make the comparison for anyone who is interested. The pc350s aren't great for listening to DnB/house/trance/dubstep and have a really subdued bass impact and basically no "sub" bass (a term I didn't understand until I purchased the denons) which is what drove me to do the bass mod for them (which is basically open them up an drill a couple of holes in there). I feel I went a little too far and the bass became a bit uncomfortable, not to mention it just felt artificial. Also the earpads had nearly completely disintegrated and tbh they weren't the most comfortable headphones for a glasses wearer.

The Denon's however... seem to just sit there and wrap around my ears like a soft blanket. I can wear them all day. As for the sound, I find the default pc350s kinda tinny (my bro has an unmodded pair) and the modded pc350s relentlessly assault my eardrums after wearing the denons. They are regarded as a slightly bass heavy 'phone but to me it's exactly the balance I was looking for. As far as closed headphones go the soundstage is better and I don't feel as trapped in a small space as with the 350s. That being said I have never owned a pair of open headphones but that is definitely on my to-do list at some point, perhaps the AKG-Q701 or Sennheiser HD600. For now I'm happy with what I've got =) If anyone has any recommendations/input regarding any of the headphones mentioned feel free to hijack my blog!

New glasses!

As we speak, my new frames are being sent away to Australia to be fitted with lenses. Here's a picture of me wearing the frames when I took a few away to try over the weekend! After much agonising these were the pair I settled on. I know what you're thinking, how could he possibly look any more baller?

-6 Kickboxing/running sessions this week

6/6

-30 minutes reviewing spots at the end of the day

4/5

-Receive my second PLOHU coaching

Deferred to this week, wasn't able to book a time that worked

-40 minutes of Chinese 6 days a week

5/6

-Sound out my thought processes while playing

Spectacularly failed this one harder than I ever thought it possible to fail. Such a great habit to get into but it more or less slipped my mind constantly last week.

Week of the 28th of May

Last week of the month, want to make it solid. It has been an extraodinarily rough couple of months and I feel like it's so much harder to win lately and my winrate has been awful at flhu. I'm probably going to get some FLHU coaching.

-6 Kickboxing/running sessions this week

-30 minutes reviewing spots at the end of the day

-Receive my second PLOHU coaching

It's booked in.

-Book a session with FLHU coach

-40 minutes of Chinese 6 days a week

-Sound out my thought processes while playing

Go well,
TerrorBlade

<3 Louis Theroux - a man incapable of feeling shame and/or fear at asking the most pointed questions of people probably not used to having pointed questions asked of them. And now a TB lookalike to boot - he's reached his peak.

Ah god..

Someone I respect very much told me today that "If you do something 90% of the time, it's a bitch, if you do it 100% of the time it's a habit".

Sosososo true..

A couple of weeks ago after the LAN weekend I came down with pretty bad flu (which still hasn't completely gone away) which just left me aching and generally awful. I had to miss out on exercise for a full week and since then have sporadically visited the gym but I can't even remember what it's like to go for a run anymore.

When I don't exercise, I can't be bothered to do much of ANYTHING! General mood is lower, cbf attitude, hey I'll just watch some tv shows while I wait for opponents, hey I'll just watch some tv shows while I play 2 opponents...This clearly extends to such things as blogging and goal setting, which feeds back on itself. Le sigh.

The point of this blog was to iteratively learn from my mistakes and just because I falter from time to time doesn't mean I've lost all I've gained thus far, and it's there to draw on when I need it. In that vein I'm going to return to modest goals and a couple of things that I thought I didn't need any more for routine's sake but in reality that probably isn't the case.

Poker is so much more fun and mentally rewarding when it's the only thing you're focusing on at a point in time. I had let slide in the last couple of months that it's *okay* to watch some day9 dailies or modern family while playing but it just doesn't work, just leads to breakeven play, what a goddamn waste of time... Oh well, PROGRESS over PERFECTION.

I'm not going to ramble for too long, I am pretty exhausted after my final night of basic counsellor training, that's 4 months since I started at Youthline and the journey is only really just beginning. Technically I can begin taking calls (omg) within the next couple of weeks or so, and the next *phase*, called "Transition" begins on the 17th of July where we deepen our understanding of various topics and review our experiences either listening in to calls or taking them ourselves. Feels like it was only yesterday I came back from a feel good session with a bunch of seemingly cool strangers and tonight I came back home after going through this journey with a bunch of truly wonderful and special people whom I look forward to learning and working with as we go forward.

I'll cut to the chase for some basic goals to get me restarted.

Week of 19th of June

-Morning walk for some light exercise and clarity, great way to organise my thoughts and think about what I want to get done that day.

-Kickboxing/run every day, there is no reason except laziness that can prevent this, I'm committed to reset this habit.

-4 chinese learning sessions before the end of the week, horribly behind my initial projection for this so gotta get back on track.

-Book in my next PLO coaching session. I've been quite busy in the weekday evenings lately and that's the only time I can get sessions with my coach so I have to book ahead to make sure this happens. So easy to get my schedule filled up and have to wait till next week (which never comes).

-DON'T FUCKING MULTITASK WITH POKER FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY AND RIGHTEOUS. I had a pure poker day last week and it was simply delightful, whenever I split attention it feels like a chore.

Just gonna keep it simple and roll with these for now, time for much needed sleep.

Take care,
TerrorBlade

Hey dude, just popped in to say I was working on Arney Rd yesterday, and I'm pretty sure I seen you walking past. Then a couple hours later, I def. saw you drive past in your newish car. We're installing the fibre for the ultrafast broadband, so you can get hustling/grinding faster. If you're out walking next week, keep an eye out for me. I'll be the one with ginger hair in a ditch up past my waste.

bazerk omg!!! I had no idea. If you see me again say hi! I will be walking this week in the mornings so I guess we might run into each other =)

Winter certainly sucks balls man, my brother caught my disease and he's been complaining all week about how much his face hurts, hopefully that's me done for the year D:

What a good week I had! Lots of time with friends, carved up country music club duet style with a good friend of mine from the AYC, AND I went on a date on friday which went great _cool:

Goal-wise this week was actually pretty good. Managed to walk every morning except saturday where I legit forgot. Kickboxing or ran every day and my whole body is pleasantly aching now, my sickness has completely left me and I'm ready to smash next week.

Now, I tried to book in a plo coaching session but our schedules don't align for the next couple of weeks, so I'm gonna have to be quite studious with video watching.

To top it all off I'm actually getting this blog out on SUNDAY with enough time to read before bed. Ah...

Week of 25th of June

I really like the way all of the goals I had last week fit in to my daily routine and give it that structure

-6 chinese sessions

-Kickboxing/run 6 days

-Morning walk 7 days

-Continue not multitasking during sessions

-Review 3 plohu videos

SPECIAL BONUS GOAL FOR THE YEAR

So a while back I cleaned my room and my car, now I need to clear out the closet of all useless items and do another clothes purge so I can begin working on the real project, cleaning out the....garage. Over the past few years, what was a double garage now has room for my brother's scooter and not much else. As it stands, all the stuff I've been storing down there serves as an anchor, keeping me locked into this place. If I ever want to move out or go overseas for several months it needs to be gone.

-Completely clean out closet and sort through clothes to donate this week with the intention of moving on to the garage to begin that process.

Hey dude, so stoked to finally meet you today (yes subscribers, he does do his morning walks). You're a lot taller than what I imagined. My work mates were bugging out that I play poker for real $ online, but they lost their minds when I told them you do it for a living. Will let you know when fibre's up n running in your 'hood, and prices and shit (hopefully not $160/month like rumoured).

see ya round dude. _cool:

@chenny: yea dude should be in orakei pretty soon, though not sure if my crew will be the ones to install it
