Im not sure how many rooms you played at but stars definitly isn't the toughest field. Ipoker is a total nitfest and i highly doubt the games there are softer then on stars, just a bunch of nitty RB grinders due to very high rakeback.

Party isnt that much softer either, probably the same fish/reg ratio with regs being a bit better on stars, but the rake is almost 50% higher and RB is almost 50% lower and on top of that their software kinda sucks :)

888 is really super soft but for good reason since you can only play like 300 hands/h and rb is non existant so you need like 5 times high winrate to get the same hourly.

You also have to consider the traffic and even if the site has softer games how likely it is to get 12 good tables running. If your somewhat decent at table selecting you can get 12 good tables at stars pretty much 24/7. Right now on party there are only 6 tables running on nl50-200 combined.

Rake on pokerstars is the lowest

stop fooling other ps members you stars fanboys/shills/nobs?. rake on stars at microstakes is not the lowest. lowest rake from partners room is on cake, even if you do not add rb. with rb you will bet lower rake on some others. Do your math and stop writing bs. And those wrtings: "OH its to small sample, on 888 it should be 100/14 bb" bs man. with TAG style it wouldn't be more then 10bb.
And that's only if you talk about partners rooms. There is one poker room that do not rakes pots smaller then 1 $. So people don't be fooled by "smallest rake on the market", thats only stars commercial. Do your own math, and don't believe those fanboys in forums. Well you shouldn't trust poker forums to much if to be honest.

I was looking at this thread just now, and it struck me that although rake certainly is a factor, it is not really the most important one when choosing a room.

Other factors (in no particular order) are:

  • numbers of players
  • level of skill of the players
  • game selection
  • do you like the software
  • bonus clearing terms
  • frequency and quality of promotions
  • how good is their customer support
  • ease of depositing
  • (and more importantly) ease of withdrawing

That is all I could think of right now.

Rake is just one factor among many that make a good room.

If slipkn6t says "14bb/100" than it's 14bb/100, I'm sorry(

~10+ millions hands sample (6th April - 20th June).

ok, let's ignore the statistics by pokerstrategy (500k hands sampe) and by slipkn6t (10 million+ hands sample), let's trust Vygantas82 (0 hands sample). Vygantas82, please tell us what's the average rake on nl10 SH in 888poker?

Actually you're wrong. On that 10 million hand sample size the average rake is indeed 14bb but the average player is playing 31/15 style which means he rakes twice as much as someone playing 15/12 style. This pretty much means that that more your nitting it up the less rake your paying and the loser you players are paying way more rake then you do. Some 80vpip fishes are actually raking 20bb+/100 while you will only be raking 10bb/100.

Basically the loser you play the more rake you pay in terms of bb/100. Its pretty much pointless to look at how much you rake on each site in terms of bb/100. What you have to look at is rake % and rake cap.

MatejM47, that indeed makes sense. I'll do some research on that after a cup of coffee.
OK I took five 15/12 regulars and combined their stats in one alias like if its one player. And did the same for five 31/15 players.
Five regulars played 138005 hands and paid $1013.69 rake
=>
7bb/100 rake _cool:
Posting their profits graph too.

Five fishies played 61377 hands and paid $811.42 rake
=>
13bb/100 rake :f_frown:

I also grouped all 75+ vpip players with 1k+ hands into one group (total 24 players):
they played 62676 hands and paid $2352.13 rake
=>
38bb/100 rake :f_o:

Don't be a fish, play tight poker! _thumbsup:

that's for noobs that don't know how stars "True Percentage Rake" rake system differs from incremental rake system that other poker sites use.

It will be 5 % on average because stars rakes every penny till rake cap in pot and rounds half to even. so if rakecap is lets say 1 $ and rake 4.5% stars takes same 5 ct (5 %) that most sites at that limit do.

lol if this helps i have 2 graphs one of

5NL at stars playing 16-24 tables = 35k hands -5 buyins.

and another one of

10NL at 888 poker playing 1-6 tables( with leet fish hunting table selection) = 4k hands +25 buyins.

That's the diff between mass tabling with robotic strategy vs playing looser vs fish and knowing when you have them beat and knowing they will call down 2x pot bet with 2nd pair.
