Thumbs up to this.
Do I have your skype somehow ? If not add me in the community.
Thanks for your reply!
First, yes this is my real name (Romanian that is ♦). No meaning in it, though!
Second thanks for the reply and advice, i'll slowly start learning my way from FL to NL.
Lastly, FL is not (yet a dying game, the the traffic (Stars i mean) is bigger, almost double than it was an year ago, so that is not the problem, the thing is that i am doing FL for more than two years now, make a decent living out of it, nothing fancy though and a change should be made: either NL or moving to 3/6 or higher!

Go higher if you like the money you're making and start NL as a side project on micro limit, see if you like it and then make a decision. You can always do both before playing NL full time.
hey pleno1
I havent read whole post yet, but i'll do that for sure. Thanks for answers so far
I'm going to copy your hud for sure. Forgive me if those questions already answered
1) How do you select your tables? what tables are unconfortable for you?
2) I'm playing Nl10 and trying nl20. So far +600eu. Do you think i should invest money in some poker software like "notecaddy" "leakbuster" "tablescanner". I bought only HM2 manager so far
cheers
Hey pleno,
great efford and nice stuf so far. ![]()
Do you think it is possible to have good succes (I know it is possible, but how moch harder would it be) on NL25+ with no HUD? What do we need to focus on?
I'm currently on PKR (clearing FDB) and sadly HEM does not work there for multiple tables. But the player pool is pretty bad, so for now it's OK.
EDIT:
What C-bet sizing do you use
a) on dry boards (IP and OOP if it is different)?
b) on drawy boards (IP and OOP)?
Hi pleno1, this is a super helpful thread, really like it.
Few question;
can you share a screenie with your HUD ? how it looks on the table.
I used the stats you use and it looks overloaded, like it's too much.
I play zoom btw, and wonder if really all those stats are necessary
Cheers,
Boris.

Look at page 2 of this thread.
it shows his HUD options/preferences.
I meant actually a screenshot from a table in Action
Hey pleno1,
It's a huge motivation to read your posts and to feel how successful you are in life.
One question. Recently I had a terrible session (playing NL100 6max). The problem is that even though I ran badly, I also made many unjustifiable mistakes which I simply cannot do if I am thinking about being good at poker, which is important 'cause there is also a possibility that it could be my source of income in the future. This really shook my confidence since I really do want to do good.
It has happened to me in the past, and usually this works as a cold shower, because after such periods I tend to come to grips with myself by starting to play and improve way better.
But this one is kind of hard as after the session I was feeling like a complete fish and felt like "what I am doing in NL100 if I play like NL5 fish".
How would you advice to cope with this?
BTW, will see ya at hand evaluation forums.
Thanks in advance.
Hey pleno,
Realized I hadn't actually thanked you for the effort you're putting in to this thread, but I guess the fact you love poker means you're enjoying it!
My questions here are about evaluating sessions. This is somewhere I always struggled. Helped when I bought leak buster but that's more total play rather than sessions.
How do you pick which hands to review, and what are you looking at in.them?
Hey guys,
Sorry didn't reply tonight. I was playing an Ept satellitek and ended up shipping it after a 2 hour Hu match.
Will get back on it tomorrow.
Good night all
whats the difference between an open raising hand and an iso raising hand?
granted that a fish will limp call and c/f the flop almost always thus ATC is a good iso raising hand IP.
but what if they have a very small c/f on flop. what can you consider as a good iso raising hand?
any suited broadways, pp? or do you include suited connectors?

Oh cool, I have some Romanian friends here at PokerStrategy, all really nice guys.
When I say dying, I meant that the amount of new material you can learn is always going to be capped because, well the betting is capped.

Hi Tombic,
I mentioned earlier in the thread, but I really don't table select, I just sit and play. It's definitely a leak and something that is probably to do with my ego. I will definitely start looking to table select, especially when playing higher. When I have took shots at 2knl, I've literally not even looked at who was on the table and just sat down and played. It's definitely wrong but at the lower and medium stakes I can get away with it.
In general, if your filters have all the possible tables you can play at, then just order them from biggest average pot and go from there imo.
2) Sick, nice results mate. HM2 should suffice when playing smaller limits, you should however learn how to use HM2, so watching some of the training videos from people such as Bogdan is definitely going to help you out there. Having a great HUD is also so so important, glad to see you are going to use the one I recommended.
So whats the plan now then? When will you start shot taking NL50? Do you think you're ready yet?
hey pleno congrats on the ship ♦
i know you said thinking in ranges comes naturally from experience, but i seem to have some problems where i use people's betting patterns/sizes and the flop texture to determine their range.. and that normally results in me thinking in terms of specific hands which is not productive. do you have any advice on how to work on ranges? what is your thought process throughout a hand preflop then on the flop?

Hey,
I think you can have success at NL25+ with no HUD, however its definitely going to damage your win rate not using one. If you're winning at 2bb/100 at NL25 with no HUD then you would probably win at 8bb/100 with a HUD. Not only this but you also can play more tables easily if you use a HUD.
When using a HUD you can see very basic stats such as steal % and then work from there, not having a HUD is like going blind into battle, and I don't think any blind guys won any battles against guys in armour.
Just read you're on PKR, this changes things as the players are bad there so it means your win rate vs the soft players should compensate for not using a HUD, also the guys you play against don't have a HUD either.
My cbet sizing on dry boards is always very small, something I have seen regulars doing is raising when they see small bet sizings, however the main problem is that they don't think about what the fuck they are trying to represent.
Lets look at this hand for example:
$1/$2 No Limit Holdem
PokerStars
6 Players
Hand Conversion Powered by weaktight.com
Stacks:
UTG Player4 ($200.60) 100bb
UTG+1 pleno1 ($216.21) 108bb
CO Player6 ($500.08) 250bb
BTN Player1 ($758.06) 379bb
SB Player2 ($101) 51bb
BB Player3 ($267.80) 134bb
Pre-Flop: ($3, 6 players) pleno1 is UTG+1 7♣ 6♣
1 fold, pleno1 raises to $6, Player6 calls $6, 3 folds
Flop: 3♥ A♠ 2♣ ($15, 2 players)
pleno1 bets $8, Player6 raises to $24, pleno1 raises to $58, Player6 folds
Final Pot: $63
pleno1 wins $128.20 (net +$64.20)
Player6 lost $30
I make a steal BVB with 67cc. Big blind calls and at this point he has a huge range as he has positional advantage and I can be stealing with a wide range.
The flop comes A23 and I bet half pot which should show a profit as he will 3bet a lot of aces as bluffs or for value pre flop and I also have a back door flush and straight draw.
He raises my cbet and now this is just an automatic 3bet spot. He is representing a SUPER narrow range here and is most likely playing me rather than playing his own hand/board.
Generally raising on flops vs somebody with initiative is going to be bad as you represent so little and if they can hand read then they are going to put you in lots of difficult spots.
Here is another hand where I played OOP but on a more drawy board, you can see my sizings changed here to a little larger bet.
$1/$2 No Limit Holdem
PokerStars
6 Players
Hand Conversion Powered by weaktight.com
Stacks:
UTG pleno1 ($1,119.12) 560bb
UTG+1 Player5 ($525.07) 263bb
CO Player6 ($146.02) 73bb
BTN Player1 ($644.73) 322bb
SB Player2 ($748.51) 374bb
BB Player3 ($477.67) 239bb
Pre-Flop: ($3, 6 players) pleno1 is UTG 8♠ 8♦
pleno1 raises to $6, 1 fold, Player6 calls $6, 3 folds
Flop: K♦ 6♦ 4♥ ($15, 2 players)
pleno1 bets $10, Player6 calls $10
Turn: 3♠ ($35, 2 players)
pleno1 checks, Player6 bets $33, pleno1 calls $33
River: 9♣ ($101, 2 players)
pleno1 checks, Player6 bets $97.02, pleno1 calls $97.02
Final Pot: $295.04
pleno1 shows
8♠ 8♦
Player6 shows
4♣ 5♣
pleno1 wins $292.24 (net +$146.22)
Player6 lost $146.02
So by the time the river comes the guy POTS it, I mean his VALUE range is just so small here and he doesn't have a full stack so is most likely a fish.
On the river vs my WEAK range, if he was going for VALUE its very UNLIKELY that he would go for this sizing. My hand here on the river basically = AA.
This means that I'm thinking in RANGES rather than oh, I have 88 and there is a King. You have to understand exactly what range the guy is 1) Representing and 2) Able to represent.

How do you pick which hands to review, and what are you looking at in.them?
Hey,
Thanks and yes I do enjoy talking about poker.
The way I pick hands to review is, whenever I ever have a hmmmmmm moment, or whenever I potentially spew (either successfully or unsuccessfully) I just right click the hand in the "last three hands column" and then press "Mark for Review"
If you then go to your Holdem Manager and filter it by date, you can further filter it by "Marked hands only" just above where you see the actual hands on the bottom parts of the reports tab.
From there I just press CTRL and highlight them all and then press "Replay all" it will then bring up all the hands with all the players stats and I like to watch them all with a friend and discuss them.
Have you tried doing this yet mate?
