Well, after 2 hours and 50 minutes I manage finally to find the right thread and hope with all my heart that the great support of Pokerstrategy.com would be so kind to STOP move all around all the time!!!

Spoiler

obv, I should give the impression to be exhausted and a bit upset ... unfortunately by writing we cannot put the sound and the right amount of scream/laud sound! So, it should sound a bit laud Like STOP MOVE ALL THE THING AROUND ALL THE TIME ... btw, hope to give the idea, go to stop now other way I will lose another 2 hours here

Hi Coach, I was watching a video and come out with the assumption that

with

46% of foldequity

hero need to make work a cbet of 2/3 potsize around 40%
and cbet 1/2 potsize 33%.

Why?

TY :)

Spoiler

P.S. In the another hand, by search for this thread I found my old blog that I thought has been delete! Good job and please Pokerstrategy.com ... STOP MOVE ALL THE HOLY THING ALL AROUND!!!! :tongue:

When we cbet 2/3 pot we need (2/3)/(2/3 + 3/3) = (2/3)/(5/3) = 0.4 = 40% foldequity.
If we bet 1/2, we need (1/2)/(1/2 + 2/2) = 0.33 = 33% FEQ.

The green part is our bet that goes into the pot, the red part is the money already in the pot (so the pot itself).

If you make this example with BBs:

We bet 66BB into 100BB (so a 2/3 pot bet)
=> we need 66BB / (66BB + 100BB) = 66/166 = 0.3975 = ~40%

I hope this helps :).

Phil

Hey Phil,

Bit confused, the coaching schedule page says you are doing a live coaching tonight, but the first page of this thread says yesterday. Which is it?

Thanks for posting this. I didn't quite catch it during the coaching. It seemed quite an interesting hand but the coaching was going to run over so I thought it would be better to see here.

Just a few questions regarding your line:

Flop: My initial thought would be raise for value here but I'm guessing that this just ISO's us vs better and then we have to fold to a 3b? Unless we obviously have specific reads that villain overplays TP by DB/3b'ing or something?

Turn: If we don't have K :diamond: what is our plan on the turn if villain bets (as in this example) or if he checks ( I assume we b/f T and x/beh R unimproved?). If he bets in such a scenario then I think villain can obviously donk two streets with worse AX but if he barrells the river then I think it is 2pr+. I also dont like calling F+T and folding river if this is the case.

I am assuming the line that you took F and T is for pot control and not to turn our hand into a bluff?

River: I would assume the plan would be to fold to another river bet? I dont think players would DB 3 streets as a bluff.

You have to think not only about what could happen after we raise, but also after we call. The call is mostly to induce bluffs.

Turn: If we don't have K :diamond: what is our plan on the turn if villain bets (as in this example) or if he checks ( I assume we b/f T and x/beh R unimproved?). I'd call one more bet in any case, the flush completing card is not hitting his range too hard.
If he x/calls turn, I'd definitely value bet the river - if the river was a :diamond:, giving up has its merits, but I'd at least consider to turn my hand into a bluff against some low flushes.
When we're betting turn I agree that it is a b/f.

I am assuming the line that you took F and T is for pot control and not to turn our hand into a bluff?
It's not for pot control, but to induce a bluff.

River: I would assume the plan would be to fold to another river bet? I dont think players would DB 3 streets as a bluff.
For the most part I agree. However, f.e. if the flush is not completing an argument can be made for calling the 3rd barrel.

Hi everybody,

here are the notes from the last coaching:

Blind Stealing
Blinds fold 90% each on average: => 0.9 * 0.9 = 0.81 = 81%
BU defends 20% => Total FEQ: 0.81 * 0.8 = 0.648 = 64.8%

Steal needs 3/4.5 = 66% FEQ

3beting
We 3bet 3bb->11bb OOP.
In BB we invested 1bb already by posting the blind => we risk 10bb.

Fold equity needed:
=> 10bb / (10bb + 3bb + 0.5bb + 1bb) = 10/14.5 = 69%

5betting
5bet bluff: needs 73% FEQ in a vacuum (depending on 4bet size etc).
BUT you get 60bb back on average:
Assuming we have ~30% equity and 100bb stack sizes: 0.3*200bb = 60bb.

Generally: he needs to fold ~50%-60% of his 4betting range

Hope this helps :)

Phil

hey,

if you remember I talked about defending vs minraise in the coaching. And I checked the video today.

He say in the video somthing like this:

Playing at zero EV:

vs minraise flat in BB 1 bb 7 times in a row. If we c/f 6 times and c/r 1 out of 7 times, we

are close to 0 EV.

So six times we loose 1*6 = 6bb.
Assuming that his cbet is slithly more than half pot, we win 6x bb when we c/r.

pot is 4.5 bb

he cbets 2.5 bb, we c/r.

Our c/r is higher than 1/7 times, its close to 30 % in real, its not blank cards, cards have value and hit sometimes good hand.

Thats what he said.

Actually we win 4.5+ 2.5 = 7bb if assume he cbets 2.5 bb, so don't know why he said 6bb.

I believe its posible on average win the pot at least one out of 7 times by c/r.

What you said is definitely true, however there is usually more to this as this approach simplifies in many ways.
If you'd place a hand over the board and checkraised at a frequency of ~15% (roughly 1 in 7), you'd probably be close to breaking even - if the opponent doesn't call.
Once he defends a certain amount vs your checkraises, not only you don't have an autoprofit spot anymore, but also you'll end up in complex turn situations:
- you have air and a scarecard hits - do you bluff?
- you have TP - do you valuebet? c/c? c/f?

And we didn't even cover the cases when you call Q2s and the board comes QT4. Do you still checkraise to take down the pot?
If you c/c a bet - how do you proceed? Now you invested an additional 3-4BB in the pot and can't just fold to a turnbet.

Etc.

Ofc we need to defend wider vs a minopen on the BU, and a simplified model like the 1-in-7 has its merits.
But I guess you can see that you can (and should) go deeper into this as you progress and refine your game.

I agree, its not easy :) probably I don't need to defent with any cards, and I can fold Q2s. I should need to find my defending range, bit more loose than standard vs minraises.
