This is a really really really interesting hand where I try to rep a full house and all the parts of my story make sense. If I start trying to rep sets on the flop, flushes on the turn and then full houses on the river it doesn't work. You need to tell a story and if you play vs a good reg at 400nl+ and something doesn't make sense then they will bluffcatch.

This is probably one of the most WTF hands I've ever played. My image is that I am a fish. Guy who 4bets is one of the best regs at the limit.

No idea what's going on here, I guess it would have worked if I wasn't aggro.

I check back the flop with my very strong hand here for the following reasons

When he has a weak showdown hand such as 66

- I will very rarely get 3 streets of value, almost never if I start betting on the flop
- I will often not even get 2 streets of value if I start betting flop
- I may get 2 streets of value if I check back flop

When he has complete air hand such as JQ, 89s, KQ, AJs

- I will very rarely get any action on the flop and he will fold
- If he hits j/q/8/9/10 i can often get 2 streets of value
- If he puts me on AK or anything else as I don't cbet then he will likely bet twice thus getting 2 streets of value that I wouldn't if I bet the flop

If he flopped a set:

I lose less as I will just turn my hand into a bluffcatcher and call twice

-- - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -
Summary

- I think 88 is too weak to do this as vs his broadways I am happy to protect.
- It also allows me to check back the flop with Ace high in the future without feeling like I will get massively exploited
- I can rereadjust and get to level 3 whilst opponent is on level 2 and frustrated/tilted.

Happy to hear your thoughts in Czech or English and will get google translate ready if needs be.

I understand it is very unconventional so feel free to call me a fish. :f_cool:

I like this kind of play because I somehow love to underrepresent my hand and play it conveniently.
Furthermore in this hand you are 190 BB deep and I do not want to 3barrel, just to see a raise on the river. Therefore i am willing to sacrifice freecards.

What would be major interesting to me would be the play out of position:

CO pleno1 ($650.94) 325bb
BTN Player1 ($380.28) 190bb
SB Player2 ($86.60) 43bb
BB Player3 ($65) 33bb

=> Player 1 calls pre.
Now I am playing the hand OOP and its not that easy anymore and I am sometimes lost a bit more then IP :-(

Hey Sven,

Leatherass made a video about this kind of play in one of this videos, I think it was called unconventional lines. He spoke about a similar spot anyway.

So here if the board comes 235 we should realy look at this fold to cbet and WTSD.

If he never fold to cbets and calls a lot of river bets we miss too much value by checking the flop, as he will probably float all Ax hands and not fold any pocket pairs by the river.

I think vs this kind of opponent we should just bet all 3 streets, including a K turn or river, but perhaps c/f an ace turn or river as I don't think he will be good enough to turn 77 into a bluff, but he is very likely to float Ax and then value bet.

Vs a guy who folds to a lot of cbets, but has a high aggression frequency when he has the initiative, i.e "bet when missed bet" (i think this is a filter in hem?) then having a hand such as QQ in our c/calling range here could be really sexy.

Hey Patrick!

Nice thread!
Got couple of questions myself, about zoom since you are playing zoom:

1) Are you changing you pre flop or post flop strategy when you don't know a villain (which happens often enough) i.e 3B pre flop the shit out of him.

2) Would you say that notes are even more important in zoom that on normal tables?

3) Some ppl are saying that swings on zoom are bigger that on normal tables. Do you agree?

4) Other tips for us zoomers?

Thanks!

Played a hand a while ago can't find it so I'll try recreate it here:

UTG
MP
CO (xbb)
HERO (200bb)
SB (40bb)
BB

Hero AKs

MP raises 2bb, CO calls, Hero raises 8bb, SB shoves 40bb, MP folds CO calls, Hero...

CO is a huuuuuuge fish. Like 75/40 or something. He snap called my 5b shove with 34s bvb. Plus a few more random allins (T5o etc) so his range is literally any two.

Sb is 13/4 and only seen AA/KK in this spot.

And CO will call if we shove.

1) What's the smallest stack the CO would have for you to shove?

2) If SB does only have AA/KK how will the fact that you lose 2 outs affect your decision?

Hi, Pleno1, I have read very much from this thread and it seems, that you are really good at what you are saying, answering, posting... , so I wanted to ask how do you manage loose aggressive (good) players when they are on your left, because I am playing 6max for some time now, but I still have leak when it comes to situation, when I am on SB and good loose aggressive player sits in BB?

P.S. great thread!

I have a similar question to mindfucker, what's a good opening range from the SB when playing against regs, tags or lags?

Hi Pleno, since i first saw your thread i read it regularly and i admit i like it ,as the most of us, a lot. By taking the opportunity you offer me I would like to ask you something about the concept of Stack to Pot Ratio.

Since i read an article about SPR and the chapter of the book it was first introduced (Professional NLHE vol1) i got stuck with some things i read there. Although the concept in general seemed to me valid some ideas got over my head.

Like on one example described in the book where the authors' advised to limp or minraise with KK(! ?(!) in an 8-handed game from UTG because in a tight game we would like SPR of around 4 with the more likely Overpair we would have on the flop. Since we would need to raise ridiculously big to get that SPR (10x) and a normal 4x raise would put us in a tricky spot when SPR is 11 vs good aggressive opponents who can bluff us out of the hand (around 13 is the worst SPR for TP and Overpairs according to the writers since these hands have usually two streets of value but a big pot bet remains after them which might force us to make mistakes). For these reasons a limp or minraise would be better since the SPR would be high (19+) and our opponents would think twice to make a steal move postflop because they can get re-raised when they bluff and you cannot get commited to the hand.

To another article I read a guy ,who was introducing the same idea, suggessting to call a nit's raise from UTG+1 FR (with stats 11/9 f3bet 83%) from the blinds with AA since stacks are deep (240bb) and a 3bet will give him decent odds to call for set mining.

Is ther any valid logic on these examples? I mean it is some but why would we give such good implied odds to our opponents to hit something on the flop and force ourselves to play for set value only, with the best hands of the game. If we do not narrow the field we would be so valnurable to any postflop aggression. Don't we want to put money in the pot while we are ahead?
Thnx in advance and sorry for the long post, I couldn't make it shorter.

PS I know the examples mentioned above are from full ring games but the ideas that reflect are applicable to 6-max also.

Hey Patrick,

I cant find an answer from you on this reply regarding a hand you posted on page 7 (88 vs K-high board).
