hey guys,

I just finished my two months of volunteer work in Australia and i am having a 2 week holiday right now.

So... i am going to melbourne ' The Crown' for 10 days and to sydney ' Star' casino to play some poker.

If somebody has ever been to one of these casinos : 'any remarks?'

thx

I haven't been but enjoy your time, Australia must be so beautiful! :)

What did you work as a volunteer if I may ask?

Hey there, i have been to the star in Syd a few times, & the crown once. The crown is by far the best!

I didn't play poker at the crown, but at the star i played $1/$2 a couple times & the rake is pretty huge. Also they charge $5 an hour to sit at their tables. Max BI was 50bb when i was there which also sucked.

Not sure about the games at the crown, but iv heard they dont have a time charge..
the Crown itself is a million times nicer though. I would def spend most of my time there :)

Games at the star were obv super soft, i'd assume it would be the same at crown

hey,

I worked for CVA. We were trying to preserve the native environment. I don't recommend it. It was boring like hel. You had to kill non-native trees to replace them with native trees. In my eyes a tree is a tree...right?

But now my vacation starts...so lets hope i ll have some fun.

Yeah, i landed one day before i had to start my work in Australia, so i went to 'Star' casino. Really nice casino, soft games, a lot of tables, 24/7...what more do you want

+ i walked out with a 2.5 buy-in profit ;)

I am really looking forward to Melbourne.
Have been reading almost anything i could find about LLSNL on 2+2 and pokerstrategy.

If you ve got anything thats worth reading...please post it....it would mean the world to me

Thx

Hey man yea been to crown a few times games a really good Friday afternoon even throughout the weekend. but the buy ins are a bit funny. only get to buy in 100bb at 200/500 i think it is.

1/2 doesn't have time charge at crown and max buy in is $150 so not too bad

Both are great venues.

In terms of entertainment and the amount of 'fun' you can have I would recommend the Crown. It has far the better collection of nightclubs/restaurants and a great cinema.

+ as we all know Victorians think less before they act = higher winrates.

The Star has recently had a $1 billion makeover and the card room is very nice. However, the entertainment aspect is still lacking.

If you are playing high stakes and gambling on the side I would definetly recommend the Crown. They often comp rooms that have a great view of the Yarra.

agreed.

Many non-native trees within Australia corrupt natural habitats for hundreds of animals and destroy other tree populations. In this case, a tree is not just another tree.

at crown, the 2/3 tables are great value, buy in from AUD$50-$200 (unless they've changed since i was last down there)

star has 1-2, 3-3, and 5-5, the 1-2 is incredibly soft, I've had several $1k+ cashes from those games, and seeing $1k stacks on the 2-3 at crown is fairly common too
