NL2 AK Should I have just called?

Well the way I look at it, you're out of position and you really need to charge him if he wants to play a hand in position vs you..

Times I'd rather flat than 3bet is if I know he's like folding 80% of times to the 3bet, because then I'm turning AK into a bluff, and would rather 3bet with 72o, and flat with AK.. Versus unknown, I think it's good to 3bet, especially OOP..

Well, being OOP really sucks for value extraction, right? :/ I actually like the turn check, you feign weakness and you can make it look like you just cbet on the flop for him to fold, and now are giving up - for all he knows.. So you can get perhaps 1 more bet out of villain, if he wanted to float you..

But as always in poker, it depends.. Who is the MP3 guy (or a gal?)? Is he/she passive caller, then sure, a turn bet would be +EV move to do.. Is he/she aggressive bluffer (doubt since it's nl2, but could happen) then check is good to induce.. Is he/she really tight player, and are you afraid actually of set of tens or AA, then check is good for pot control and minimax..

IMO, just my opinion mate, I'm still learning just like you are, in fact I headed here to post one of my own hands I have troubles with, so don't take what I wrote for granted.

Preflop a raise with AK is always good.

The turn shows weakness when you check and I think that lets you get some cash from him on the river.

If course, firing all 3 bullets is strong too. I think I would have done that but I await Verizon's comments with interest.

Actually I checked to see if he had any T trips on the Turn but maybe if tha'ts the motivation it will be a bad play huh?

He will rarely have there trips. But rather weaker hands. A lot of Kx and maybe even draws. Just Bet/Bet/Bet.
