Goals spreadsheet

Hey there,

as promised during the last live coaching, Demarcohsp and me designed a simple worksheet for easier tracking of your habits and goals. It can either be used in the electronic form or printed out. You can download the spreadsheet here, the file is called Habits_goals_spreadsheet (I hope that everyone can open .xlsx files).

Here are a couple of instructions on how to use the spreadsheet:

Habits section: Write the habits that you want to take up. But start with 1 or 2 max., you don't have to do all of them. The bolded words are just suggestions, which you should change according to your own personal needs. For example, if you wanted to take up jogging, you would write "jogging" instead of "exercise".

Next to that, you have some cells. those are used to make ticks/crosses to track your progress. And there's also a line for comments if you had any problems etc.

Goals section: Again, this can be modifiable. You can add some areas of life or remove some of them. You don't have to fill everything out. Fill as much as you think you need to. Don't set 30 goals, you'll never complete them. Set a realistic number of goals. Try to be specific with goals. Comments section is there for tracking problems and progress.

You can either print this out or use it as an excel file electronically. It's designed so that it can be printed out on 2 pages :). I do recommend printing it out and having it in front of you at your work environment.

A big thanks to Demarcohsp for helping out with this worksheet!

The next live coaching

The next live coaching is already scheduled. It will happen this Sunday, 22th of July, at the same time as the previous time, so at 20.00 CEST. The short info in the link I gave you is wrong, please look at the "Start" and "End" for the correct times. You can also check the coaching schedule.

The topic will most likely be energy management, so some info on how to manage your energy and achieve high performance by implementing good nutrition, exercise and recovery into your life.

Guide update

There is a big guide update coming very soon, so stay tuned :).

That's awesome!

As I said, a very big update coming very soon .

By the way, when I write my e-book, I think we can talk about some sort of cooperation if you're willing to translate it into Spanish language :).

Hi Schnitzelfisch!

Thanks for your awesome and extensive post. I started thinking about my values and what I want to achieve in life earlier, I also use a calendar and make plans for achieving my goals, but I think your knowledge and experience can take me to the next level. I'm grateful that you shared it with the community! :)

I just made reading one section of your coach to one of my weekly tasks.

Could you kindly upload the habits goals worksheet in the .xls format, too? Just "Save as..." Excel97-2003 worksheet. The .xlsx doesn't work for me.

Kind regards
Jan

Is this a post ? Or a book ?(

Haha it's a "quick" guide so far... I wanted to make it a short guide but it turned out that it was easy to keep writing it, so it became quite long...

However, since it's not really organized etc. it's not something I would sell. If I make something for sale I want to make sure that it's A++ material that is amazing from start to finish :).

After it's finished, I will make a survey to see what exactly people liked, didn't like and what else would they want, then I'll make a book out of it which will be more structured, will have even more action steps and examples and probably worksheets as well.

Of course, if you have any suggestions, you can already post them :).

Hi Schnitzelfisch,

I have read the beginning of your article and got the inspiration i needed. Beside your article I am currently reading a book which is helping me to improve other aspects of my life. Reasons for doing so is because of what happened some years ago.

5 years ago I had an accident with my knee during a game of badminton. For 12 weeks I couldn't do anything. Because of this i lost some stamina but more important i feared doing any sport. From that point on a lot of things got worse: stamina went down, weight went up but most important the will to do something about it slowly dissapeared.

Last year My mindset finally came back again. I promissed somebody that before the age of 40 I will cycle to the top of the mont Ventoux. Something you shouldn't be doing without stamina and training.

I tried to find ways to get back into shape and slowly things went the right way... so i thought. Now, 1 year later, I am still at the same weight. My stamina has increased a little bit but is still far from perfect and the energy to do things was still missing. Besides that My doctor told me I should use caution with using my knee because the soft bone was damaged and will "irritate" whenever i overload my knee.

With a little over 1000 days to go before my deadline (jikes I will be 40 in 1026 days) I said: lets give the Schnitzelfisch way a go!
My personal goal is pretty simple: beat that mountain! Undertake things I alwasy wanted to do.
When I was a youngster I did make a big bike trip and I want to be able to do that again!

My plan is to loose a little under 1kg per month for the next 3 years. Not by going on a diet but by implementing a lot of what you wrote. This is wat I have been doing the last 7 days:

  • Get up on time. No more staying in bed
  • Drink tea instead of coffee
  • Drink water throughout the day. No more soda, sometimes I drink orange juice (fresh)
  • Smaller meals. Between meals I can take some nuts, or something else.
  • Reduced my candy habit to almost zero.
  • Some sort of activity 6 from 7 days.

The last one needs some extra clarification. I bought a rowing trainer which I currently use 2 days per week. I started easy and will extend it when I feel my knee can take it. The other days I go swimming, walking or biking. All on a low level right now but for me... it's a good start. The next few weeks when I get back to work again I expect to go by bike a lot so I WILL have my morning activity.

The good thing is: After just 1 week I already feel much better. I want to thank you for the time you took to share this with us. I hope to get back to reading the remainder of the article but don't want to overload myself since I already changed so much this week.

Regards.

PS: Tonight is my second weight moment (once a week every mondaynight). Pretty excited to see what this week has done :)

@hoedinie: Nice story, I hope that you manage to reach your goals! Of course, you can always ask any questions if you should have them in case you run into some problems :).

Live coaching uploaded!

The first official live coaching (vision, goals, Q & A) has now been uploaded for those who missed it.

Enjoy!

A big update is here, as promised:

13. Knowledge and learning
14. Speed reading
14.1 Measuring your reading speed
14.2 The speed drill
14.3 The comprehension drill

I have a couple of other chapters written, but I will not publish them yet as I want you to apply the content, not just acknowledge it.

As always, if you should have any questions, feel free to ask them :).

Hi Schnitzelfisch,

I've been reading and implementing several chapters of your coach now.
After having read the chapter 'Projects', I need some clarification.

I used to think of the things I want to get better at/master in life as long-term 'projects'.
Namely:

My university education
Sports
Nutrition
Poker
Productivity & Time Management

and three more.

Some of the projects are running, meaning I have long- and regularly adjusted short-term goals for them, some are in the pipeline, some I sort of pursue but I haven't set goals for.

1. question: Do you know of a sound strategy to prioritize projects? Both in the long- and the short-term? E.g. during exams, I want to lower intensity of other projects to be able to focus on studying more.

2. question: As you can see, I also consider things I want to turn into habits as 'projects' first (e. g. nutrition, remaining a certain level of physical health). How do I know when a project really turned into a habit, so I can 'clear' it out of my project list to make place for another project? And how do I make sure that I don't fall back into bad habits if I don't closely track it anymore with goalsetting and reviews? Does it make sense to use the 30 days make a habit-rule a couple of times? E.g. one month of getting used to making proper breakfast, one month of 'tracking' that I drink enough water, one month for lunch etc.?

It would be nice if you could help me answering some of my questions.

Kind regards,
gsusin
