Ok, so basically what he's saying is if you order food and someone delivers it to you at WSOP, you're giving away info about your poker game? Yeah, that makes a lot of sense :|.
Isn't like everyone who plays at WSOP pretty rich and important? I'm not sure about the nutrition options at WSOP but I doubt that people are ordering food to look important to other players... Besides, those meals aren't even that expensive compared to what the BIs of the tournaments are at WSOP.
I see it as a great business idea, he provides solutions to peoples' problems, great stuff! Of course there will always be people who will be negative about it but meh, this guy is just saying "it's stupid, it's a tell, everyone is looking at you", which isn't much of an argument ?(.
@paddygo: Then you should check my productivity guide as well which is probably way better than this thread as well ;).

I wanted to come back and thank you for all the great advices, I've looked into a few options when it comes to Paleo and works really well! Thank you again!
Haha lets be honest though, you can't really take him seriously, he's pretty hammered and only having a laugh haha,
Here's a blog he wrote after WSOP about all american dave, it not long but its Food For Thought!!!

If you want to go back to your early sleep time you should wear sunglasses all the time after lunch, minimize your exposure to light and you'll go to sleep earlier than you would expect imo ♦.
Srry if I did not get your question :).
Hey, great thread!!!
What are your thoughts about herbalife?
I've never heard about this "Maca powder", can someone tell me something more about it?

Simple answer: very overpriced, very average product, as with most MLMs
But you probably won't be happy with that, so let me explain:
-Soy protein (which is what herbalife's shakes are mostly made of) is way worse for you than whey protein because it has a worse amino-acid structure
-Herbalife shake costs ~50€ for 450g if i recall correctly. A similar type of product in a fitness store which is made out of whey protein and has a way better structure costs ~35€ per 2kg.
-Herbalife promotors from my experience have very bad or no knowledge of healthy nutrition. Quite a lot of them eat normal food all day and even stuff like junk food, pizzas, sweets, etc. and then gobble up a couple of shakes a day and "eat healthy". I've had a couple of conversations with them and I literally wanted to kill myself on the spot because of the stupidities and contradictions that they were talking about.
-A lot of herbalife promotors are fat/skinny. If Herbalife is extremely healthy, then why don't they look healthy?
-The advice that they give you (depending on how much weight you want to lose, switch a number of meals with shakes and you'll lose weight! And you can keep eating normally too!) is ok for temporary weight loss and might get you results (of course you will lose weight if you consume less calories a day), but it has nothing to do with healthy nutrition.
-The majority of their knowledge comes from the seminars that they attend. They never touch a study on nutrition, they blindly believe what fellow promoters tell them and they pass that crappy knowledge onwards. The promoters that hold seminars often either don't have good knowledge themselves or they do have some knowledge but choose to teach the knowledge that will persuade the customers and not what is actually true. Their incentive is after all to make money, not make you healthy.
-Those results are only temporary. Yo-yo effect is very common with Herbalife products - when you stop eating their shakes (and giving them 50€ a month), you will go back to your old eating habits and you will gain even more weight.
If you research MLM (multi-level marketing) for a bit, you will see that this is what all of these businesses are doing. They make a cheap, average product, then use the word of mouth marketing and persuasion techniques to make you believe that their product is the best in the world and that you have to buy it and keep buying it. Their products are in fact ok, but they're far from the best and VERY overpriced.
MLM is a great system for the owner, very profitable. Everyone else is however just getting scammed (the employees who think that they actually own the company and the customers who get their average products).
That is my opinion on Herbalife comes from my own personal experience and a bit of research.

No meal should be expensive compared to WSOP BI, I know they exist and its pretty sick in my opinion.
I see lot of statements that sugar is bad.
But I tried to search for information, why is it bad, but I am not sure if I found good one.
Found one site which also claims that sugar is so bad, its even a cancerogen which means it can cause cancer but I am not finding real proves. I mean anyone can write on the internet something but should we believe.
So can you point me some sources why sugar is bad such that we could believe. With some researches or something that makes sense.
I also am trying to cut use of sugar, but then I need a replacement and now trying to eat more fruits.
And btw also I have read that sugar is good for brain and for liver. I dont remember exacly the reasoning. BUt for brain - it might make serotonine, happyness hormone.
Have read that trying to eat very healthy might make you depressive because you dont get happyness from eating what is delicious.
And yea, I really remember becoming more happy when eating lot of sweats till my mouth dont want them anymore and then wants something non sweat

Hey, I agree that trying to eat very healthy is BAD for you. Why? Because it makes you stressed. ANYTHING which causes you psychological and physical tension is bad for you, and this can be literally anything, from thoughts, to food, to electromagnetic fields, to air quality, etc.
So my policy is this; I will eat as healthy as I possibly can as long as it feels natural and normal for me to do so. Trying to eat super-healthy is me trying to be something I'm not, and it doesn't satisfy my taste or my stomach, and thus it will cause me a lot of psychological tension and stress because I hate what I'm eating and I wish I was eating something else, and so the benefits I'm getting from eating well are offset by the detriments of being stressed.
What does it mean practically? It means I will eat what I want. But the point is that what I usually want is healthy; and stuff which is bad for me makes me feel bad, therefore I naturally tend eat less and less of it until one day I just find it not worth the effort. It's important to not just do this because you feel bad, but to do this because it feels good, and it feels natural. If it doesn't feel natural and normal to you then it is not sustainable for the long-term.
That being said there are some things you need to cut out right now, such as fizzy drinks/sodas/carbonated drinks. These thing are 300% bad.
It takes much time to work up to this. Someone who lives a 100% unhealthy lifestyle cannot, under any circumstances, switch to 100% healthy within a short period of time. You have to very slowly reduce some (bad) things and increase some (good) things. It's very grey and not black and white at all, but it is important. Sometimes it's a matter of just cutting out something super-bad and replacing it with something less bad. Then eventually you will replace that with something OK, then replace that with something good. It is a slow process because your mind and your body is literally addicted to your current lifestyle and some chemical substances and it doesn't want to change - I do not believe that forcing yourself into doing something is healthy under most normal circumstances.
As for sugar - this is a weird area. From what I can tell, most obvious things like sweets are not good. But when it comes to fruit, hm... it's less easy. My personal approach is to simply not overdo it with fruit. Fruit is very, very good for you, but even too much of it is bad. Just try not to overdose on fruit and you'll be fine. Using it to replace sweets is just fine.
Sugar and cancer is a real link. It definitely feeds cancers and we have observed this scientifically with repeated results. There is a type of scan called PET scan; before this they inject you with glucose (sugar) and then scan your body to see which parts become active. This works because cancer cells love sugar and grow from it. So this type of scan is used to determine where there is a high concentration of cancer cells in the body, by using sugar to temporarily feed it.
So yeah... in conclusion my advice is to go slowly and not try to force anything too much. This is a huge topic and it's very murky so don't feel bad or get overwhelmed; just keep learning and keep taking tiny steps.
My list of things based on my own extensive research:
Things to avoid:
Dairy, Gluten, refined sugars, all carbonated drinks, most caffeine, alcohol, soy, process salt, most meat (anything pig-based), too much fish, most wheats, bottled water (yes really), anything corn-based, vegetable or sunflower oil or most cheap commercial olive oils especially if cooked, margerine, butters, lardThings to have more of:
Most raw fruits and vegetables particularly green things, cooked tomatoes, certain specific types of wheat, water, most raw nuts and seeds, goats dairy, some types of fish (in moderation), uncooked olive oil, coconut oil, garlic, ginger.Organic is always better but it's not the difference between life and death so don't stress too much if you can't always get it. It IS more expensive but keep this in mind: as well as being non-poisonous, organic produce has more nutrition. So even if it's more expensive it is sometimes still better value. Hold an organic tomato in one hand and a non-organic tomato in the other; you will feel the massive difference in weight. So you are not only getting more nutrition but you won't need to eat as much of it to become full... so you are saving money sometimes.
Another thing to keep in mind is that just because something is naturally supposed to be good for you, it doesn't mean it is... this is largely because humans (specifically corporations) have corrupted almost everything. There are many things which are unhealthy today which were healthy 300 years ago. Bread used to be healthy before we mutated the grains. Fish used to be abjectly healthy before we poisoned them with mercury. I can't even begin to talk about meat. So do your research; because whilst your common sense will often be right it will also be wrong at the same time. I knew a guy who was intolerant to gluten and dairy in his native Czech Republic, but if he went to a shop across the border into Germany where the food standards are high, he could eat almost anything. Even such a seemingly tiny change can be so significant.
-----------------------------------------
Can someone please elaborate on eggs for me? I avoid them because I always tend to feel lethargic and have brainfog when I eat them, and if my body reacts like this then I take it as a sign to avoid. But everyone says eggs are abjectly good, so I'm conflicted. It may be that since I would always have them with bread or cooked in oil that I was reacting to these things instead. So are eggs definitely completely good for you? Do they also help you to build muscle? I could do with being a bit more chunky all over! Also what is the best way to prepare them? Most of the time I've always had them fried. Or are they better raw?
First, I would talk about the definition of eating "healthy". That means many different things to different people. Instead of saying that eating "healthy" is "good" or "bad", think about what your real goal is (that isn't vague).
If your goal is:
1) To lose 10kg of fat as soon as possible
2) To gain 10kg of muscle without gaining any fat as soon as possible
3) To get the maximum performance out of your sport
4) To have great energy levels throughout the day
5) To not get a disease like cancer or diabetes
Then your nutrition plan will usually be very very different.
For example, whereas eating fruit might be very bad if you want to lose weight as soon as possible, it might on the other hand be very beneficial to eat it if you want maximum sports performance or focus during a poker session.
With sugar it's the same - if you want great sports performance or to build muscles fast, sugar can definitely help, but it likely won't give you good results if you want to have a consistent flow of energy or lose fat as soon as possible.
You can go out and read hundreds of "independent" studies (like I used to), but in the end you will see that a lot of them tend to be highly contradictory and badly measured.
What I would do instead is experiment. Play around with different nutrition plans and see how you react to them.
For example, right now I'm testing out the slow-carb diet from Tim Ferris from his book "The 4 hour body", and it works surprisingly well for consistent energy levels and fat loss, and I greatly enjoy it despite thinking it would be boring as hell.
Be open on trying different things out and seeing how YOUR body reacts to them and don't get too hung out about studies, although I'm sure that if you search for studies connecting sugar with diabetes that you should be able to find some.
Another thing that's extremely important is MAKING things work for you. If you think about how you can adjust the nutrition plans in a way to make them exciting, you won't have such a problem following through with them, and you'll be happy as well.
For example, I love fruit, yoghurts, and many other things that just don't fit my current diet. So I did some research on what I can eat within it, and I found out that I can eat Mexican food, chillies and guacamole. Now, I eat salads with chicken, beans, hot sauce and guacamole almost ever day, and I LOVE it, which is why it's not that hard for me to stick to the plan.
Think about how you can make your nutrition plan work for you, and how to make it as exciting and enjoyable as possible for you to use, and you won't have the issues of "not being happy" or "missing out on your favorite foods".
actually sugar is not that hard to drop as I thought it is. WHen I was used to sugar, it was like I have to have something sweat all the time and after I eat non sweat food, then I eat some sweat like candy.
But what strongly makes me not want sugar is the reason of cancer. Interestingly nobody is talking about it so so many years I did not know, while that getting cancer from smoking even small kids probalby know. And some people even get long age by smoking and not get the cancer.
So add some fruits, now started making home made orange juice from time to time, honey and I am decent without sugar. Despite some other foods like tomato, bread etc, but its not possible to replace everything I guess.
Another thing is - when you want something delicious, go to shop - you are like - what the hell, there is nothing to buy, except few fruits ♦ everywhere is sugar.

Have you done any research on causality of fructose on cancer? Generally if you eat a lot of fruits and juice, you could very well be consuming 100-150g of sugar a day, just in a different form. I'm curious to hear if you have any insights on this.
Fructose is even worse in that respect for people with normal weight ![]()
While the researchers did not find a connection between glycemic index and cancer, they found a more unexpected connection: the fifth of the population that ate the most fructose had a significantly higher pancreatic cancer risk than the fifth that consumed the least. Meanwhile, among obese and overweight patients, high sucrose intake was correlated with a higher risk of pancreatic cancer. Among patients of healthy weight, sucrose intake was not associated with cancer risk.
Participants who drank more fruit juice also had a higher risk of pancreatic cancer risk, but not participants who drank more soda.
No connection was seen between pancreatic cancer risk and intake of total carbohydrates, total sugars or added sugars.
Prior research has shown that people with high blood sugar are at an increased risk of developing pancreatic cancer.
Corn syrup is especially dangerous (as it contains mercury, to make things worse).
Pancreatic cancer has the highest mortality rate of all cancers - 94% after 5 years.
P.S. I'd hate to live long anyway, so I'll go and grab another couple of sugar cubes (less carcinogenous, mind you) to eat the bad news away #yolo

I googled a bit and as I understood too much fructose is also bad, but what also I understood that its hard to overdose fructose just from fruits.
And about juice - I try now to avoid juice from shops, but home made juice does not have added sugar, just natural from fruits so I hope I will not overdose it also.
Sugar levels in fruits have also been corrupted by; (you guessed it) humans. The are 30% higher than what they should be naturally. So yeah, definitely fruit is great and contains many great things, but it's still important to be discerning with it and not go overboard. I think we should all eat fruit every day, but in moderation. You also need to take your teeth into account and make sure that your fruit habits are not going to be too harsh on your teeth.
Hi Schnitzelfisch,
I personally feel after i went 100% vegan i have lot more energy, lot more focus and i having more strength.
With research it seem it not that hard replace all things what we take from animal more healthy using plant based products.
I personally went vegan for ethical reasons and also feel it overall lot more healthy based on ton and ton research.
I don't think you can have any counter argument for that when making decision what to eat (90%+ can make it everyday) should be based most importantly on how much pain/torture/fear/miserable lives have product made to other species what have basic desires to not feel pain/be killed or tortured.
^ What do you replace eggs and dairy products with to satisfy your need in (biologically active) B12: fortified foods, Batabata-cha (Japanese fermented tea), anything else? (I can't reject eggs and cheese for this reason among others, so I'm a mere vegetarian.)
I agree B12 is very hard to get while you are vegan and i don't.
B12 is not typically found in conventional produce, but it can be found in organic, wild fruits and vegetables
I use supplement for this vitamin.
Soy milk is great cow milk alternative rich with B12.
I chooses not eat eggs because i don't think them is at all healthy.
For every claims eggs being healthy nowadays there come lot more about why them is unhealthy.
I don't want list lot of resources but here is video that United Stated department of agriculture because existing laws against misleading advertising don't allow call eggs any of theses words:
"healthy", "safe", "nutritious" ect.
Feel free to check links below video in description box for more researches about eggs and ofc if you interested in it more you should not trust me and do research yourself and decide yourself based on not claims but evidence based on real researches. Also i usually trust more doctors/actual study then anything else because with all huge propaganda out there from meat/dairy products industry and interests of lot rich/powerful people there is no much things you can trust.
With so much opposite opinions on eggs i don't feel risk to reward ratio is good enough for me long-term.
