sorry but not sure I understand the underlined bits...

we are not playing a6-a9 because they do not connect for a straight?

I'm sure pleno will come with some more common spots but I really wanted to use that stamp. :f_biggrin:

I made an nl10 video yesterday but then realised I hadn't changed to 4 color deck and left sounds on.

Well its all situational, you have to adjust to your opponent.. Example, you are on the button vs a player who likes to raise alot from the cut off (34%) and has a fold to 3bet of 32% this means we can 3bet KQ for value and expect him to call really wide with hands that we dominate such as other broadway combos like q10, qj, k10, kj. If however his stats changed (he adjusted) to a 70% fold to 3bet but maintained his high cut off steal rate then we would choose to flat hands like KQ so that we can continue to dominate his range whilst holding the positional advantage.

We also want to flat value hands that won't dominate a range but are too strong to fold pre flop.

Example,. MP opens and we are in the cut off with 99, vs a lot of people tis going to be very thin to get this in here, however vs his range on every board combination we are usually going to be ahead, + we have good implied odds vs a relatively strong range and position therefore flatting would become the best option.

Both make sense?

How come you haven't included 22,33,44 into your UTG Range? Because they make limited straights and sometimes only the low end?

They are just too weak. When the money goes in we are often getting coolered + they are impossible to get to showdown

Ah, fair enough, makes sense.

I'm looking forward to giving these ranges a little whirl, going to write them down and see if I can start playing well using them

Another question about this lol.

I find it interesting you mention JT/QJ utg because nearly everything I read about opening ranges advocates against these hands because of domination... Is domination the reason your not suggesting AJ utg?

UTG I don't say to open j10/qj off? Suited is ok because you can barrel etc.

Regarding pocket pairs, generally its super hard to get to showdown and when you do showdown in a huge pot its very rare than villain is raising/fistpumping with tptk.

Also I watched a video series on another site (think I mentioned it to you already) where the coach takes a losing small stakes player and helps him become winning mid stakes player. And in one of the earlier videos when they were discussing opening ranges the coach said that he treats UTG and MP the same as there isn't a huge difference between them and so uses the same tight UTG opening range for MP, something like: 66+, ATs+, KQ, AJo+. What're your thoughts on that?

And in the same series the coach said he doesn't generally 3b utg opens because its hard to balance and so prefers to flat with his entire range and play ip. Or something like that, havent watched the vids in ~2 months. What're are your thoughts on 3betting utg opens? I know it's super opponent specific so say against a 22/18 reg who opens 10%utg 6/65 3b/ft3b (from all positions)
