How to protect against UV/IR marked cards?

This poker hall in the next city, is it some kind of shady underground gangster hangout? I mean is it somewhere where it's possible for a player to have access to the cards before the game and mark the deck? Is it somewhere where you can't request that a new deck of cards is used? If for any reason you don't trust the place or the guys you are playing with then it's simple you can just leave and take your money with you. But i don't think this is the kind of thing you need to worry about to be honest.

If its another guys homegame bring your own cards along and if he starts scribbling all over them in UV ink then you will know its dodgy ♦

Don't play anywhere you don't trust.

In order for any uV markings to work, there would need to be some source of "black light' available to some people but not others. That would be tough.

iR might be possible, but most contact lenses block both.
I looked at a video from someone attempting to sell marked cards, but not too worried about it at the moment.

Well i never played at that poker room, so i really dunno if its shady or not. My buddy has also never been there but he just thinks that all of these are kinda shady.

My buddy said that even if the cards are new there might be a player cheating by having "infrared" (or whatever) color in his hair or so disguised as hair gel and then touching the "good" cards like aces and kings in a way so he would "recognize" them later on.

How often are the decks usually renewed, is it common for a poker room to renew it during a tournament or sit n go?

And he said you can eaily get complete kits with special contact lenses and the color for a "few hundred bucks", even in germany.

I just thought if i had special glasses like this i could spot any fraud easily. Or something like that. My initial thought was just that if its for like a few hundred or thousand bucks (If you play with loads of people its not that much) maybe it would be tempting for people to pull something like that. I have no experience in "live poker" but with a few driking buddies and with them Im sure noone would cheat that way as the money in play is just way too low and we all know each other. But when playing against strangers i dont have any experience. Maybe i will just try playing there for the lowest buy-in they offer to get some own experience. But yeah just having such stuff in mind Im of course a bit worried as i simply have no idea how common that is. I guess its pretty hard to detect if the cheater doesnt play so obvious that he always wins.

Dont play there or a sasquatch will tickle your feet under the table and aliens will abduct everyone else at the table and replace them with bodysnatchers. Pretty sure if you play with cards made from unicorn horns you will be safe though.

I thought that the cards in vegas get changed everytime after they close in the morning.

So every morning they collect all the cards and burn them so no other person could find them, mark them and get them back into the casino the very next day.

I wouldn't be to worried about all these tricks. If someone is staring at your cards the whole time, that could be an indicator though

You could also hide your cards, well not hide but put something on it like a chip or something. This covers part of it and could block the "mark".

You're right dude that kinda shit happens all the time. They have this infrared?UV shit on cards and people where shades so that they can read markings on the cards.

Why else do you think people wear sun glasses inside casinos. This is the very reason.

Some online pros are so good that they also cheat ONLINE!!!

As you can see in this pic Dusty is wearing special glasses while playing online poker to read the card markings. Obviously there's no other reason to be wearing dark glasses while playing right?
