I was thinking a bit more after reading all the responses.
At the bottom of all this, the OP allowed someone ELSE's bad manners to tilt him.
I sympathize with him completely, but I do hope I can keep my cool when somebody wings out on me for something trivial.

I do agree with you that I allowed someone's bad manners tilt me. I just felt that she was disrespecting me and I value respect very much.

To be honest, I can imagine myself silently getting annoyed if someone would hold the elevator for someone who is just getting through the mail while I would be in a bit of a hurry and who knows, if I were old I might even snap and start complaining.
On the other hand (without previous history of her being a c***) I wouldn't delay the elevator, I would just get out and let her go and most importantly wouldn't look down on her like she's a nobody even if she'd snap. It's pointless and arrogant to do so.
