What up guys!
I was just browsing through this old blog again and it is such a shame we stopped having regular updates cause I have been laughing my ass off when I was rereading it :f_biggrin:. Someone with too much time on his hands should most definitely make a 'Top 10 blog posts in Philippines thread' ♦.
Pokerwise it is going very bad lately, most likely my worst run in my entire career which is probably already lasting over 4 years. I already knew how sick this PLO game was, or so I thought. I experienced lots of big swings, good and bad. Seen crazy board developments for days/weeks in a row. One cooler situation after the other etc. We all experience it. We don't like it, but we have to live with it. This one unfortunately is something I have never experienced before. You feel hopeless/powerless cause no matter what you do, it won't help. I am happy though about the fact that I'm handling it pretty well. I am still grinding 5h+ a day and I barely tilt. I admit though that last 2-3 days I have made some questionable plays from the accumulated small frustrations of the past 2 weeks. But hey, this is what downswings are for. They separate the pros from the noobs. It is perfectly explainable by Tommy Angelo's concept of reciprocality. It is very easy for people to feel let down, discouraged and to lose hope when things are not going your way for a long time. But you gain an edge over your opponents when you are different than them (obviously for the better).
It's just variance. I made the right play. Stay calm and just keep playing well.
If you are able to realize this one simple line and to use it against your own mind and fully believe in this expression, you have such a big edge over your opponents that no strategy book or coaching will ever give to you.
I recently started reading in 'The mental game of poker' as well. So far it seems like a really good and solid book. This might just be what I need to make it to the highstakes.

I also played a little lower again because in october I lost quite a bit on the 1k tables after having 2 very good days. Mainly played 200-400 and some 600.
So yeah, I seem to have had a very unlucky November, but this statement couldn't be further away from the truth. Around the 33k hand mark (lol ♠_frown: ) I went to some island here not far from Cebu with a girl I met while I was in Manila for a few weeks, to relax for a day. From the moment we met and started talking, we immediately clicked. So I obviously decided to give it a try since I had a hard time finding girls here where you can have a decent conversation with :f_biggrin:. We met each other again at some later day and boy, did I had a great time. The thing that attracted me right away was her sense of humor. Very few women I met in my life have the ability to make me laugh on a regular base. I wouldn't lie if say that I can count them on one hand and then I would still have free spots left :f_cool:.
After that night we almost met each other every single day until I went back to Cebu. I had a great time every single night and I enjoyed her company a lot. A big difference with every other girl I met here. I would get angry if they would stay longer than an hour after waking up. Of course I felt this special feeling with her but I wasn't sure what to think of it. Is she really that special or am I just happy to finally meet a girl I can talk to here in the Philippines. This wasn't the only doubt I had. Do I wanna give up my single life? I am having a good time here in the Philippines. I can date as many hot girls as I want here, is she really worth given up this 'freedom' for? If I met her 1 year ago, there was probably no way I would have fallen for her. I was having too much fun. But time makes you realize what is really important. Being able to click with someone and share your deepest thoughts and feelings is so much more than those 10 minutes of pleasure, which she can give you anyways. It even is much better with real feelings. Anyways, enough talk about sex ♠_biggrin:.
I always thought I was shallow when it came to emotional attraction. But she proved me wrong.
We are officially together now for just 2 weeks (after we got back from the trip to island, right when the downswing began ♦ ) but it feels like I know her for such a long time already. And gaahd, do I love her :f_love:.
So november was definitely my best month since a very long time, even though i lost 20k :f_biggrin:. But if that was the trade-off I had to make, then so be it. Although I would prefer if poker would catch up sooner or later, then everything will be perfect :).
