Lucky nl players ♦
Hi guys !
I've some news for u. I've decided not to go for SNE next year. Maybe a little bit disappointing, but it's so effing sick grind. It's actually a commitment for 2 years, not 1, to get maximal value out of it. That's the bad news.
Good news is I'm going to make a new challenge. This time it's not going to be sick grind, it will be more profit oriented. I wanted to test out pokerstars.fr, but my account still isn't validated. So, when I get it validated, I will inform u with all details, maybe even today. Also there is no point in playing on stars for the rest of the year because I won't make it to the next milestone anyways.
New Challenge - From 500 to 10k
Yeah, I gonna grind micros
I have 500 euros on pokerstars.fr and my account just got verified. So I will try to get to 10k asap. I will use some pretty aggressive brm, I will start in nl25 and end it in nl400. I hope I won't have to move back limits very often and I will get to nl50 till the end of this year. I will write down all the details below:
:diamond:Main goal - get 10k bankroll from 500
:diamond:Bankroll management - I will move up to limit when I have 20buyins. I will move back when I have 20buyins for previous limit
:diamond:Tables - I'm going to play around 12 tables, that means I will use almost all my bankroll at tables
:diamond:Volume - I will try to get ~50k hands till the end of this year. No idea about next year because I will play on stars.com as well.
Updates - I will update this for every 10k hands or every day.
If you're wondering why I'm doing this, I just wanna test pokerstars.fr. I wanna see differences between this and regular stars. It's possible that I'm moving to this site if games are mush softer here. Traffic seams fine for me. U can see my starting bankroll :
I will rename this blog a little bit later because I'm not playing zoom anymore, so make sure u can find it later. Now it's time to play some hands there
Subbed.
Loved the lessons.
Please post a lot of hands from that challenge and let the discussion begin!
I've played almost 5k hands so far, but down 100 euros. I can't play this limit, really no idea what's going on. All the time 4way pots, no 1 folds to 20bb squeeze... I already made some adjustments, but looks like it's not enough. I threw away like 5 stacks calling down some guys for stacks, they always had the nuts. Then I decided no one bluffs that way here and started bluffing that way. Guess what - they called me down with total crap 5/5 times ♦
Here's the graph :
Also rake is killing all the fun, I've raked almost 6 buyins over 5k hands. That's insane, more than 1 buyin for every 1k hands. I raked like 0.3-0.4 buyins @nl200 on regular stars.
Regarding to the rake: WELCOME TO THE MICROS!
Please start posting some hands with thought process.

I've to figure out what's going on before. Now my thought process isn't working
you're obviously levelling yourself, no need to think too deeply in the micro's. Average thought process is "lolz, i haz pair, i call"
BTW, change title to something like playing from 500 to 10k while drinking beer

You are probably overthinking it. Only a few regs are on level 2 or maybe 3, the rest are just plain fish. Here at regular Stars (also nl25sh) I get most money from passive whales who c/call everything and all the way so just make sure you get huge value with you top pair kind of hands, they are not trapping , they just like to c/ call
Regs are also usually pretty nitty and will fold a lot to c/raise especially on turn as it is considered to be "the nuts line" and they will give you a lot of credit ♦ hmm what else.... well people generally have 0 positional awareness aside from those few regs so just abuse them IP. Oh and one more thing - if they call you twice there is probably 0% chance that you can pull a sick bluff on the river as you have already experianced so just giving up with air is totally fine.
GL!
hahahahahaah, this will be so much fun. Obv you crush but in short term it will be a laugh. Please post a couple of lol hands where you really didn't know what was going on with thoughts? We wont laugh honest, we're not good enough
I bet it takes a little longer the you planned
I have this theory when I assign colours to people at micros.
I have green for fish
Yellow for bad reg.
Orange for average reg
Guess what? There is no colour for good reg

Got almost the same colors for average and regfish, the purple one is still waiting to be assinged to a good red (I reckon not happening soon).
Good luck with the challenge, loved the previous one and the updates, you will crush it for sure.
Btw., we had almost exactly the same challenge on polish PS and the uber grinder took $500 to $14.000 in 2 weeks : )
Another higher level player stepped into micro mines.
It's all about adjusting. If opponent doesn't fold, you don't bluff. Just valuebet thinner. If they don't like to call with their stack without a really strong hand, give them a lot of pressure every now and then.
There are three important things when midstakes/highstakes player comes to micros: adjusting, adjusting and adjusting.
Might be that I forgot to mention adjusting, that should be the fourth.
Thanks to everyone for advice.

I tried to do some color coding as well. But turned out I was using only "fish" color for 95% of the players
So I gave up on that, now they have to do something extremely stupid to earn that color.
I lost a couple of buyins @nl25, now grinding nl10. Now my plan is to get back to 500 euros and try nl25 again. At least crushing nl10, I hope it will stay that way and I'll be able to play nl25 after ~25k hands. Graph looks pretty bad :
U wanted some hands, but I really have no idea which one is good because all of them looks very stupid. I have 1 hand what I was laughing about for long time. He thought I'm the biggest fish there most likely.

I was pretty sure he has some sort of busted draw or Ax on the river. Turned out he hit his pair, no idea was that value bet, bluff or just bet because I have the pair
After this hand I understood how stupid that call is at micros, but still I'm calling with Ahi and other stuff a lot ♦ Sometimes even winning.
Also I wanted to share my adjustments I've made so far :
I 3bet less, only ~5% and use more hands like AQ,AJ instead of polarized A5s etc.
I started limping behind, no point in iso raising. They will never fold unless u make it to 10bb and other guys will come along, so u won't get HU pot. It's better to just limp behind with many hands I used to iso raise.
Never stab the pot where it's super std atc stab/3barrel. They play all their hands very passively and will check to u and then all of them will call
They never make multiple street bluffs, so I very rarely call more than 1 bet/raise with marginal hands.
River raise is the nuts 96% of the time, never calling it anymore.
Top pair is the nuts, always betting it.
Checking down Ahi is the best way how to play it in multiway pots, it's good surprising amount of the time. And they don't stab the pot at all, so it's super easy to showdown.
Maybe I forgot something, but 1 more interesting thing. I noticed that they usually raise the turn when I 2 barrel on overcard turn. Most shocking thing - they do it with 2nd pair or any other hand that was pretty good on the flop but isn't on the turn anymore.
I started to watch moonshiners while 6tabling, probably going to do it later today as well. Pretty cool and funny TV show

BTW, please don't fuck up your winning nl500 game or whatever midstakes game you crush ♦
