Pot limit omaha hi
I will be folowing this blog as it will be a great motivation and example for me to follow !
Just wrote my own vision text and set some weekly goals. I really think it's great what you do for the community. And when I read between the lines, I can see that you are already living the dream or at least a part of it !
I have a master in educational studies myself because I was interested in how people learn and how I could help other people on this. I also believe people should try to achieve their dreams.
I really respect what you are doing. I'm sure I will learn a lot from you !
Ok, so it's 6.30am in the morning and i'm already in the office ♦. Which means that I woke up at 5am :). This is because i decided to give the philosophy of waking up early in the morning and getting a ton done before others even wake up a try. I'm going to try this at least for a week and see how it goes. It might be a bit problematic if I have some stuff to do in the evening, but I'll figure something out.
Last week was pretty good, I've managed to get in a lot of exercise time, started playing basketball and added the majority of the exercises from convict conditioning 2 to my workout.
During the next week, I am mostly going to focus on improving in poker. So i'm going to go through at least one of Lechrumski's videos and apply it to my game, while also having a fair amount of sweat sessions where I'm going to focus on improving in other aspects of poker (focus, thought process, etc.).
Should be a fun week!

What's my winrate?
It's time to rant a little bit :). Quite often I see people asking on the forums "what's a good winrate?" or "how big of a sample size do i need to know my winrate?".
Well, in my opinion, these questions are pretty damn pointless. People rely WAY too much on one single stat when determining whether they are winnign players or not.
First of all, there's sample size. We have all seen graphs with huge winnings/losses over a couple thousand hands. Of course such winrate/loserate is hardly maintainable. Then people ask, "if just a couple of thousand hands is too little, then what is a good sample size? 10k? 100k?".
Well, the thing is that you can really never know for sure what your realistic winrate was over a period of time, because it always depends on how good you're running. Yes, you can be extremely unlucky even over 100k hands.
And no, the EV line isn't a completely accurate estimation either. There are some situations in which EV is calculated rather badly and of course if you are on a heater and flop a lot of nuts, your EV will go up pretty much no matter what you do. If you run into the top of the ranges constantly, your EV will go down.
So no matter how big the sample size is, there will still be tons of different possible winrates (you can play a bit with variance simulators and you'll see).
Now, the second thing which people very very often forget is that your winrate is (or at least should be) constantly changing. Or should i say your skill level should constantly be changing. If you are serious about poker, you should constantly be improving your game, which should increase your winrate. So for example, your winrate should be different AFTER the 100k hands than BEFORE the 100k hands. So the winrate that the 100k hands will show is only the average winrate between the starting and ending winrate. If your winrate isn't changing over time (you're not improving), you're doing something very wrong.
So that's why you will never be able to know your exact winrate. Of course switching the limits etc. doesn't help the situation either, or switching sites, because the rake will be different, the skill levels will be different, etc.
Instead of focusing on the single statistic, you should instead focus on the things that you actually have an effect on - improving your game by constantly learning new things + fixing your leaks, and of course applying those things to your game.
End of rant.

People need rationalism in their life. To live in uncertainty is painfull. That's why most players use a lot of their mental resources to thinking about winrates, EV, what if... and so on.
I would say that winrate is highly dependable on opponents too. You should hive different edge during the weekends than during the weekdays. Maybe at evening, nights and afternoon too. And you propably aren't playing your A+ game all the time either.
I am blessed for not caring about winrate (but I am obsessed with EV). I just focus on making god decisions, one at the time.
It's like finding the "poker zen". Not caring for secondary things, playing only in pure harmony... Huzaah!
I almost wrote about that "mental commitment" to this thread, but decided to put it in my own blog.

1. Coaching rate discount
I am going to give you a special christmas discount for coachings/coaching packages if you decide to book a private productivity coaching until December 29th, 2012. This is a present from me to you because of the christmas spirit, but I also want you to take this opportunity and finally change your lives. I don't want you to be another one of those people who make new year's resolutions but give up on them after a week. I want to help you actually do them this time. That is why I am going to give you a 20% discount on the coachings. The first session should take place at the beginning of January, once you recover from the partying.
2. Gift certificates
You can of course give my coachings/coaching packages as a gift to one of your friends as well. If you think that he/she could really benefit from my coachings, you can of course pay for their sessions. If you are such a nice person, I will also reward you for that. You will be able to have a 20% discount on my coachings even after this promotion runs out.
3. Free coaching giveaway
I also want to give away one free coaching session to one of the guys who would wish to try out a coaching with me but just can't afford it at the moment. But I want you to put in at least a tiny bit of effort to do something positive for the community.
That is why I am going to randomly pick one of the guys who will reply to this thread and post a motivational poster in it that is somehow connected to success/motivation/ambition... (look for an example below).

Please resize the images appropriately before posting - 640x480 would be nice (you can use this link: http://www.postimage.org/index.php?um=image ).
You have to reply to this thread until Dec 24th at 23:59 CET. I will announce the winner of the raffle on the morning of Dec 25th. Our session will take place in the beginning of January.
Happy holidays everyone!
