That's a fair point in the hand evaluation thread, I'd forgotten that it's multiway with 2 still to act behind. Just hate the thought of giving a villain a chance to get a turn card fairly cheaply (in relation to pot size ofc :P) but yeah, pot control is probably a better idea now I've read that.

Yeah I guess there's always an arguement for everything really. I guess when we see AA, KK, QQ and even JJ there is a certain sense of entitlement to the pot even before we act ♦

When it goes multi-way as it so often does in the micros it can get really frustrating.

So I played 252 hands this morning and which took 2BIs shorter than 40 minutes Not bad going considering I am one tabling still. I had quite a lull period in the middle for about 90 or so hands where I just folded left, right and centre as my strategy suggests.

My stats for the session ended up 11/7 so that just goes to show how tight I am playing at the minute!

As to the last hand you posted, since this is NL2, my guess is A4o and if not some random 10x hand. If it were NL5 or NL10, it would make sense that villain played a mid pocket pair 55-99, or even 22 or 33 in this way.

11/7? Hmmmmm. I expect you'll make some money at NL2, but once you pass NL10/25 you'll need to open up a bit. Having said that, TT's new philosophy is 'tight is right'. Apparently he made all those monkey videos to persuade everyone to LAG it up, and now he's just pocketing their $$$$ by being a nit. Something to think about.

My 'standard' at nl4 is something like 17/15 on one table, but might be 30/25 on another, so don't go asking the usual; 'what's good stats for nl2?' It's about table/player dynamics and personal comfort. Add more hands when you're ready, not before and don't feel you 'should' be playing looser.

11/7 was just for the 252 hands from this morning but I guess over the 2k hands I've played thus far it wouldn't be that much higher. It certainly shouldn't be more than 14/12 as that is what my SHC plays.

I am still making plenty of newb mistakes post flop. AKo, I am finding very tricky at the minute. Obv when we get called left, right and centre and don't hit anything it's hard to know where we stand!

Sizings still need a little work on but Pleno has suggested to opening 3x from all positions vs. all opponents so I won't be changing from that.

Yes it is a challenge and a very big one to stay at one game over the course of the entire year. I just have to find the motivation to stick to it, keep learning and get as many hands as I can in Gotta hope for a bit of luck along the way too and thank you for your kind wishes!

I guess the games have become more and more reg fested in the last number of years so TT's new philosophy doesn't really surprise me. Even with my small sample I've seen numerous tight players at NL2! The future of the game looks a little tight.

Hopefully as I move up the limits, my ranges will open fairly wide but for now it's time to get the basics right ♦

If the villain's competent I'd expect a raise on the river here for value with Tx because bar you having quads which is obv highly unlikely, or you floating Qx two streets, which is also highly unlikely, then Tx is going to be best almost all the time.

I think he's showing up here with 4x and pps higher than 4 here, could have underpairs but if he's worth anything he should fold these. I think you're losing this a lot of the time unless the other guy is a total button masher because your hand if really a bluff catcher here.

If he's a fish though he could have a naked ace I think 4x and pps are most likely though.

Tight is right, is definitely wrong for 2013 NL6max if you're trying to play absolutely optimal.

For Gary it makes sense to play tight, as playing too loose is more of a leak than playing too tihgt and he can gradually open up his ranges rather than spewing about.

Anybody playing "tight" at NL100+ is generally burning money though.

I will sweat one table it doesn't matter and there is no surprise in that pleno1 has it nailed down as always; nl50 and stuff isn't a factor at all.

I think all those Monkeymode videos did their job, teach people to play postflop. Just knowing a starting hands chart isn't enough to win past a certain level.

Yeah AK is such a tricky hand if you're playing nitty. The only real way to make good $$ is second or third barrelling a lot, but that will be in NL5 and above. Problem is in NL2 people won't be even folding to two or three barrels. I'd give up any time you don't hit with AK on NL2.

First session of the new year started about 4 minutes after midnight here in Eire! The missus had done her level best to stay awake until midnight but she failed with about 20 minutes left in 2012 - that is pregnancy for you ladies and gentlemen.

So after the NY arrived I found myself to be not that tired so I thought why not play a few hands. Ended up being one of my most profitable sessions with over 2 1/2 BI banked.

Villain in the 33 hand had a combination of 2 draws so I can why he shoved. 9 8 but what I am more interested in here is whether or not I can call that profitably in the long run
