exploiting a calling station

My opponent (BTN) is a calling station. He is a 78/4 player with 22% AFreq (very low) and 40% WTSD (very high), although that's with just 27 hands and at the time of this hand I had much less.

It's so rare that you have an opportunity for a full body slam like this in Omaha, especially with the nut flush, so I really enjoyed this hand. I wouldn't play like this versus a normal opponent. I played this hand in a style that works well in limit Hold'em: bet the nuts on the flop, which they don't expect in Hold'em, then represent a failed bluff by checking the turn, and finally spring the trap with a raise. Is there much place for this in PLO? Given that my opponent is not aggressive, would betting pot on the turn have been better on average than a razzle dazzle check-raise?

What should have been my game plan versus a tough opponent (who limped earlier than the button, presumably)? Should I still bet full pot on the flop, because that's what I'd do with just the nut flush blocker? Then what on the turn, 2/3 pot because I suspect a set?

I have another hand or two with this opponent that I'll post in this thread after the feedback on this one.

I would bet/bet/bet once he is a passive CS.

I don't think you should be firing full pot at the flop, this is a little extreme. However once you get called I would assume villain has some piece of the board so would fire again on the turn and river since the SPR is such that we can get all in simply by betting.

I don't like the idea of checking the turn because if villain checks behind then we can't get all in on the river.

There is an advantage of checking the turn in the hand above; I was guessing he called with one pair on the flop, and I was worried about him slipping off the line if I bet the turn. However, I will take your advice and just keep betting next time.

Here is another hand against the same 78/4 calling station, now MP.

PartyGaming - $0.10 PL Hi (6 max) - Omaha Hi - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BB: 236.2 BB
UTG: 210.7 BB
MP: 96.8 BB
CO: 120.3 BB
Hero (BTN): 159.2 BB
SB: 97.4 BB

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has J♠ 2♠ K♦ Q♦

fold, MP raises to 3.5 BB, CO calls 3.5 BB, Hero calls 3.5 BB, fold, fold

Flop: (12 BB, 3 players) 4♦ Q♥ 6♠
MP checks, CO checks, Hero bets 11.4 BB, MP calls 11.4 BB, fold

Turn: (34.8 BB, 2 players) 9♠
MP checks, Hero bets 33.1 BB, MP calls 33.1 BB

River: (101 BB, 2 players) 2♣
MP checks, Hero ???

Spoiler

Hero checks

MP shows K♣ A♣ J♣ A♠ (One Pair, Aces) (Pre 66%, Flop 62%, Turn 59%)
Hero shows J♠ 2♠ K♦ Q♦ (Two Pair, Queens and Twos) (Pre 34%, Flop 38%, Turn 41%)
Hero wins 96 BB

Should I have thin value bet my rivered two pair against this particular opponent?

The turn is the other big question mark. I figure to be behind (due to his low PFR), my opponent is passive and won't thin value bet the river even if I take a free card, and my opponent is incapable of folding a pair. Does all that point to checking?

To induce a (semi)bluff from passive calling station isn't the best strategy in PLO. Against those players you most of your money with flop and turn value bets. I agree with Ribbo, bet less on flop and keep firing when you have the nuts. If he has smaller flush, he will call you down but might not bet it himself at any point.
