I'm torn between that and just gritting my teeth and getting more hands in, if I keep playing I think it'll help me deal with any future downswings, and hopefully pull some money back,I know I just gotta play through it and keep doing the best I can, I don't think that losing is making me play worse. That said, if I lose even more, it's probably going to mess me up a little

probly need to stop thinking about how much money your losing and just concentrate on playing every hand well

I think I just have to put the latter half of this week down to variance, sure I probably make the occasional mistake that can end up costing me a bit more, but most of my big pot losses in these kinds of sessions come from getting pretty unlucky, either a loose bluffer making a monster while i hit TP or better, or a cooler where I get caught up against all odds But that's over now, I'm down a little bit for the week but with some of my bonus that was released by bankroll is a tiny bit bigger. Put it behind me, play as well as I can, go onwards and upwards

4147, I ended up with an extra shift, and on the days I was off I was busy, so came up a bit short this week, 5k is too high when life gets in the way

Adjust my game in the ways mentioned in targets above so that I have an idea how to get out of trouble spots.
I made these adjustments, and tbh as a result I felt like I got into less tough spots, so they must be good

No MTTs! Let's work our way up the cash games until I have a decent sized bankroll first

Pay more attention to people who float flop cbets and bet the turn when you check, or who cbet the flop and give up on the turn when they miss. First type of player can get money from me for nothing, I should either barrel turn too so they figure I'm not FoS, or check-raise their turn bet and make them crap themselves. Second type is a gold mine as long as I have the balls to float with air.

Stop restealing loose vs unknowns. This often costs me a little when I've just joined a table and I assume most stealers have nothing, some don't.

IMO though you should really should be raising his bet on the flop, I need to know stats etc.. but hes betting allot here.. I would raise the flop, fold to a reraise and if he calls, see what he does on turn.. but with that 7s you are looking to get him on hard decisions..

the best type of play is aggressive ♦ That way you dont get that hero call on the river, as you wont be right as much as you need to.. he does this with AJ, 22, 66.. very rarely will he be donk betting 3 streets as a bluff at this limit.

Apologies, I didn't mention that this guy was a total maniac who I'd seen barreling every street with or without the betting lead and showing down air, the rest of the table was playing scared and basically folding anything bar premiums, so in this hand I grew some balls and decided I'd go for tp or better and let him donk into me. I tanked hard when the overshoved the river, but he's playing (and raising) near enough every hand and unless he has a set (unlikely), AJ (also unlikely) or some random 2p (possible I admit) then I'm golden, and since I've seen him show down air I feel obligated to grow a pair and call him down. And it worked I just forgot to mention reads in the hand.

This is why I don't recommend doing this move on micro-stakes. Oveerbet doesn't work, if villain is a station. You just donate your stack faster ♦

Update!

Could have done this at the weekly one on Friday, but it's fairly significant for me so I'll put it up here now.

I had a nice ~$15 profit for the day on Friday, running miles above my usual bb/100 (and funnily enough actually running below EV :P), was all good, later on in the day I saw a hand someone linked of them busting out a guy in the first hand of a HU SnG, the fish who busted out played absolutely terribly and I asked if a lot of the players were like that and he said they were.

So I jumped into these games (only $1.50 BI) and gave them a tiny go, won 7/10 and tbh in two of the ones I lost I played like a donk. So I think alright, let's move up a level. So I play 20 $3.50s and this time end up only winning 8. Now at this point I'm faced with a decision, because I feel I've played decently in these, obviously I'm still learning as I'm new to the heads-up scene, but I ran like crap in flips and I feel like I was playing well enough to at least BE. So I decide to move up to $7s regardless, my roll is big enough if I use 30 BIs as a guideline, and if I manage to hit $450 I can take a swing at the $15s.

At time of writing this, I've played 46 $7s and won 27, for a ROI of 11.9%, $38.18 profit made. For the week, that means I'm up $23.64 in these games taking into account my losses from $3s and winnings from $1.50s, and ofc I have the profit I made from my cash game onto that.

Now I appreciate that [ ] sample size, but as things have gone so far I'm seriously considering dropping cash and making HU SnGs my regular game:

1) If my winrate continues like this ~10% ROI, I'll be making more from these than I would at NL10, if we assume 5bb/100 at NL10. I'll get around 200 hands per hour at NL10, for $1/hr, at SnGs I'll make $0.70 per game and play 2-3 per hour so $1.40-$2.10/hr. If I played enough/went to stakes high enough I'd also make a killing from rakeback.

2) I can move up in stakes with a lower bankroll in these SnGs than I'd need for NL25 ($450 for 30BIs @ $15 HU SnG, $750 for 30BIs @ NL25)

3) I enjoy them a lot more. In cash games I'm always making an effort to identify and exploit weaknesses in bad players, but good players, or players with strong hands, can often get in your way. At these games, it's just you and them. No TAG reg is going to come and stop that aggrofish 3betting every other hand. No one else is going to call down that guy who limps every hand oop and then overbets every street. It's not going to cut it to just autofold every hand that isn't a pp or broadway (I've actually seen players do that in these games; they're terrible). All the action is on you. It's up to you to find your opponent's weaknesses and use them to your advantage. And I really enjoy this

Great day so far, played 9, played the first 3 against the same terribad player, first game got instashoved into first hand and had TT so I called and ran into A3s, they flopped a straight, second game we got it all in pre again early on QQ vs 22, flopped a 2 and got no help. After winning the third game I then played this guy who cbet really transparently (cbet any pair/some draws), would never fold to my cbets, and would stack off /w any pair if I raised him, and he kept accepting my rematches, so played 6 and won 5 of those just by stacking off whenever I hit 2p or better. Now up $17 for the day despite my runbad start ♦ Gonna play the Hot $3.30 now for giggles, I just can't resist MTTs!

Loving these games, absolutely loving it. Had above EV sessions and below EV sessions, but at the moment my bankroll's sitting pretty at $360 with another $10 bonus in 5 VPPs, really enjoying these games, and I feel like I'm playing well, occasionally sucking out, occasionally getting sucked out on, but usually managing to figure out an opponents weakness, backing them into a corner, then finishing them ♠_evil:

Hope I'm not on some ridiculous heater because I'd be happy to keep playing these things forever

Hu sngs aren't as much fun as you might think. I played them for a month and all it's really about is avoiding regs and only playing fish. Playing fish isn't challenging at all and some of their tendencies (min donk betting every hand for instance) will drive you crazy.

That said if you don't mind it then definitely go for it, you can make some serious amount of cash playing them for sure.

I guess I could find it a grind over time, but at the moment I'm loving it and I'm doing really well. If I continue getting good results this week I'm strongly considering starting a new blog next Friday to focus on HU SnGs and targets for those, making them my main game. My hourly is much better from these so far, I suspect I'm running better than I would on average but even with a lower ROI I'd still be better off for the amount of time I'm investing.

Villain opens his tight-ish (for HU) range from the button and I call because I don't like trying to 3bet this guy as a bluff when his opening range is tighter than most.

With an all diamond flop I decide to take a chance and donk bet at it to rep the flush and to stop him getting a free card if he's drawing to the flush, villain is pretty weak postflop and I haven't been caught bluffing him so far. When he raises back at me I'm a little concerned, but he might do this with a single diamond, so I decide to call and check the turn, if he checks back I can assume he's drawing, if he bets big I can assume he flopped the flush and fold it. Yeah, he gets a free card if he's drawing because I don't bet, but I'd rather that then get raised again on the turn and have no idea where I'm at.

That said, my plan goes out the window when I boat up ott, now I decide that I can either check to him and see what he does, or donk bet again and try to look like I'm bluffing him. Since he raised the flop, it only makes sense for him to have a monster hand or a monster draw, and both are likely to look me up if I bet again, whereas the draw might check back ott and I miss value/the opportunity to jam on the river without overbetting the pot, so I donk again and get called this time. Now I'm fairly convinced he's drawing.

River is music to my ears, I'm adamant that he's made his flush here, so I let him bet at it and sure enough he does, jam on him and get called, see that I was drawing pretty slim from the moment the flop came down

But no, we're looking likely to split, I have 9 outs to win the hand, he has 3. Rage ensued.
