I played some NL50 Rush last night, and I really enjoyed myself, even though I finished slightly down. I didn't have to play, but I wanted to. Early on, I had some unknown guy jam 100bb from the BB with AA (TwiceT style - he'll know what I mean), and I called it off with AKo, which didn't end well. As I see it, this is usually going to play out 3/4/5bet all in, so he's an arse for playing AA like that against my super-weak button range, but I suppose there's an argument that says he levelled me into spewing off a stack like a bo$$. However, Professor GTO says that folding AKo there is a tad exploitable.
I was going to write about all the various options that I have now that I don't have to play for the book, but I've decided that I'm going to keep on playing Rush and/or Zoom, try to establish myself on NL100 and sit there printing money for the foreseeable future. I realize that I'm setting myself up to look like an arse if I keep losing, but I have some evidence that my recent bad run is just that, a bad run of cards ($1.2K below AI EV has to mean something, even if it's not the whole story). I think I can beat these games now. I will ofc carry on having an MTT night three or four times a month because I luuuurv MTTs.
I also think I've got the playing live thing out of my system now. I just can't face playing 40 hands/hour, sitting there waiting for good hands and getting paid off, which is basically how one beats these silly limp, limp, call a raise with anything games, even if you can pick up the odd pot with a well-timed bluff. I'll probably still go and play live once a month or so just for the lols.
I'm just waiting for a couple of edits from Manu, and the first draft of the book will be finished. Later this week we'll be sending it out to various people to read. ♠_cool:
