22$ 6max JJ on river

Im prolly going for 4bet/get it in vs that type of player. He seems weak given the information you gave for him, and also he is russian which means he is prolly aggresive enough( ♠_biggrin: ) to make this 4bet/call profitable. And its a 6-max.

Why didnt we bet that flop? I dont think he is checking often strong hands here unless he has something like TT.

Pretty strange play from him.

I also do think that he is not shoving AQ/KK+ here, which narrows his value range to like TT/QQ and nothing?

He might be doing some random bluffs. Wouldnt be supprised, and if we think that he is cbetting QQ on that flop, that means his value range is like 3 combos..

Hey, thanks for your thoughts! I didn't wanted to 4bet/broke with this hand, since it's a quite deep and slow tourney and I had pretty bad players at the table. 4bet/broke I guess is +EV, but with quite high variance, which I didn't think I have to take at all costs.

Yeah the flop check is weird. I mean, he should bet all his range on this T33. So it was hard for me to put him on a range, and I wouldn't really know what I'm betting against. And what do I do, if I get a huge raise or something.

Yea. The downside of betting the flop is if we get check/raised and we will be in a very tough spot. Although I dont expect him to do that play often.

It really depends on the player but there is some players that check/call AK/AQ here, not sure why, but they do. If the guy is a good player he would never check this board no matter what he is holding.

I prolly like betting here to protect our equity vs some random over cards and not put myself in a tough spots later on, although there arent that many bad cards for us.

Given that he seems quite gambly, I think it's quite a mistake to not 4bet/call against him (for reference: I feel I 4bet/call a lot less than other regs do!/I flat 3bets a lot more than others do!)

As played I'd just bet the flop, though I don't hate checking the flop. If you bet, against this guy I think we can bet/call flop, fold blank turn.

Turn is standard.

River's weird. Honestly it looks like he may have QQ that went for a tricky c/r on the flop, or maybe TT. He can even have a bare overpair or Qx, given his overplay on AA8 with A5. I don't think his value range is narrow enough, so I would fold.

But I saw that he's on the killing spree and saw what would have been the result, so I prevented it by losing the minimum ♠_biggrin:.

Just for reference, I think this hand can give us an insight about how a lot of people play these wonder nuts hands.
Ive been in similar situations as villain and the first thought is oh god I cant bet this flop in case I scare off the punter. Its then easy to try to bet small to get some action then get as much as possible on the river, hoping the other guy caught some sort of a hand.
I think it shows that he would have got a lot more in the pot if he had just bet out on the flop. You would have either flatted or maybe raised and he has lots of options then.
He can then check the turn maybe and let you bet

Yes exactly. I would have called at least two streets that's for sure. Maybe could have folded the river on a big bet. But yeah, lucky for me that this player wanted to be tricky and made me lose the least.
