Yeah. Fortunately a lot of this is on ftp where EV isn't being calculated; so red and green lines run together regardless of how well or badly you got your money in.

For example:

Grabbed by Holdem Manager
NL Holdem $40(BB) Replayer
SB ($560)
BB ($385)
Hero ($855)

Dealt to Hero J♦ Q♥

Hero raises to $855 (AI), fold, BB calls $345 (AI)

FLOP ($790) 6♦ 7♣ 3♥

TURN ($790) 6♦ 7♣ 3♥ K♣

RIVER ($790) 6♦ 7♣ 3♥ K♣ 2♦

Hero shows J♦ Q♥
(Pre 69%, Flop 13.8%, Turn 6.8%)

BB shows 6♠ Q♠
(Pre 31%, Flop 86.2%, Turn 93.2%)

BB wins $790

And, against the same player:

Grabbed by Holdem Manager
NL Holdem $30(BB) Replayer
Hero ($300)
BB ($300)
UTG ($300)
UTG+1 ($300)
CO ($300)
BTN ($300)

Dealt to Hero J♥ J♠

fold, fold, fold, BTN raises to $60, Hero raises to $300 (AI), fold, BTN calls $240 (AI)

FLOP ($630) K♣ T♦ 2♣

TURN ($630) K♣ T♦ 2♣ A♦

RIVER ($630) K♣ T♦ 2♣ A♦ 4♦

Hero shows J♥ J♠
(Pre 73%, Flop 11.0%, Turn 13.6%)

BTN shows 6♣ K♦
(Pre 27%, Flop 89.0%, Turn 86.4%)

BTN wins $630

The second game is recorded by HEM as $0 EV difference despite being a 72.2% favorite pre. Every time I see this particular player in the $115 lobby, I insta-reg knowing two unasailable facts:

1. He will r/c off light (seems to be a matter of principle for him, so as not to get exploited by light 3bs ) or just call off light and I will get my money in absurdly well.
2. He will keep sucking out on me in the most grotesque manner possible.

On the other hand, these suckouts are keeping him playing so it's all good. Anyway, I'm off out for a family lunch now, where I will try to forget about tanking $3.5k in the last 250 games.

Have a great Sunday all and thanks for dropping by!

A lot of good stuff happened this month. Sadly online poker wasn't one of them. After getting off to my best ever start, everything began to go wrong about a week ago and just kept getting wronger (because that's a word).

On the plus side, I managed my target of 500 games at an ABI of $100+. Whilst the short term results are obviously discouraging, boosting both games per hour and ABI has to be the right idea for maximising long-term profitability. My last serious downswing/breakeven stretch was in the summer so I guess I can't complain that I have run into one now.

The Numbers:

Cash: +c$100
STT Tournaments: 518
Average buyin: $104.86
ROI: -2.1%

SNG profit: -$1165.06
Estimated rakeback: $846.46 = [$515.81 (PS/PP/FTP points); $115.65 (FTP Edge weekly); $115 FTP Sng L/bd; $100 Stellar reward;]
Other earnings: $320
Expenses (sharkscope etc.) -$95
Total Profit: c$4.51
Hours: = 62.3
$/hr: $0.0724

In terms of the good stuff, I really enjoyed my skiing holiday. Meeting up with the Zimmers, as well as catching up with my brother, in Nottingham was also great fun.

There's some good things to look forward to in March, too: a family get-together for my stepmother's 60th birthday and the London World Chess Championship Candidates Tournament in the second half of the month. I'm going to try to get tickets for a few of the days' play and make the most of being able to take time off when I want to instead of moaning about running bad.

Poker planning for March is as follows:

  1. 800 games;
  2. ABI $100; and
  3. If and when BR = 200x, where x is ABI, procure ABI of $110 by introducing $200s up to 10% of total volume

Thanks for reading and let's hope the current malingering results don't continue for too long...

Hi Tim, have you checked second video from Glitlr? It has bring up some debate if nothing else. There certainly is some flaws and lack of explanation, but really those accusations are too harsh imo.

Ugly second part for February. How do you find those games with that avg. bin goal? At least in pokerstars I have bit of hard time to find good games in 100$ games. Almost always 2 good regs sitting and some unknown that is multitabling (likely reg) when I check tables. So if I would register there would be at least 4 regs and for 6max game that is already bad. Hard to beat rake for anyone in such table.

Hey, I commented on the Glitlr video. It's clearly not a scam; just a video whose content is simply not appropriate (sufficiently advanced) for Diamond members, imho.

The games everywhere are pretty brutal, I'm afraid. FTP/PP/Stars; story the same. Regs, regs, regs. I just do the best I can and avoid the worst games. But margins get thinner all the time. X(

Yeah totally agree on that diamond level aspect. Checked March video content and all future videos from him are marked as diamond also.

I have some hope that this recent horror will end at some point. I am still seeing stuff like this, after all:

$100 hyper turbo.

Grabbed by Holdem Manager
NL Holdem $60(BB) Replayer
Hero ($523)
BB ($1,130)
CO ($258)
BTN ($1,089)

Dealt to Hero A♥ 9♠

fold, BTN raises to $120, Hero raises to $517 (AI), fold, BTN calls $397

FLOP ($1,118) 4♠ J♦ 6♠

TURN ($1,118) 4♠ J♦ 6♠ 5♠

RIVER ($1,118) 4♠ J♦ 6♠ 5♠ T♥

BTN shows 4♥ 5♥
(Pre 40%, Flop 73.2%, Turn 79.5%)

Hero shows A♥ 9♠
(Pre 60%, Flop 26.8%, Turn 20.5%)

BTN wins $1,118

BU is a reg. He's making $0.23/game after 20k games. I feel it should be a lot more since he has realised he can profitably induce vs light 3b's with 45s as the chip leader.
Strike that. He's making $0.12/game now. Recently lost $20k. But not on tilt at all...

$100 Turbo

Grabbed by Holdem Manager
NL Holdem $50(BB) Replayer
Hero ($900)
BB ($2,746)
UTG ($1,815)
CO ($1,810)
BTN ($1,729)

Dealt to Hero 7♦ 7♥

fold, fold, BTN raises to $125, Hero raises to $900 (AI), fold, BTN calls $775

FLOP ($1,850) T♦ A♠ K♥

TURN ($1,850) T♦ A♠ K♥ 4♦

RIVER ($1,850) T♦ A♠ K♥ 4♦ 3♣

BTN shows 5♦ A♣
(Pre 30%, Flop 90.4%, Turn 95.5%)

Hero shows 7♦ 7♥
(Pre 70%, Flop 9.6%, Turn 4.5%)

BTN wins $1,850

BU is a reg. Sharkscope is locked. But I'm sure he's destroying the games. A5o is a snap value call, and miles ahead of my range.

I watched You Only Live Twice (or 'Bond shags his way across Japan') last week. It was pretty dreadful.....with the notable exception of the pirhanas and the teeny tiny helicopter with the rockets and the flame thrower.
