1. Can you be more specific? Do you tend to over think when you player higher limits and/or regs or mostly when playing lower limits vs fish for example?

Yes mostly when playing higher limits and mostly against other regulars, tho it does happen against fish too. But fish just doesn't put you in tougher spots very often so it's not as noticeable.

It happened a lot last year when I was moving back up in stakes. I just tend to change my game too much when playing higher than my usual stakes without any reason other than me playing higher and end up either calling lighter in some spots or folding more than I should in other spots, being over aggressive sometimes or too passive etc.

It makes me fear moving up because in the past it always took me at least few times of having to deal with big downers and having to rebuild due to this play bad problem.

2. The video series I'm making for the BC will address exactly this issue. Why do you think that you autopilot so much? Do you still feel motivated about the game while playing? Do you actively study to keep the game fun? How would you say you struggle with results orientation?

I just don't feel like I'm capable of concentrating on anything for prolonged periods of time and some days even for short periods. Not sure why it is that way.

Currently yes, I do feel motivated while playing mainly because I switched from zoom to anon tables which is a fresh game for me and that does raise my interest.

I do not really enjoy grinding for long hours, two to three hours once in few days is fun and I do play better that way but then I feel like I'm just a slacker.

I do enjoy studying much more than actually playing, tho somehow I keep slipping off of study schedule and just grind until my game starts weakening.

Don't think there's much problem with results orientation as I tend to not look at my results for weeks or a month. Tho my girlfriend always seems to tell when I had bad few days while I don't really notice it myself.

3. Why do you think you burnout so often? What does it feel like? Can you take me through an average week were you start out well and then feel your about to burn out?

I'm not sure, stress just accumulates and erupts at some point. I'm never able to tell when it's going to happen. It feels like I'm just angry at everything that happens at the table, even if it's something I wouldn't even be paying any attention to it on normal days.

Think bootcamp is making effect on my play, I've been experimenting quite a bit most days this month, made a bunch of mistakes ofc which is usual with trying out new things.

Today was especially adventurous day trying to pleno around. Here's some more interesting hands of today.

€0.50/€1 No Limit Holdem
5 Players
Hand Conversion Powered by weaktight.com

Stacks:
Hero (UTG) (€148.38) 148bb
CO (€147.63) 148bb
BTN (€130.89) 131bb
SB (€101.08) 101bb
BB (€67.87) 68bb

Pre-Flop: (€1.50, 5 players) Hero is UTG A♠ K♣
Hero raises to €3, CO raises to €10, 3 folds, Hero calls €4

Flop: 10:heart: 8♠ 10:club: (€18.50, 2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets €10.50, Hero calls €10.50

Turn: 2♥ (€39.50, 2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets €25, Hero raises to €50, CO folds

Final Pot: €114.50

Hero wins €114.50 (net +€47)

CO lost €45.50

Kind of a weird spot, was up against seemingly decently aggro reg yet didn't feel like 4betting/getting in preflop would be best play. My image was clean TAG, OTT decided it's an awesome price for a bluff and set up a river shove well, he can't have much hands that'd be thrilled stacking off, I block AA, KK, rep 888, Tx myself and want to have some air ofc which is hard to come by in such spot. Intended to shove the river on which I'm not too sure.

1 fold, UTG+1 raises to €3, Hero calls €3, 3 folds

Flop: 3♥ 5♥ 5♠ (€7.50, 2 players)
UTG+1 bets €5, Hero calls €5

Turn: K♠ (€17.50, 2 players)
UTG+1 bets €12, Hero raises to €28, UTG+1 calls €4

River: 10:heart: (€61.50, 2 players)
UTG+1 checks, Hero goes all-in €179.36, UTG+1 folds

Final Pot: €240.86

Hero wins €249.86 (net +€34.50)

UTG+1 lost €24

Here I messed up my turn raise sizing and should've made more I think as now I'm leaving exactly psb OTR. Again vs taggy player and my image is clean.

This one is weird but brings up a thing that I think is definite leak of mine and of many SSNL regs. My checking ranges on such boards are way too weak and I'm not exactly sure what hands should I put into my c/c and c/r ranges to balance that out. W two overs +bdfd felt good enough to be a c/3 bluff part of my check/defending range.

i like first hand - a 3beting range shudnt ahve Tx v often.

think 2nd hand is rlly unbalanced and you only show up with bluffs there. river is good bluffing card tho.
you have options when double calling: we can rep hearts, hit spades maybe bluffcatch on Q and J. also, i think he mite be rlly unbalanced in his river sizing with 88-QQ so that we can jam sometimes.

i like 3rd hand too. especially vs a seemingly small stab. bdfd is a must have btw given how often he could play back this texture.

Yea think it's pretty unbalanced, don't think I show up w only bluffs tho as I think I would rr turn w heart draws that have little SD val too as there's not much playability for those OTR and I think that most villains perceive that at least sometimes I have 33.

The other thing that I thought was, oh cool, I have close to half the deck I can ship the river on. :f_biggrin:

But yea, double calling sounds reasonable like a good way to play it.

The issue about the lack of concentration is something you can practice in Meditation You can also read my article Here if you haven't.

You have to practice concentration and focus. A lot of it is also repetitive negative patterns that drains your energy and focus quickly. So you also need to work on you energy conservation so to say. Begin with practicing 2-3 times per day for two weeks and see for yourself if there is any improvement :)

Hey Erik. I do your meditation since the vid came out and quite enjoy it. What's this energy conservation you speak of? Is the meditation supposed to help me with that?

The energy conservation comes indirectly from mindfulness in the way that it slows down you mind and your not spending an inappropriate amount of focus on decision or things out side of poker. The calmer you are and less negative thoughts and tilt that shows up in a session will make you be able to play lonegr an with higher quality.

Add me on Skype if you want another Mindfulness mp3 to work with :)

Hi Almantas,

Just popped in to see if you were having any positive result from the energy consevation?
It's not something that would immediately srping to my mind until I did it to be honest, then it likely would seem an obvious thing; but I'm a bit slow like that! :)

Have fun,

Mal.
