Play money tournaments where players don't all-in every hand

Unfortunately play money games are always going to be a little frustrating especially during the first 20-30 minutes.

Playing tight however is a good thing, especially in the early stages. We would be doing this also if it was a real money game so I wouldn't get too annoyed over it to be honest!

As for playing options - I really don't know to be honest. I know the US situation sucks and hopefully things will change sooner rather than later

Thanks. Don't get me wrong, I usually do very well in these play money tournaments by playing tight. But I end up trying to play 2 or 3 tables at once just because I folded my Q-Js for the twentieth time and have to wait to see which bad player happens to hit his draw.

Also what often happens is, if I happen to get something like K-K I go all in with them and get way ahead. But if I don't I end up with maybe 1.5-2x my starting stack when the rest of the table chased someone all-in with A-9 and happened to win that hand and thus has 4-8x their original stack.

Full Tilt has this system where you start with 1000 play chips, then they have tournaments at 100, 250, 1000, 2000, 10000, etc buy ins up to the millions, so it seems to be set up that if you don't do well at the lower level tournaments you can't have access to the higher level tournaments. Once I build up my total, do people play better at the higher level play money tourneys? I'm currently at about ~11000.

I cannot say whether or not players get better/worse as you move up the play money fields because I've never really played them to be honest and especially not in the last 4 years. The way I play - I probably should be playing them but that's another story ♦

Ooh, I just realized I was looking in the wrong state.

I looked at the websites for Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun and didn't really have any tournaments that cost less than $150.

But, the charitable poker rooms in New Hampshire have buyins in the $40-$50 range. A far less intimidating cost for a beginner.

Did you try CardPlayer Poker? I played it a bit and don't remember too many problems with people going all-in all the time. AFAIK it's legal to play it in the US.

Have you looked into bitcoin poker?
