Why was the plan to lead non hearts? I'd say if I were to play it that way heart would be a gin bluffing card as we rep flushes rly well and he probably won't have many of those after taking this line.

Turn call looks spewy tho

dont think he bet/calls sets/str8 on the flop.
dont think he raises Ax 2p or Ax ott.
so im left with some bluffs like str8draws some weak pairs that dont want to call down and some hearts - agree i dont expect hearts to raise turn v often but mb some %.

hence i dont think he can call on hearts ; not sure Khi sd value is good that often though give he could be bluffing with better hands.
not sure about 3betting the turn...

From my perspective it's that we rep FD very well OTT and once the hear hits checking with flushes prob won't lead villain into making much mistakes as I doubt we'll be getting bluffed much and he'll prob c/beh w value hands a lot too. So IMO leading river w flushes+bluffs feels like could be better play range vs range wise.

And then in that case we'd have to decide what we'd want to lead as a bluff and lowest end of our range seems about right for that. And I have hard time imagining you having any worse than Khi in such spot.

Ofc it's prob fine to not lead river w flushes, but still given how good this card is for our range and bad for his the bluff should be higher ev in vacuum than checking w Khi.

With that said, it's purely a speculation by a player of same stakes. :f_biggrin:

hey
yeh actually thought about your post and you're right. hearts are actually v v good cards to bluff for us. just thought ig that he would have air or draws too often but agree fd's generally dont play or at least dont size this way ott.

should i have hearts in this spot id play purely exploitive and would check river :P
OOOORRRR lead 32 haha.

can't lead THIS heart though _cool:

Will need to give it more thoughts later.

Do that and try it out and see what yuo come up with. i'm here if yuo need any questions :)

Hey

Been a long time since my last post but i have been quite biiisy.
Uni work, went back to the gym (i cant walk anymore but w/e).
Also went on a trip to Man City/Liverpool with some Erasmus lads - was awesome.

So more socializing than playing lately. This is probably my mindset atm

Anyway, Easter time is getting closer and i should be able to book some sessions.
Poker-wise i have watched Erics vid on meditation and loved it. Been putting in some 10min sessions.
Also back to the gym as said maybe it'll help my concentration too.

here are some pics of the trip
(Im guy on the very right second last picture).

Spoiler

alright we DID went sightseeing a bit... :P

Nice to hear you like it. One thing you can try is to when you work out and are exhausted. 5 30 second sprints max on the treadmill is enough. Then try to slow you heartbeat down etc with the meditation and focusing on the breath. :)

how's your mindset atm? Are you back on track?

As for my mindset you bet im back on track! :P
Just waiting for my bb's on microgaming. mite also play some live cash in newcastle its been a while since last time but i would need stacking. nl200 is crazy over there they all sat with 300 min average is prolly about 400ish and they straddle like 50% and it ends up being 4/8 quite often. so need to be deep haha will talk to some ppl.

Apart from that im on 5 gym sessions/week, eat super healthy, worked out a plan/schedule (have shit loads of work to do for the uni but still want to go to gym and play like 1k hands a day).

Poker-wise i followed Eric/Primoz and Cerans advice: stopped watching vid and just play and focus on decisions/instincts. prolly just running good + nl50 is really easy but results have been good so far.
Focusing on defending my BB vs BU 2x although not many ppl 2x their bu at nl50. would need to work out the gto ranges to play vs 3x.
also they open ridic tight like 35% :baby: so would need to adjust.
i focus a lot on every postflop sizings from villains and try to come up with more bluffing spots.
think i get a better sense of preflop dynamic too as i found myself to 5bet shove as a bluff 2/3 times which i used to never do.

Stopped the meditation sessions though...

• i dont waste much time on negative thoughts EXCEPT one: no matter how good the decision was if we're all in and there's one or more streets to come i want to see the RESULT SO BAD.
This is a huge waste of actual energy for me. Luckily i dont play many tables like 6-7 max but still when this happens, there is NO WAY i can think the other table's hand straight.
Think ways of dealing with that are a) experience but mostly b) my PHYSICAL shape. And mindfulness obviously.

• C-Game: another thing is about my c-game. i dont spew or tilt much but what i do in these "c-game times" is to treat a spot like one of say 20 typical poker spots and dont give much attention to the unique aspect of the actual hand. No wonder why we're all so good when we come back after having stopped for a while: we treat every hand like a unique child or sth and pay attention to every single detail.
Also related to my physical shape in the moment. if i dont do any sport but play like 3k hands a day im going to be c-gaming v often from the 2nd/3rd week on. Obviously if i slept great in the past 3 days then it happens much less often.

• My A-Game
I feel very well physically.
i want to think of any possible way to win the hand (if i have air) or value as much as i can.
Im actually thinking of every option i have as absurd as it might sound from a so-called standard poker play.
But im not blindly bluffing and know when to let go - aware dynamic-wise (can be so stuupid sometimes from this pov).
I have their preflop range so nailed.
Im aware of previous >50bb pots on every single table and i take v clever notes (like gameplan-oriented).
I lose 200bb without even blinking.
My river Afq is > 30 lol.
I dont skype much if at all.
Anticipation: specially stat-anticipation. and im already thinking about what to do if i face a lead river or a raise now if i bet this street.
Also, im thinking of the deck as bluffing opportunities even when i have like a top pair (or a flush apparently ^^). this helps me a loooot when i dont have initiative and lets face it, since nowadays every reg knows the importance of it its so crucial to learn how to play without it.
Eric's speech on Awareness: the river spot facing ifficult decision: "In this moment you want to focus on hand range, pot odds, ... anything else that comes up is going to steal focus away like losing or winning the pot. Anything that has nothing to do that constructively helps you with the POKER decision."
This is so freaking true. In these moments im not even bothering about what will be the results of the hand, what should a great poker player do here, what the sickos i know expect from me etc im just looking for the facts/piece of info that will make me take the best decision i can at this moment. This is sssssoo relevant online especially on websites where you have like a 10seconds time bank.
-> doing the Triangle mindfulness exercise (12:35). But i prefer doing it this way: breathing in and out on each point of the triangle and then move on to the next one. (harder to keep the count this way though)
Also, i realised today during my run-mindfulness hour that it helps
focusing more on the sound my tranings or my legs are doing while running than focusing on the breath or my body.

• Writing down pre and in-session patterns of very good and bad sessions could be interesting to do.
Although apart from being active + good sleep patter im not a big fan of going through a v specific/detailed pattern: think it works against poker creativity and curiosity.

@Pat: dunno i just cba doing it. I found a way of doing it though: i try to do it while i go running (and it is so fkn hard ^^).
for the hand yeh im pretty sure hes folding every flush (although im not sure i have a FH very often but he almost certainly cant have one or can he?)

On a side note: a friend of mine and i have had the idea of doing a round the world trip in a year/1 andhalf year for a while now. Hes a big fan a personal development stuff - things Primoz preaches.
The project is starting looking serious and i would need to have a much more serious/"professional" approach to it. When i first moved up through the limits this is what i used to do: i wrote long-term, mid-term and short-term goals. I will do it again for this project.
"long-term" goals dont have to be income & poker-related necessarily - there mite be some kind of financial help out there or other ways of doing these kinds of journey.
Also the goal could go beyond the trip itself like maybe it'll help to understand me better, to know what i want to do with the rest of my life - or at least the next 10 years etc.

Anyway, heading to Aspers now. _evil:

Just came back from aspers. was quite boring, felt a bit sleepy so didnt play my best. i deffo need to stop socializing my game is way worse i dont take mental notes of the other plays etc.
Could have focused on sizing patterns much more too.
Also really need to adapt my game and play funky bluffy raise lines.
They bet in kinda weird spot where rebluffing river turns out to be better than calling.
K8o i open hu, bb calls HU. 632hh6o2o i cbet he calls turn check check; he leads river A7o i call obv...
last hand of the night; 52o in BB gets limped 3handed; 632hh8sAo. i lead bu calls; turn check check and i c/c river he shows 44...
These kind of spots happen quite often and despite the live cliché ppl do fold pairs if you give them a reason + board runout.

Onto the interesting spots.
33 i overlimp MPish 5 other players overcall.
3 :spade:4 :heart:9 :spade: 7 :heart:T
i pot gets one call from a supa nitty "reg".
turn i bet 3/4 he calls again.
River i check he doesnt even think for a sec and cback 97. FML.

i remember this guy from september/october hes like a super nit river. so if i want to target 9x JT Txss stuff i need to bet sth like 1/4th pot. otherwise he folds. dont think he folds 2p but theres not that many that call twice.
there some spade draws that bust and 2p should be betting. so i still like the line (who cback 2p ffs?) had he made it really big id have just called.

KTo
Btn 5x. hes been playing sth like 50 10 over the night but a lil bit more active since we were HU then 3handed. 5x is standard raise lol.
I call.
Q :diamond:T :spade:9  5 :spade: 4 :spade:
flop gets checked through.
turn i c/c
river he bets half pot. I have no spade.
i tank and ask what he wants me to do he says "whatever just dont raise" so i oblige myself and make it 50-15. he tanks 1min and call AsQ.

Hes been betting pairs so far so thought checking turn was better. otr he deffo can have spades and seen it cback top2 in a limped pot. maybe he can cback KJ flop too so i dont want to make it too big since his range is not that capped. bc of that + not even Ts i think idrather fold now but w/e. c/r turn is an option too.

Theres a big tournament going on in one of the other casinos in the toon - Genting. Heard theres good cash game action so im prolly gonna go tomorrow night.

sleep tight.

1. Try to anticipate this a second or so before it happens. Take a deep breath, and relax. Try to accept whatever happens. If a heart will bring the flush and beat you on the river from the turn AI. Then all yuo need to do is prepare for that. When you feel you start to tense up, both physically and mentally, relax and accept. This is the best way i can describe the feeling. you take responsibility for your thoughts and emotions. It's no pokers fault, we can only accept and let go of our desire to win. Is it easy to do. No. Practice! :)

2. Try to write out and be specific on what spots these are. And also try to recognized any tendencies of this kind of auto piloting, what are the earliest signs you can see. Use the post session writing to look for these.

3. When a spot you know where you often deviate from this optimal mindset and approach then try talking the situation out loud. This slows everything down and you are much more methodical and analytical.

4. Try to bring that creativity and curiosity into your post session analysis. Bring awareness and consciousness into the hands or situation where you weren't able to in the session. Even though it's after you will be able to see what decision the "optimal" you would come to. You also give yourself a chance to spot things that you might have overlooked. Take the role of the coach!

When it comes to mindfulness do the things that work for you. The running and that you came up with it yourself is awesome. Since you like running we can also incorporate regular mindfulness into it but with a twist. The last kilometer you run really try to push yourself so that your lungs are bleeding. Then you try mindfulness, see how fast you can bring your pulse down. Time your heartbeat for the first minute to have a baseline. Then try to calm yourself and see how well you can do it for five minutes. I do this often after my kettle bell workouts. Give it a try and el me what you think. :)

Cheers!

Thanks for all the insight Eric.
Yeh id rather try your running-mindfulness method because focusing on my breath/moving legs for 45minutes is like completely impossible at the moment.

Hey Erik
Not sure to understand the exercise actually.
Just pushed myself for the last minute of the run, took my pulsation, then ...?
Should i walk home trying to bring the pulse down? should i sit and do a std meditation session of 5min?

Cheers
