Sadly not me. I'm always jbpatzer.

Yesterday I decided I wanted to try to play a few hands of NL50 to get my mojo back. I think it has returned.

I can now go back to NL100, although if I could sustain that winrate at NL50 (obv not likely), I could just stay there and make a handy few $$$. :f_cool:

A couple of fun hands from last night.

1) I have gotten into the habit of sitting out and back in again once my stack goes past 200bb, but last night I decided to grow a pair. I was pretty happy with my bet sizing here, which has been a problem in the past, although I could perhaps have made it a bit more on the turn. _cool:

Villain appeared to be a tight reg, so try to guess what he's stacking off with here, 268bb deep.

Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (6 handed) - Full Tilt Converter Tool from http://www.flopturnriver.com

BB ($57.55)
UTG ($7.90)
MP ($54)
jbpatzer (CO) ($147.85)
Button ($21.10)
SB ($134.80)

Preflop: jbpatzer is CO with 10:spade:, 10:heart:
2 folds, jbpatzer bets $1.25, 1 fold, SB raises to $5, 1 fold, jbpatzer calls $3.75

Flop: ($10.50) A♣, 10:club:, 6♦ (2 players)
SB bets $7.50, jbpatzer raises to $20.25, SB calls $12.75

Turn: ($51) 5♦ (2 players)
SB checks, jbpatzer bets $27.75, SB calls $27.75

River: ($106.50) 3♠ (2 players)
SB checks, jbpatzer bets $94.85 (All-In), SB calls $81.80 (All-In)

Total pot: $270.10 | Rake: $3

Spoiler

SB had K♥, K♦ (one pair, Kings).
jbpatzer had 10:spade:, 10:heart: (three of a kind, tens).
Outcome: jbpatzer won $267.10

Well played sir! :f_eek:

2) I appreciate that this is an unbalanced and silly way to play AA, but Villain is obviously a huge fish and I'd prefer to let him catch up a bit before I put my $$$ in. The flop is not entirely what I was hoping for. On the river I'm bet/folding to try to get called by K  or Q  . Next time I think I'll just 3bet and save myself the trouble of faffing about.

Spoiler

jbpatzer had A♥, A♦ (flush, Ace high).
CO had J♥, K♥ (straight flush, Jack high).
Outcome: CO won $18.50

Well, I did get called by K  . Perhaps Villain needs to brush up his hand reading skills, starting with his own hand. :f_eek:

I may play some MTTs again tonight, but mrsjb has just gone out with number one son and my daughter to see her mother, leaving me and number two son at home, so it depends on whether she gets back before 8pm. A day with number two son would be great, but I have foolishly promised to cycle to the next village with him. Fml. Me and bikes really don't get along, so I'm expecting a sore arse and sore legs by this evening. Maybe if I run up and down the stairs often enough I can pull a muscle and get out of it. :f_confused:

Saved by the snow! Shame I'd already pulled that muscle. :f_mad:

I was just looking for something to watch while I was doing the ironing, and I discovered that the best live DVD by the best band on the planet is freely available on Youtube. That can't be right can it? Speaking as an owner of the DVD, I feel I'm in a good position to get all indignant and hot under the collar about it. However, in the interests of prosthelytization (Fuck off. It's a word, whatever online dictionaries might tell you), here it is.

Nice tunes JB and nice showers! :f_eek:
The word is I will take your word for the word by the way, the spelling of which appears to be arbitrary so I go with the prof, obviously.

Here's a thing. I just checked my Facebook, and one of my friends has posted a photo of my old cricket club back in the early 1980s, and tagged me in it. God knows why it's in black and white.

The only problem is, I'm not actually in it! I really should see my old friends more often. They've forgotten what I look like! :f_cry:

I thought for sure you were the impossibly skinny one 3rd in on the left of the photo.

It brought tears to my eyes.
:f_cry: <== see?

On the weather:
"possibility of showers" =/= "probability of showers"
and implies "possibility of anything else, come to mention it"

Peace,

That's actually my mate Al whose wife posted the photo. He's not so impossibly skinny now.

I was going to play some slow 180 man MTTs tonight, but mrsjb didn't get back until about 8pm, and I had to coax my daughter into deciding that sleeping was a better option than demanding food and complaining about god knows what. However, I thought 'What about those turbo 180 mans?', so, I fired up six of those a couple of hours ago. Tbh, I don't much like them. I only played the $2.50s, just to see what they were like, but you get short really quickly, and it's just a big ICMfest. I'm not sure I'm that keen on playing them regularly. Having said that, I did manage 2nd in one for a $70 profit on the night, after ending up HU against a Supernova (Why is a Supernova playing $2.50 180 man turbos?) and losing A4s<QJ in the final hand.

Tomorrow I have the joyous prospect of an all day meeting on what needs to go into a new Curriculum Management IT system. The only good thing about these pointless all day snoozes is that nobody can come into my office and say 'Prof JB, I can't do this completely fucking obvious trivial thing. Can you stop trying to do that hard problem and baby me through it at a speed fit for the lowest of dullards?' to which I have usually to reply, 'Ofc I can. It's not your fault you're a fuckwit. Let me explain it to you, as if to a retarded seven year old.' or words to that effect. :f_mad:

And my mouse ran out of batteries half way through my session. :(

On the bright side, I just realized that I can teach words to my spellchecker, which now recognizes that 'fuckwit' has a well-deserved place in the English language.

I think he means Roo. I also think he's still probably after my money. I may let him try to win it one day.

You youngsters are in such a hurry. All in good time.

I fancied MTTs tonight, but I didn't have four hours to play, so I tried eight $8 turbo 180 mans. True to the golden rule of moving up a limit, I managed to bust out of all eight without cashing. I was therefore forced to play some Zoom NL50, which I haven't played for ages, to try to win back my buy ins, which I very nearly managed.

That's probably my last session for a while, as we're off to the Isle of Mull on Friday for a week barricaded in a cottage trying to stave off the cold with my entire lovely family. Should be interesting.
