I dont know what it is like to grind from starting capital. I was grinding my starting capital on Titan Poker then i entered the $5000 monthly freeroll and won $450. ♠_biggrin:

I was so rich over night I didnt know what to do with the money or which limit and variant to play because i was so new to poker. I switch from SNG to CG, CG to SNG ( more than 5 times)

Thanks for coming to my blog! Yeah my timezone is even worse for playing against europeans. I'm -4 hours your time so I'm almost exactly 12 hours off! Its a shame that IPoker doesn't have the volume. I was planning on moving my roll around to the different rooms there to clear first deposit bonuses once I was playing NL50. Guess this doesn't look possible.

Today was an interesting day. My poker buddy was playing tournaments and when he was 4 tables left in a tournament he asked me if I wanted to sweat him and we'd talk about decisions mid game. I dont know if I stated it in this blog but I've been a winner over a few thousand tournaments online. I would play them more but I just dont usually have the time and now that I have this blog started I do not want the distraction. Never the less I still have the knowledge to help.

So anyways he is sitting at 200k chips with 36 players left. Within 85 minutes of me sitting down to help him we had built his stack up to 1.2 million and going into the final table. After running card dead and having all of the steal attempts shoved over we where still sitting at 1.2m 4 handed. With the shortest stack to our right we woke up with AQo in the bb and the sb pushed 700k. We called to see TT and lost the flip. At this point blinds where big, 40k/80k and the c all was very standard. A few hands later we shoved 99 UTG and lost to A8o (I believe but dont remember exactly). It was a decent $350 cash for a $2.75 tournament. What I didn't know then that I know now was that my buddy secretly shipped me $50 for the help. Usually we have a deal where we split 20% of winnings in tournaments we both play but since I didn't play any this was a very nice gesture.

Anyways onto todays sessions. I played far from optimally and it makes me very happy that I am playing with a conservative bankroll. It also makes me happy that I'm playing NL2 where the spew doesn't hurt bad (at all maybe?). I have a major leak in my game and that is calling river bets after a bad card lands that most likely hits villians range. I always think "they cant have it EVERY time" and like clockwork they have it every time. This leak cost me at least 5 buy ins today and is MAJOR. It must be worked on.

Heres the day...

6.3k hands in a day for me is fantastic. Plus 10 bi is also great, although it should have been much much more. I dont like winning 10 bi but feeling like I didn't deserve it because of my poor play. I did however run under EV so that tends to say that my crappy play actually deserves better than 10bi but the satisfaction just isn't there.

With this win I'm now almost halfway through the 50 bi I told myself I needed to win at NL2 to move up. This is where the $50 my friend shipped me comes in. With it I am only 4 bi away from 30 bi for NL5. Unfortunately if I stick to the actual challenge rules I set for myself this cannot be used. No one who starts playing poker with the $50 from PS is going to have a winfall like this, and therefore I will not use it. What I may do is use it as a buffer when and if I ever am "supposed" to move down in limits when I dont feel I specifically have to at that point. Anyways I've put enough time into poker and related poker activities today, I'm going to bed. I will leave you with some fun hands from the day.

I managed to lose 9.5 bi in 2k hands. Three reasons for this. My critical mass of tables is 12. Over that and I'm screwed. Second, I played very poorly. Third I ran into a lot of the top of ranges. I shoved QQ 350bb deep pre into a guy who was snap calling everything from 22, A2s. He had an 85% VPIP. He called with AA.

I've played 14k hands this month already, but I feel like I am trying to rush the hand count a little bit. I dont feel like I'm able to ever play my A game since my first session. Everytime I sit down I think I'm going to find my A game but within 100 hands its gone. I dont know the solution for this. Its been an issue that has been haunting me since I first started playing online poker.

I've also noticed for myself that after some hands (about 300) I lose my concentration and I'm not playing my A game. But lately I started playing lots of small sessions, about 40 mins each, during the day and it helped me a lot. You could try this

I unfortunately do not have lots of time through the day to play. I basically have a 3 hour window at most during each day to play, so taking breaks every 40 minutes would basically not allow me to play more than 1-2 sessions.

I feel something towards this challenge of mine, but I'm not exactly sure what it is. Either I dont believe in myself, or I dont believe the challenge is valueable enough for me in my point of life where $2 means nothing when i own a house 125,000 times 1 buy in. I'm not sure.... Something definately feels off in my soul though.

This might also be causing my lack of focus I feel at the tables. I know I can easily beat these games but what is that worth to me? I'm not sure at the moment. Food for thought I guess.

I live in Vancouver Canada.

I've had my account locked out for the last few days. Ps gave me no explanation other than to say it was because I had failed to log in too many times. Yet the reason I kept failing to log in was because I was locked out! Never the less it is fixed now.

My starting roll is up to $129. What I am not pleased to tell you is that bankroll management may or may not have been used...

What happened was I watched an amazing video by Raskelnikov on simple heads up play. I have always been a believer in the possibilities of playing solid but exploitable poker knowing that your opponents at smaller stakes will not adapt. Of course I only have the bankroll or husngs but I thought the strat would work very well in the early stages and I have faith in my later stage abilities already.

What proceeded was me destroying the $7 turbos for almost 10 bi in 15 games. And to make things even better, my losses where not because I played poorly, but because of sick beats. At one point I even got 1 outtered! I love the feeling of playing so well.

I'm currently at work and just got access to my account again. I have some hands saved at home that I am going to post.

Oh, Canada. I want to go there someday.

How many tables your playing with your $129 BR and how is NL2 on pokerstars for you?

Was playing 12. Nl2 is going non existant ATM. The total profits was $25 dollars over 12k hands.

Like I said in a previous post. I had moved to HUSNGs for a while. I didn't plan it, it just so happened I watched the Raskolnikov vid and thought, "hmm I think I can destroy HUSNGs with that strat.

Backstory is I've beat the $7 level of turbo HUSNGs previously. I've actually beat the $15s too, but suffered at the $30s. When I was beating these levels I was not dominating, I was just grinding out small profits by being a small bit above average. I would tilt, I would make dumb bluffs on wet boards, I would rematch players who I felt I was better than but would play terrible against just because I was mad I lost the previous game.

In fact I have always had the subconcious reaction to losing with aggression. Throughout my whole life when I was faced with losing in sports, school, whatever I would end up in fights or yelling matches. Being the more aggressive person in these situations works well, expecially when its stupid aggression when the other person knows he cant bring it to that level. But it sure doesn't work in poker. Its easily combatable. All you have to do is sit back and wait for a real hand, then call 3 streets for value. I cant reach across the table and punch you in the face. It doesn't work that way.

So with all that to my knowledge, I started playing the $7 turbos.

Well it does now! 28 BI for turbo husngs is good at low limits. I honestly think the style I am playoff is super low varience as well. Heck, it's not often you win 10 straight husngs and run UNDER EV in that stretch. The only thing I am more proud of in that graph than the profit line is the ev line. Winning such a high percentage and running under ev is a massive accomplishment even in such a tiny sample.

Also I only 1 table so this does not bode well for high volume.

NL2 is beatable and BORING! I was spending a ton of time playing it and making pennies. This was costing me time with friends, family, and other hobbies.

As for HUSnGs, yeah 28 BI is on the smaller side and you may be in before the huge downswing or busto but on the other hand I've played better than I have ever played before in these games. And with the videos availible to me that I actually look forward to watching(!) I think I can make a run at this.

Also, it may have not been the original plan as to how to build the starting br but I am indeed still building the starting $50 and havent added to it.

So I'm going to implement something new into my financial life and I am going to extend that into my poker life as well.

From here on out I will be taking 10% of all winnings at the end of each week and donating it to a charity. I have a few reasons for this. One of them is that I feel that I have been blessed to live where I do with the rights that I have and I believe just having the ability to give is a blessing. Secondly learning about how to devalue money and base decisions on ev has in fact over the past few years made me not value money as I should. It's no longer what I lost but how many buy ins or big blinds I lost. Sometimes you forget that $7 can buy food for someone in Rwanda for a month. The third reason is a bit selfish but maybe that's a good thing? I have read many times that giving fulfills something in your soul that nothing else can replace. This drives you to seek out this feeling which in turn makes you help more people in need. I'd like to get to that point. If I give 10% unquestionably I can start to concentrate in making money for others, which in turn makes me money.

There is a lot more to be talked about on this subject but at the moment I would like to leave it where it is now. I haven't decided where or how I will donate the money. I thought I was going to use insta debit but it appears they charge $1 per transfer. If I'm only transferring a few bucks a week this is not cost effective. Also the charity will be a non profit recognized by the Canadian government as if it is not I must then have to jump through hoops with them.
