Hey,

how about learning speed reading :)?

Or trying out polyphasic sleep?

That should enable you to have more time for socializing and other things. Also, what does your usual day look like? Do you spend any time doing nothing useful/fb/9gag/watching TV, etc.? You could try to really minimize these times as well by doing some other things that you want to do.

I refer at first to the 2ndpoint:

Haha, I have already tried out several time polyphasic sleep and the stage since everyman 3 is too much for me and does not work for me.
At max I could have done the soft siesta-plan:
6h coresleep and one 20min nap/day - this is not polyphasic, but biphasic
But even this shedule caused some problems cause you do not always fall asleep isntantly - so when I happened to have a few days only like 5,x h coresleep, then I can say 100% that my efficieny has not decreased a bit, but significatly.

Nowadays I also read in bed (room is already dark) a little at my kindle (it has a light) until I fell tired - so I would need to always set the 6h-alarm after I start to feel very tired from reading and could sleep - what then happened is contraproductive -> cause the action of setting the alarm would already awake me a bit-> now I will not fall asleep so quick....

the siesta-plan would save me bout 1.15h compared to my current sleepshedule (I lie in my bed bout 7-7.30h before my alarm will ring - > read a bit -> sleep + only when needed, I take a 20 min nap, when I have my dayly down-phase...).
So I dunno if it is worth - mbi will try it again, but dunno bout my concerns which I have written down.

ok,
again back on real polyphasic:
This I would never try again and I would tbh not suggest it to anybody who has a ob where he has to use a lot his cognitive functions (such as we pokerpalyers)
-> the reason is simple:
Afer I made a ton o researches, I have found that there are absolutely no studies which show that polyphasic sleep is longterm healthy.
In fact many experts believe that polyphasic sleepers aren`t cognitive as sharp as they would be with mono-or biphasic sleep, even when they feel otherwise (after the long adaption-time).

@Speed-reading:
Yeah, thought about i and likely it would make sense once i have started to read now more and more - 2 concerns:

1.) this takes also time to learn - I have almost no free gaps I could learn this tbh, even though it could save me mb longterm time - this is not sound, but it is the situation

2.) still, when I would know it i worth, then I would find somehow time, but:
many ppl think thatdue to speed-reading you get less information out of what you have read, than by normal reading -> this is not acceptable to me and hence speedreading could be ust a modern, hyped trap, but Idk a lot bout it, I have to admitt.

@your questions:
- I have stopped watching TV completely since bout 3 months - it already has saved me a ton of time + TV is any stupid human-programming (the interesting and useful stuff, you can also find on the web - no need for TV anymore, imo- even though I always loved sitcoms, which I miss tbh - but finally I can also live without them^^)

- One thing i waste time pretty often is when my alarm is ringing.
Often I have probs to get quickly fully awake, what leads me to snooze for another ~30 minutes, which sucks.
I have tried a lot of different stuff about it:
Have out my alarm away from my bed, cold water into my face in the morning, caffeine,...
It improved the situation, but still the snoozing-thing happens imo too often.

New idea: will try to force myself after my alarm has rang into an at least sittin postion and then start some stretching - we will se how this will work out^^

- I do hardly no FB or anything ...

- imo less useless browsing - but mbIm wrong and I could brwose less.

Hey ho !

I see that you've done quite a bit of research on sleep so far :).

How about trying this kind of sleep?

Speed reading takes 30min-1hr a day to learn. Even by investing 30min of your time in it daily for ~6 weeks you could have great results.

People who think that speed reading decreases comprehension usually haven't tried speed reading and are just sceptical. The whole idea of speed reading is to read faster with the same comprehension. So you don't read everything with the same speed, you modify the speed according to the material you're reading and the amount of comprehension you desire. Actually, by training comprehension using comprehension drills, your comprehension and retention of information will be way higher than the average reader's ;).

So if you can find the time for it, I would really recommend you to give it a shot :).

For the alarm problems, read this article :).

And for useless browsing, you can limit it using a browser add-on such as stayfocusd (chrome) or leechblock (firefox).

I hope this helps,

-Primož

Have already heard bout it - idea is going to sleep when youre rly sleepy and wake upalways at the same time, right? Thing is that this is great for ppl who have an issue falling asleep, but it is not a wy to sleep which saves you rly time, right?

yeah, but I rly do not wanna read 1 whole book bout speed readind or thousands articles - when there is a simple guidleine with 10-20 shortwritten points, then ok, cool
- for studying speedreading like a subject - sry, to say this - but Im just too busy for that.

here and there it helps a lot - thx a lot, rly appreciate all the anwsers, man:)

edit:
the article bout the alarm-prob is rly great - recommend it to anybody who also has issues getting out of the bed when the alarm is ringing.
thx for this link, a lot - will start to practice it since tomorrow and hope I will fix/improve my issue^^

edit 2:
the leechblock-feature does cause probs for me - wanted to blog twoplustwo for
a.) certain timeframes
b.) after I have spent x time at 2+2 during the allowed timeframes

But it seems that ow during the allowed timeframes I only can browse at 2+2 and nowhere else....
So had to deactivate the feature again cause even could not check my mails - any ideas?

Hey again IronPumper,

well, sleeping that way can save you time as you'll generally sleep for less than 8h/night that way :).

I'm glad that you've found the alarm article useful! Is it working for you so far?

I don't have leechblock installed as I don't use firefox, but it seems that the issue is that you've added 2+2 to the allowed sites list, instead of blocked sites?

So basically you should do the opposite - allow all other sites but put 2+2 on the blocked sites list for certain intervals (you might've mistaken "allowed" and "not allowed" intervals).

Hey atton64, I've researched what you mentioned and came up with this - is it close enough?

You can also ask Erik, I think he has some software for frequent alerts ;).

Hey Schnitzel ,

Just read the article you gave me earlier. And i will give it a go!

The article says i should 'practice' during the day. How much will it delay my progress if i don't do this? And only 'train' when actually having to get up

hey,

the whole point of the article is practicing when you're awake ;).

so i would recommend you to do it whenever you fail to wake up with the alarm.

so for example each day you fail to wake up immediately, you can do a couple of drills (maybe 3).

sry,. man - have overlooked this post - but can this rly be?
When you have to allow all site you wanna browse once, then actually with this tool a non-annoying browsing is not possible...
Guess will not use this tool, but make something different:

Will install today VM-ware.
My plan is to grind/skpye at my main system and then to browse (after work, if i wanna to check something out) at my VM-ware....
The only site which i would allow at my mainsystem would be then weaktight.com cause here I often convert hands before postiong them into skype-groups - what you think bout this idea...?

great idea - I would have one question
-> such an exercise at daytime would look like setting alarm for 3-5 min and then stand up with the mentioned steps in the article (deeb breath -> stretching - > stand up).
I wonder if it does not matter what we do during those 3-5 min where were lying in in bed?
Cause if not, then I would like to combine this with a short meditation or visulisation-exercise...

you think that`s all right?

What's the top 10 of the books that helped you the most, or the ones that you use the most when coaching people here?

@IronPumper: I think that the VM-ware is a good idea (test it if it works for you), and the meditation while laying in bed seems like something you can try as well. If it works, keep doing it; If it doesn't, change it :).

@Swish29:

Books that helped me the most (in no particular order)

-7 habits of highly effective people
-Getting things done
-How to win friends and influence people
-The Millionaire Fastlane
-I will teach you to be rich
-A Million bucks by 30
-Eat that frog
-Presenting to win & The perfect pitch
-Convict conditioning
-The power of full engagement
-Never eat alone
-Breakthrough rapid reading
-The power of now

Thank you very much. I already have 2 of them, I will buy a few (starting with Breakthrough rapid reading ofc) and get a coaching package from you after. I have one more question, what book(s) did you read about what food to eat?

Hey again,

I have personally got my knowledge by talking about many nutritionists and food specialists, as well as reading a lot of studies, articles and fitness related forums. I also tested many many different things to see how they worked for me, then developed a nutrition plan that works best for my personal needs.

As for books, I hear that the paleo solution is a good book which will introduce you to the basics of nutrition. I think that paleo diet works great as a basis, but of course it's best if you test out many different things and see for yourself how they work on your body :).
