My buddy showed me this hand just now. BB is a reg. If anyone can provide a calculation showing how disgustingly bad BB's play is (i.e how much $ loss is thereby entailed), we'd be grateful.

$100, 6mx, bubble:

Poker Stars $93.25+$6.75 No Limit Hold'em Tournament - t75/t150 Blinds - 3 players - View hand 2171024
DeucesCracked Poker Videos Hand History Converter

Hero (SB): t5290 35.27 BBs
BB: t3205 21.37 BBs
BTN: t505 3.37 BBs

Seat 6: BTN (505 in chips) is sitting out

Pre Flop: (t225) My Friend is SB with A  J :club:
1 fold, My Friend raises to t375, BB raises to t750, My Friend raises to t5290 all in, BB calls t2455 all in

Flop: (t6410) 6 :club: A :diamond: A :club: (2 players - 2 are all in)

Turn: (t6410) 9 :club: (2 players - 2 are all in)

River: (t6410) K  (2 players - 2 are all in)

Final Pot: t6410
My Friend shows A  J :club: (three of a kind, Aces)
BB shows A :spade: 7  (three of a kind, Aces - lower kicker)
My Friend wins t6410

I did a quick mental calculation of how much of his equity he spewed to the button, and came up with an answer of 'shitloads'.......roughly.

Hahahaha...

It can be from -4,5% diff to about -20% diff
You can calculate it like you switch SB and BB, make SB raise 750, make BB shove and you can see how bad this A7o call can be depending on the BB shoving range (obv always bad, but... )

Also could have done without 3am start yesterday with headache, hacking cough and minimal sleep only to discover a 4 hour flight delay at the airport. :(

When I got back from my ski trip, I decided to write Austrian Airlines a rude letter about the horrid delay at Innsbruck Apt. Being British, I was born with the ability to complain (we are handed proforma complaints letters along with nappies on leaving the hospital).

After about a month, they wrote back:

Dear Mr. [ ],

first of all we would like to thank you for employing the services of Austrian Airlines.

In reference to your e-mail [it was actually a rude letter; people just delete emails these days] regarding your experiences with Austrian Airlines due to your delayed flight please accept our sincere apologies for this incident and for all inconvenience this has caused you.

We understand how disruptive flight delays, cancellations and misconnections can be to our passengers' travel plans. At Austrian Airlines Group, we do our utmost to adhere to published schedules in effect on the date of travel and prevent flight irregularities from occurring. However, on occasion, flight delays and cancellations are unavoidable due to circumstances beyond control, such as weather or safety-related precautions that must be taken. In your case it was due to technical reason but it would go too far to describe a technical problem.

We regret to hear that the service at the airport was not satisfactory that day. As we are aware of the fact that a professional service is extremely important to our customers, please be assured that the Station Management has already been notified of the lack of service you have highlighted. Our Station Manager will review your complaint to ensure that our staff conduct themselves in a professional manner and are sensitive to customer perception.

On behalf of our customer relations department we will reimburse any occurred direct costs if any occurred.

According to our General Conditions of Carriage we cannot accept liability for consequential costs of flight irregularities but we will offer the compensation of €250.- according EC-Regulation 261/04. Please send your bank details with name of the bank, IBAn and BIC/SWIFT. Thank you. [No, no; thank YOU]

We kindly ask for your understanding that we cannot offer any further payment. [No worries]

In closing may we reiterate our sincere apologies for these most unfortunate incidents. We do hope that despite the disappointment you have expressed, we may have the pleasure of regaining your confidence in Austrian Airlines. [Absolutely. Nicely handled, if you ask me]

Best regards

The money turned up in my a/c a few days ago. So I bought one of these with it:

Is there any time limit that nullifies a delay in applying for compensation? Had a 5 hour delay in Malaga last August and wouldn't mind the extra rakeback :P

The ICM code I use reports that the caller's risk-premium here is 30.0%, meaning he can call only with 88+ if Tim64's friend is shoving any two cards, and only with QQ+ against a range as loose as the top 35%. The call with A7o costs him $29 in equity against a 100% range, and typically more like between 55 and 84 dollars. A call with AKs would typically cost him between $5 and $13.

Well BU must have thought "Awesome play!" :)

Btw would you guys be happily 4bet shoving here versus competent reg with our AJ?

Am happily atc 4bet. I would need very very strong read that his 3bettin range is only the inducing one 99/TT+.

Should have added that by watching the big blind call, the short stack on the button typically gains between $81 and $96 in equity ;)

Thanks for all the responses. As are thought it's a pretty horrendous play. I don't think any amount of dynamic can justify this.

I think Milan is right concerning our line vs strong regs.

I would actually fold a ton in BB shoes. So minraising ATC would definitely be good versus me (at least if not spewing lot postflop). Strong broadway hands I would flat and induce with TT+ or JJ+. I can have 3bet-fold range, but it is small. 3bet-fold just makes little sense with this stack setup. Also we need to flat relatively tight as SB can give lot of ICM pressure postflop.

Shoving 21BB to take down pot of 3.5bb is kind of meh also. Makes little difference stack setup wise when we get fold, but has high risk when called. Especially as SB is not that risk averse.

hehe, well...the midstack is always in trouble right? :) If I were the midstack here, am tight like my daughters socks...am even not very comfortable with flating preflop against strong reg :/ He can do soo many lol stuff postflop, he can make me fold everything basically So yeah as a midstack, my 3b range here should be only the one inducing, dunno if I stick to it ingame but I should, it s totally unworthy to resteal here...let him steal from me all the time, it s just how this situation is. Good thing is that as a midstack we would have short on the left here so big stack cant walk him and mess with us even more :f_cool:

Yeah it's not great to flat either, but then again if we assume SB is raising ATC and tends to double/triple barrel postflop his range on turn and river will just be so absurdly wide that bluff catching even in this spot becomes reasonable.
