pretty much give up if u dont have much equity.

lowboards are seldom and dont hit utg ranges well. not much we can do on them.

I never see good player talking about preflop defend range yet. (call/3bet/5bet)
Would you explain this topic?

For example, getdomcom released preflop opening chart on his blog.
New challenge - From 500 to 10k
(don't know how to link to exact post)

If you're playing with him on the same table, what is your preflop defend range vs him?
Asumption:
1. You know his range but in percentage, not exact range.
2. You think both of you equally competent players postflop.
3. no rake (is it important?)

Edit: This question open for everyone to answer, not for pleno only.

This video (your last coaching) at 54:30, you overbet after it goes x/x OTF.
Bottom table, 23s hand, you turn a FD and villain is clearly very weak, but if you bet less he may call with obv the better hand.

http://www.twitch.tv//pokerstrategy_english/b/380136017?utm_campaign=archive_embed_click&utm_source=www.pokerstrategy.com

Is this overbet standard in this situation? Do you only do it against fish and that stack size? I think I understand why you are doing it, would you also do it against a good player? A good player will also understand there is almost nothing you can represent there and adjust.

I often find myself in this situation with the mediocre player IP and I bet 60-80% of the pot, he calls and OTR i'm not sure if I can get him off his 2nd pair or whatever.

Can you explain a little this bet? Thanks mate

Enjoy and feedback? :)

I really enjoyed this and the other 'playing from positions' videos I could see. Is it ok if I hassle you on skype for the documents used in these?

would you mind uploading the range charts instead so it's open to all readers?

hey pleno!

im happy ive found this thread couple of days ago, i think its super nice from you to give all this advice for free :f_biggrin:

im playing poker for about 5 years now...always been fish hunting and doing ok, but this year i decided to play speed (ipoker) nl100. so now i mostly play regs, and the game is much tougher compared to only fish hunting. im running brake even now on 100k sample, and im not to happy about that :f_frown: ...i want to get better

anyway...ive just played this hand, and im not shure what line would be better

dont know how to convert hand, so im just going to write it

speed nl100 6max, effective stack: 110bb
UTG opens 3$, i call from CO with ATs

flop: (7.5) 9J8r
UTG bets 5.5, i call

turn: (18.5) 9J8 6r
UTG bets 14, i raise to 30, utg calls 16

river: (79) 9J8 64
UTG checks, i bet 59, UTG raise to 70, i fold

villain is a reg with not much history
i chose to raise turn cause that usually looks super strong (i rep sets, straight, and maybe T?), so i might get him to fold 1 pair type hands or maybe even some overpairs? however, when he calls and checks the river im not sure if i can bluff profitably. i guess his river x range might be: some TP, overpairs, and mostly hands i try to rep?

also my other option was to call turn and then maybe bluff the river if he checks, but i think raising turn is a better option.

also i could raise flop...not shure how is that compared to other 2 option...

1.what are your thoughts and advice on this hand?
2.was my river bluff a spew?
3.why would he want to call my turn rase and than x the river? was he unsure of his hand, and didnt know what to do and play passively? or did he want to induce me to contiue bluffing?
4.if that is the case (he had set+ and want to induce me) is that a good line from him? (my image was 29/25/4 12%3bet). i think he is loosing value by checking.
5.do you think that calling last 10$ would justify the fact that i can learn something from him by seeing his hand?

i hope thats not to much for 1st post, and i look forward to hear your answers, tnx!

Hey buddy,

I think that its good that you took an aggresive line with this hand, calling the turn wouldn't be optimal. I like raising the flop for most fold equity though, we represent enormous strength and we don't really have any implied odds, ie if a queen comes, even if he has a set our most likely hand is going to be 10x that we JUST called flop with, so I'd like to raise flop here and put enormous pressure on his range.

When he calls the turn I think he just always calls down when the board texture doesn't change, he will also think that you would raise your strong hands on the flop if you wanted to raise instead of letting him barrel.

He is a lot more liekly to b/call KK ott than otf, he will probably have a lot of top pair+ daw -> sets and straights, remember he does have a lot of combos of them and we should think about his turn bet.

When you call flop and there is a blank turn he always ALWAYS has a good hand when he barrels as he doesn't expect you to fold, so because he has a super strong range (utg+doubl barrel on j98) i think we should just go ahead and fold.

Hi,

Generally, I have dark for aggressive and green for passive :)

After watching all your coachings today, I decided to try and do the same things - think about ranges, be aggressive, when opponent looks weak - works like a miracle, graph below!

26,7bb/100 over 5,2k hands, and the thing is, I got coolered left, right and center for the last 1.5k hands, so it's not just a rungood.

SHIP IT!

Play hand

$0.02/$0.04 No-Limit Hold'em (6 handed)

Known players:
[tg]BU$0.70:///////;SB (Hero)$7.81:///////;BB$5.15:///////;MP2$3.66:///////;MP3$1.64:///////;CO$4.40:///////;[/tg]

Preflop: Hero is SB with T:s, T:h.
MP2 folds, MP3 raises to $0.20, 2 folds, Hero calls $0.18, BB folds.

Flop: ($0.44) Q:c, 3:d, 7:c (2 players)
Hero checks, MP3 bets $0.28, Hero calls $0.28.

Turn: ($1) 9:d (2 players)
Hero checks, MP3 bets $0.76, Hero folds, MP3 gets uncalled bet back.

Final Pot: $1.

Hey,

Its a hard hand, but usually there are some simple answers.

First thing to look at

Where has he raised from? He raises from MP, so likely a strong range

Second thing

How much has he raised to is it smaller than usual (usually weaker) or larger than usual (usually strong)

We see he 5x here so we can assume he has a good hand, for that reason I would just call pre flop.

We then have to ask ourselves have we seen him 5x before and what did he have (this is why notes are so important!!!) its likely that he has and if so we should have a read, if I see that he is raising his whole range to 5x then I will exploit him by 3betting wider for value, and TT/JJ definitely goes into that bracket, if not then I will exploit him by playing tighter and just calling pre flop.

As played I would call the flop as we get a good price and he could give up, on the turn combined with what we know already (raised ep, raised 5x, bet flop, bet turn big) I would go ahead and make a heroish fold.

Ouch, so sick. Better make some regs broke to wash it away :f_biggrin:
