well my problem is that microgaming stores its hand history in a single file which pokertracker then imports completely every time i start it which is pretty damn slow and annoying when you have just as little as 5k or more hands.
My question is can I just delete handhistory.dat when i finish my session that was imported as I play so that next time there are no duplicates or this causes some sort of trouble?

Yeah u can safely delete gamehistory.dat before starting new session. It also speeds up game client startup time;)

We concur, provided that you delete he file from within PokerTracker 4 by clicking Play Poker, double click Microgaming (MPN), and then select Clear Databases Now, this will assure your hands are backed up in the Processed Files folder and the handhistory.dat file is safely removed.
PS: Microgaming is aware of the complaints about their handhistory.dat file format, they have been inquisitive about alternative solutions. Hopefully someday we will see a change.
