hey man have you posted this hand for evaluation? i dunno what reads you have other than he's a fish, but here's what i think in this hand.

preflop is fine, on the flop i expect him to donk his Qx hands, sometimes his Tx hands but also his sets and QT definitely. he can also donk draws so i agree with your raise, but i think i'd make it somewhere between $3.20 -$3.80. we raise because he won't fold his Qx or draws and maybe not even his Tx hands. however it's always gunna be a value raise/fold imo because he will never be 3betting light. and not only that, but you are also deep which makes it an easier raise/fold. if he decides to call flop we can bet most turns for value once more and most often take a free showdown IP. i think you overplayed it :(

Yea, I figured. Hand evaluation coach said the same

Oh well, I put almost 2000 hands today, biggest day so far. The session went well for the most part, until I lost 2 big pots. And then lost another 180bbs.

Worst thing is in both pot I could have avoided losing my stack. So it's not really just bad luck.

I'm starting to feel stressed now. I'm too results oriented. I'm too impatient. And I'm too egocentric. And I put myself into too many clueless spots often (Sometimes cos of bad luck, but many times because of my style of play too). And maybe, I can't play long sessions? Seems like eventually I run out of steam and lose some control. Like today.

I need to write out a plan for the rest of the month, if this goes on I can't really progress in the long run. I need to study more, then implement it in my game. I'm really clueless in too many spots, thus my results are so swingy. And also I'm underestimating fish. I treat them like those idiotic maniacs at nl2. So I overplay hands when I shouldn't.

I need to take some time off first, then come back with a fresh mindset. And of course, put in more study time. Maybe join the beginner's course (since im such a newb )

Today was okay, up 1 BI, but should be more. I made another huge mistake:

Pacific, $0.05/$0.10 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 5 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

CO: $10 (100 bb)
BTN: $12.50 (125 bb)
Hero (SB): $14.94 (149.4 bb)
BB: $10 (100 bb)
MP: $10.74 (107.4 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 8 8
MP folds, CO raises to $0.40, BTN folds, Hero calls $0.35, BB folds

Flop: ($0.90) J 3 J (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets $0.67, Hero raises to $1.64, CO calls $0.97

Turn: ($4.18) 9 (2 players)
Hero bets $1.99, CO calls $1.99

River: ($8.16) T (2 players)
Hero bets $6.12, CO calls $5.97 and is all-in

Results:

Spoiler

$20.10 pot ($1.00 rake)
Final Board: J 3 J 9 T
CO showed K J and won $19.10 ($9.10 net)
Hero showed 8 8 and lost (-$10 net)

I didn't believe he had a J on flop, so I decided to c/r. I know I rep pretty much nothing but at micros he would fold if he had nothing. Plan was to c/f turn.

And then I went on tilt on the turn. Decided to believe he's floating me and hence I keep barreling. I'm playing on level 1 on flop, which was fine. On turn and river I shifted up to level 2 for no reason and killed myself. didn't follow my initial plan on flop to give up if he calls. 90bbs spewed just like that.

Edit: Breakeven for day. Courtesy of this:

This is fucking pissin me off.

Okay, so weird, today I played well in general, but fucking down 3BIs. Weird villains raising with backdoors and gutshots and hitting the river etc.

I'm sure today I played better than the last few days, but got worst result. Poker gods

I'm never getting paid for my monsters, fishes even fold two pair when i have straight. I'm starting to suspect there's not enough fishes on 888, and I can't beat the regs.

And of course, I haven got AA all in for 100bbs preflop this fucking month. Even when playing with tons of 'fishes' (high vpip)

Sigh, gotta just play through it I guess, as long as I keep playing well, my luck will come... or not?

My mindset was really good today, especially towards the end. I had a wrote a schedule today, followed it, was happy with it. Was playing better than past few days, just didn't have luck today.

Hopefully I go on a heater soooooooon

Thought my mindset was good, so took a shot at NL20 again. Started well.. then this:

Such a bad call with AK here, I need him to shove AQ for my call to be good. But its cold 4bet...

Graph from march till now:

I just need a fresh mindset, and some good fortune, then that graph will start climbing again... I hope.

seems like you know what your problem is you just need to work on acting on it. i find it's more of a confidence thing tbh. if you're more confident in yourself and your reads then you will make more solid decisions

Definitely.
I would suggest him to read some mindset books and watch some videos. They are quite helpful.

Today was quite sick. Finally a winning day. But ran good Flop set like 20+% (Mostly QQ+ though) Got KK like several times today (but not being too profitable with it as you will see).

And finally, after 2 weeks +, I finally got AA all in 100bb pre . It's at NL20 too!

There was a really weird hand though:

SB: $35.35 (176.8 bb)
BB: $27.58 (137.9 bb)

Flop: ($10.90) J 2 3 (2 players)
MP checks, Hero checks

Turn: ($10.90) 8 (2 players)
MP checks, Hero bets $5.45, MP folds

When I hit J I'm like YESSSS, he has AA/KK and will ship it. But he did a Johnny Chan against me. Either that or he is 4bet bluffing and basically giving up straight away.
What about my preflop flat? I'm calling 2.80 to win 24.70(assuming I stack off). Didn't know I had less than 12% implied pot odds. After the hand I realise the min 4bet could mean he's bluffing too... hmm. I was considering flatting the pfr pre, but realised he's quite loose too UTG, so 3bet for value.

And the KK hand:

Pacific, $0.10/$0.20 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

CO: $22.14 (110.7 bb)
BTN: $20 (100 bb)

BB: $20.16 (100.8 bb)
UTG: $24.13 (120.7 bb)
MP: $19.54 (97.7 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with K K
UTG folds, MP calls $0.20, CO folds, BTN raises to $0.60, Hero raises to $2.40, BB folds, MP raises to $8, BTN folds, Hero raises to $61.85 and is all-in, MP calls $11.54 and is all-in

Results:

Spoiler

$39.88 pot ($1.99 rake)
Final Board: 9 6 5 4 3
Hero showed K K and lost (-$19.54 net)
MP showed A A and won $37.89 ($18.35 net)

It was so similar to the AK hand yesterday. Except I had KK now. Still doesn't change a thing though. Because what else can he limp and 4bet a cold 3bet squeeze with? It only means AA/KK and since I block KK it's almost always AA. So yea, got myself pretty much owned again when I should have folded. I was thinking like a fish, only thinking about what I have but not what HE has. This is a good lesson for me (after losing over 2 BIs this way of course it is)

I think I have learned alot these few days. Going to play less and study more in the near future. Try to get rid of some of my biggest leaks (turn and river decisions). Will stick to NL20 as much as I can. If there's no traffic/fishes I play NL10. Hopefully it's time for some good run.

Today I decided to take a little break... Played push/fold poker at 888 instead. You're only allowed a max buy-in of 5bbs. Sat down at 3 NL20 tables.

Some of these guys are crazy. Just because it's 5 bbs some of them start shoving/calling shit like 63s.

Hero showed J J and won $4.36 ($2.07 net)

11.5 bbs JJ vs 63. I will take this deal anyday

and biggest hand of this mini session:

These tables are definitely +EV, just super high variance. In fact I lost my first 4 all ins but recovered from there.

Tomorrow I'm going back to real stuff though. I doubt I can handle a downswing in these games :f_biggrin:

Summarizes my day. BADDDDD.

Actually not so, I did lose a few BIs overall. Was down 6 BIs after the above hand, but rallied myself and recovered 2.9 BIs after that. So proud of myself I was actually making some good plays today, bluff catching more when it's more profitable rather than to just bet like crazy. It worked well, bluff catched quite a number of times correctly

Just gotta keep fighting

More bad luck... When will I finally say I'm lucky?

I was like 18th ish with 44 ppl left in $2000 freeroll. Winner gets $400. I finished 17th and 2 more times in top 50 before, quite sad. I thought today I was going to not play scared money and just make confident plays. I got AA and was so close to double up + top 5:

So sick, these people. Hopefully I win Sunday Million one day and forget all these little miseries

Optimism.

Playing some cash later, so that I can donate more money to fishes (through bad luck).

And I'm not hoping to run good anymore because when I do I always ran bad

Just want to play my A game _thumbsup:

Decided to try some NL5 zoom today since I have cleared all my bonuses at 888. 3 BIs after 400+ hands. Pretty nice considering I am break even for quite a while at 888 NL10. NL5 zoom seemed softer than NL10 888. People play fit or fold much more and overplay hands like crazy. Hopefully NL10 is the same. I'm considering switching my roll to stars so I can have another deposit bonus active

Continued playing zoom at stars today. Tried 2 tabling NL10 with 3.8BIs Ran bad, tilted abit and spewed more than 2BIs. Then 2 tabled NL5. Lost another BI. Now left with $8 at stars. Feel like playing some 180mans tomorrow with that $8. I really feel like spewing it away :f_biggrin:

And then after that I will plan where to play. Im thinking of withdrawing my entire 888 roll, then get a deposit bonus at stars/Ipoker.

Calculated my roll today: $781. Start of the month was about $900. Almost no hope of a winning April. Unless I ship a huge freeroll

I'm really disgusted right now. Not because I lost alot, but because of this:

Pacific, $0.05/$0.10 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

CO: $9.25 (92.5 bb)
BTN: $9.02 (90.2 bb)
SB: $10.58 (105.8 bb)
BB: $10 (100 bb)
UTG: $8.20 (82 bb)
Hero (MP): $16.99 (169.9 bb)

Preflop: Hero is MP with 2 2
UTG folds, Hero raises to $0.30, CO calls $0.30, BTN calls $0.30, SB calls $0.25, BB folds

Flop: ($1.30) 2 A 3 (4 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $0.95, CO calls $0.95, BTN calls $0.95, SB folds

Turn: ($4.15) 5 (3 players)
Hero bets $2.07, CO calls $2.07, BTN calls $2.07

River: ($10.36) 7 (3 players)
Hero checks, CO bets $4.44, BTN raises to $5.70 and is all-in, Hero folds, CO calls $1.26

Results:

Spoiler

$21.76 pot ($1.08 rake)
Final Board: 2 A 3 5 7
CO showed 7 A and won $20.68 ($11.66 net)
BTN showed 9 A and lost (-$9.02 net)
Hero mucked 2 2 and lost (-$3.32 net)

When I thought I'm beat, I'm wrong. When I thought I'm best, I'm wrong again obviously. The amount of $ i spewed this month, and the tons of value I missed, is because I couldn't judge my hand strength well vs fish. They are too unpredictable. Some overplay middle pair, some only call 2 huge barrels with at least a set. I have no idea what to do vs them. I used to think they always overplay hands, until my downswing earlier this month. I try to respect them more, but miss out on a ton of value. Hence I'm losing this month.

As long as I pay 0.5BI less and gain 0.5BI of value everyday, it's more than enough. Why does it seem so hard for me?

This hand really killed a bunch of motivation in me. It feels like I can't solve this problem. I've studied a number of articles this month, on 3betting, cbetting, bluff raising etc but they don't really help me in the above aspect. How do we play against bad players who are unpredictable?

Interesting hand. I have same problems on NL10 FR at 888. Post it on Hand evaluation forum.

I'm for x/c on turn.

I think it is not bad to give up on 3 handed dangerous boards if you don't have good reads.

Don't gamble with fishes. Make money value betting them.

Hey I am not an expert of Poker, but what I think you need to go down a blind and build up your confidence. I think you are an aggressive player, you just need to know when to change your gear. I would not suggest you moving to PStars/Ipoker, stay on 888 and fight on!

I think fold is fine there, call after bet and shove is much worse with bottom set on that board when fish will chase w 4x/5x till their fingers bleed on that flop.

The problem with whales is that their range is so extremely wide that you're gonna go through stretches of bigger swings than vs 'normal' players. On Microgaming I had -11BI in 4 days then +22BI in 5 days playing against the worlds worst players. By the sound of things 888 is similar. But these whales will get strong hands just as often as you do (even more since they chase without proper odds) and if they also play their weak hands aggressively, and have more weak hands than strong hands, then there's no way to avoid paying them off without making folds that are giving up valuable equity.

As long as you are making +EV plays you'll have big downswings but huge upswings playing against these types of player. On Stars I find I can get much more consistent profits, with less swings because the fish and regs are more predictable (and 3bet/4bet much less too). You just have to play against their entire range, and try to evaluate and make sure your estimation of their range is accurate. Don't lie to yourself and say passive fish is c/r bluffing etc so you can call loose w TPTK. But if spewy LAGtard shoves and you call w for example overpair and they have set, that's fine if they show up with worse so often and you just ran into the top of their range.

Just had the winningest day of my poker career so far. +$100.42 and a kind of worthless ticket on ipoker worth $5.25.

I finally reach the final table of this freeroll, after several top 100 finishes. I was really going for the win though, but got unlucky at the end. I'm still happy though, winning 8 BIs for NL10 (about equal to the total number of BIs I spewed this month)

My losing hand, had 56% equity on the flop! Was so hopeful but my luck ran out:
Pacific, 15,000/30,000 blinds, 3,000 ante No Limit Hold'em Tournament, 6 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

CO: 768,823 (25.6 bb)
BTN: 367,379 (12.2 bb)
SB: 246,402 (8.2 bb)
Hero (BB): 88,462 (2.9 bb)
UTG: 847,782 (28.3 bb)
MP: 246,152 (8.2 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 8 7
3 folds, BTN raises to 364,379 and is all-in, SB folds, Hero calls 55,462 and is all-in

Flop: (203,924) 9 2 6 (2 players, 2 are all-in)
Turn: (203,924) A (2 players, 2 are all-in)
River: (203,924) J (2 players, 2 are all-in)

Results:

Spoiler

203,924 pot
Final Board: 9 2 6 A J
BTN showed K K and won 203,924 (115,462 net)
Hero showed 8 7 and lost (-88,462 net)

This gave me some motivation. Time to work even harder!
