After a year or so of playing bad poker and occasional bad luck (or vice versa in PLO HL), I've gotten to play in a live tourney, freeroll at that for kicks giggles, where I got a 33USD ticket to PAF.com tourney for winning a 2nd place (tiny northern european network which sponsored the event). Took 5 hours and 30ish players to get there, not too tough, but a surprise none the less, seeing how bad my run was and how many brewskies I had that night.
Then a week later after checking out that site tonight I semi-randomly decided to play a freeroll tourney there, since I am BR-broke and had/have no intention of depositing until I can muster up my a-game, since it would otherwise just be money lost gambling (done some of that as you might guess).
Freeroll had a whopping 33usd gtd, giving 1usd to first 33 players. 5 cent rebuys and 10 cent addons however all were to go to 1st place. about 240 players registered, starting stacks 25bb and 6 minute levels.
My original intention was to luckbox into top 33 and get a buck for some cheap sngs. That plan held up, as I had 6bb when the bubble burst after 2-3 hours of play.
Then I somehow managed to get to final table over the next half hour as 2nd shortest stack, due to half of top 33 shoving any two every hand.
And then I won the bloody thing, for a 22usd first prize. It came slow, like wow, Im final table. Oh, still will get same payout for 9th or 2nd (1usd). Wow, 5 people left, wow, Im 2nd biggest stack. Wow, Im chip leader with 4 people left, do I have a shot? Wow, Im HU with 2x advantage against a tight-passive player. Wow, I won 69s vs A9o shove for victory...
The feeling of an unexpected victory is just overwhelming. It felt better than any of the wins I've had in the past years, which I care to remember. :heart:poker. Wish everyone of you to get more of those!
