Very restrained. Grab me on Skype and we can negotiate a repayment plan for my massive sports betting debts.

And when you've payed up to danny that money will be making its way too me :f_biggrin:

I don't like the sound of that, but at least you're not an Arsenal supporter.

I played my first HU SnG against Manu this lunchtime. I chose first, went for FLHE and managed to scrape home. Full Tilt seem to have buggered up their own hand history format, so I'll have to post some interesting hands later if I can (in this context 'interesting' = I ran a successful bluff, value bet thinly or got horribly sucked out on - I'll leave everything else to Manu _cool: ).

Just shipped my gambling debt to Danny, which involved looking at my cashier. Apparently I'm $700 down this month. Fml. New plan needed I think.

What's with this not looking at the cashier business anyway?

Surely you've been around long enough (also with a background in math) to not waste your time constantly checking your cashier/graphs or lose your shit if you're a little behind or ahead like these young internet kids. :f_p:

Very funny. I used to have to check a lot because I was using such aggressive BRM. I just wanted to try the not looking thing. Tbh, it didn't help much because you can see when you're getting set up or sucked out on over and over. The only time I 'lose my shit' is when I'm playing Candy Crush.

I do think I've been outlevelling myself a lot. E.g. 'Oh! He's really polarized here. There are so many busted draws. I need to call.' When what I should really be thinking is 'It's NL50. That's a very big bet. I need to fold.'. I'll try it for a bit longer, but the urge to play a FL game is strong. I'm seriously considering taking up SH FLHE. I'm a novelty junkie, not a serious grinder, but I probably need to maintain the illusion that I enjoy NLHE for a bit longer for the purposes of marketing the book, although, having said that, the book has got loads of general poker stuff in it, not just NLHE, and I do admit to wanting to try different games at the end, so I don't think it's a big deal.

same thing happened to me when i came back to playing nl25
i had to force myself to "get it" by making up a "theorem" about that fact that we all know but refuse to remember.

whenever you get to the river and face a big bet from a microstakes regular, you can fold all your 1pair or worse hands regardless of the previous action.

i think my nl25 play has improved significantly since. i guess it still mostly applies to nl50?

Well, you know, any generalization is going to be wrong a lot of the time. I think I got used to playing NL100 where there are more players against whom you have to use a more complex thought process. Basically, I moved up to where they respected by raises, etc, etc. Poker is all about adjusting to your opponents, and if you get into a rut of playing in a particular way, you're not playing good poker, however deeply or otherwise you're thinking. You have to pick the right strategy for the right opponent, and the higher you play, the more complex the right strategy is. You can pat yourself on the back for playing a complex strategy against someone playing NL2, but it's usually not the right strategy - the right/optimally exploitative strategy is much simpler.

[1:13:19 PM] jbpatzer: o ffs
[1:13:23 PM] EmanuelC16: told you

I know him. I told him that he should have specifically said NLHE MTT flips, not PLO HU SnG flips.

The devil is in the detail.
