Heyho Boys & Girls! TwiceT back on the [Coaching] Mic!
At my age it gets hard to keep track of all the questions and strategy concepts around so Manu will be our Co-Host

As the title suggests, we will not focus on one game (format) specifically but rather on a wide variety of topics ranging from NLHE SH to HU PLO and general issues regarding our Poker Mindset. We will occasionally invite guests for games we don't play on a high level ourselves (e.g. SNGs, 5CD ...). While I personally started out playing SNGs and could consider myself a shark in 2008 I would probably be crushed these days by all those lawyers-turned-SNG-pros like Tim.
Most of our focus will be on NLHE SH though as I expect most of our audience to play this particular game. The coaching will take place twice (bi-weekly = bi-winning) a month and you can decide what we should focus on by posting ITT. I am open to any suggestions, we could even discuss live games if there is enough interest. As a default setup we will coach NLHE SH.
The coachings will be on sunday evening, the first session is going to be on June 9th. What we haven't decided yet is the time slot the coachings should take place in. There are two options to choose from and we wanted to ask you what you'd prefer:
18:00 - 19:30 or 22:00 - 23:30, CET that is.
It would be great if you could post your preferred time ITT. I am fine with both options, just keep in mind that overtimes are easier done in the last slot as we cannot block the twitch account if there are coachings afterwards. However, I do understand 22:00 + is quite late for old chaps like JB who need their well deserved beauty sleep before the start of another nerve-wrecking week.
Stay tuned for yet another update here next days
Heyho Boys & Girls!
This blog has always been my homebase on PokerStrategy and all big updates have been released here. Disclaimer I am not going back to blogging regularly. Spending a lot of time for our book during the last two years with JB made me age quite a bit and I don't have as many funny stories to tell like he has. I am also not living the party and baller poker pro lifestyle that I used to live between 2009 and 2011. I am way more settled down in my home city Vienna and focusing on my quest to rule the world and make it even more awesome
However, as you might anticipate by now, I have a pretty exciting update to make. After more than a year showing off my dark Black Member avatar I am back in the blue as a coach on PokerStrategy! You can expect regular videos as well as a monthly dual live coaching with Manu where we are going to cover pretty much all cash game formats in NLHE and PLO.
As for private coachings I'll mostly follow a completely new approach due to my new lifestyle and my commitments in a few business ventures.

MODERN POKER MENTORINGAccording to Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell, 10,000+ hours of experience/hard work are required to become exceptional in any subject. So far I have reached / exceeded those amounts in:
Poker: NLHE & PLO, all cash game formats live and online
Business & Finance, including master degree at uni
Mindset & Personal Development
You could probably argue that my relative skill is still very limited in those areas. I feel like it takes way more than 10,000 hours for me to excel, seems more like a lifetime. Or maybe it's just me who needs twice the amount Malcolm Gladwell suggests!? Given the hours I invested you can be sure I've made many mistakes. However, I've learned many things from them and strongly believe that I can add value to ambitious poker players. I will probably never stop playing poker completely as it has been a huge part of my life over the last years. I now consider the business ventures I am involved in my main priority. I still play live in Vienna (Europe's poker capital imo) or sometimes open online tables when I feel the urge to grind a little
On weekends I offer private coachings or join homegames with friends ♦
As one of the old school guys here with quite some experience I've thought about a different approach to coaching: mentoring. Instead of standard private coachings where we mostly look at the technical game of a student, I feel like there are already so many exceptional coaches and strategy videos out there, that I cannot add a lot of additional value. However, there is more to poker than technical skill only. In fact – you will learn that when you read our book, for updates keep an eye on the news section of PokerStrategy or check our website at http://modernpokereducation.com/ – there is more to the game than just playing correctly. It's about playing our best game as often as we can, focusing on self development as well as thinking about the big picture (privately, financially ... ) and our long term visions in life.
I hope I don't sound too arrogant when I say that I believe that I can help aspiring players not only increase their technical skill in poker but also help them improve their mindset in various areas, work on their personal development and widen their business and financial horizons. I am positive about providing significant value through skill and experience to motivated poker pros in this community who are prepared to work hard and bring their game to the next level.I will be supported by Manu (EmanuelC16) in this mentoring group / program who I regard as a perfect addition as he i) works with me in the same office in Vienna in an IT company we are both involved in, ii) has a lot of experience playing and coaching lowstakes players and iii) helped JB and me tremendously in putting a poker book together which we think is truly different to what has been published so far and will hopefully be helpful to our readers.
Here's the mentoring idea (basically copying it from the trading & startup world where this is very common): We will create a platform called MPM consisting of:
- Skype Channels: Poker & Strategy, live & online / Mindset & Personal Development / Trash & Talk / Finance & Business
- Hangouts Channel for quick and dirty interaction via mobiles (e.g. when playing live)
- An active thread in the private coaching section on PokerStrategy for feedback loops, exchange of ideas, updates on players' evolutions etc.
Note that this is mostly a mentoring program via chats where I am available “24/7” for your questions and issues. All discussions will happen in the channels so everybody can profit from them. MPM is unlike TeamTwiceT in 2010 where I received shares for winnings in exchange for private coachings (it turned out that my students started to make serious money after our deal was over, so I wont do that again ♦ fml). However, I will offer private Skype coachings twice a month on weekends for 90 mins with voice and screen sharing where students can freely decide what I should focus my coachings on.
I am usually online 24/7 either on my office setup, my Laptop/Netbook/Tablet when at home or travelling and on my mobile (Note 2 ftw!). I will therefore be available almost always. Those who haven't worked with me could check with people who have experience in doing so, I really use modern communication tools to quite an extent! ♦ I don't pretend to always have answers to all questions, I should be able to direct my crew to the right direction though and use my extensive network for professional input if needed. As you can imagine my services will come at a price. I will charge USD 500 per person per month (Skrill). This offer is only valid for June 2013, I will re-evaluate at the end of this test month, analyse the whole mentoring experience and decide if and at what price to continue.
Conventional one on one private poker coachings are still possible: Like during the last two years I charge 250 USD / 90 mins. I'm only available during weekends when I am not in the office or have business meetings.
People can leave every month (assuming the mentoring program continues after June). In order to stay in contact with me and the other students, I think it's best to allow everyone who once was a member of the mentoring program to stay in the trash talk channel and only leave the other channels. In case there is a lack of harmony between me and a student, I'll just ship the money back and we stop the mentoring process. I will try my best though and be nice to everyoneFor future user videos I do for PokerStrategy, people in the group will be considered first which should also add value to this offer.
This mentoring program will at first be restricted to 8 players and only start if at least 5 people apply. First come, first serve.
I will happily answer any questions you have and hope I explained my idea behind the mentoring program well enough

I will also become more active on the forums again and will occasionally update this blog with relevant information. ♠_cool: À plus tard mes amis !
