Sooo another month is over. Volume sucked hard but over the last 2 months i've been super busy and haven't been able to get any playing momentum up. Unrelated, i've also been unable to get any rungood momentum up, and lifetime on the $15s EV has run away from me. Think i'm at about 110BI under EV lifetime at the $15s, over like 3.5k games. Oh well, let's make that up on the $30s :f_biggrin: Speaking of which, I got moved to the $30s yesterday, so today is my first day grinding this limit, hopefully I won't see much of a difference and I can beat them with the same level of comfort as my last 2k games on the $15s _cool:

July Goals:

Up my volume!

Decent start to a higher limit for once!

Spoiler

$30s are pretty much the same as the $15s. Fewer fish though, but a ton of regs that don't really know what they're doing. I've encountered a few that I think had a decent edge on me, those that have dropped down from $60s for volume and a few really high volume $30s grinders with very good ROIs, but other than that i've had very little trouble.

That's some really evil profit right there. _evil: Great to hear that! Have you started 2-tabling or is this two days of work?

Nah still 1-tabling. Firstly, I find it endlessly more enjoyable, secondly, i'm not sure if i'm allowed to multitable or not

So yeah, just 2 days of 1 tabling, I tend to play 50/day on the days I have work then up it to 100/day for some of my days off.

you're not. :P . Nice results so far bud. It's nice to run well moving up.

Good to know Not that it bothers me at all, tried it previously and it just isn't fun, so I don't plan on wanting to multitable in the near future.

I'm currently on the verge of smashing my whole house up in a rage. And no, don't worry, i'm not tilting because of poker. This warm English weather has brought with it a copious amount of flies, and despite my best efforts, they just keep getting in. Buzz around my laptop screen like nosy little twats annoying the hell out of me. I'm taking breaks in between playing to go absolutely mental with a cushion or a towel to kill the little bastards, but whenever I get one another seems to appear.

Still upswinging. I'm currently up around 55BI on the $30s in 500 games, unfortunately I don't think a 10.6% ROI is sustainable in the long run, but oh well i'll just enjoy it while it lasts.

Much like this warm weather Britain is getting, we've organised a beach barbecue for tonight with a decent amount of us coming, a load of beer and food, and the joy of low tide at 9pm!

I'm running, quite frankly, sickeningly good.

To all those who say "Everyone runs under EV, can anyone show me a graph where they don't." Well, here it is. Although tbf i'm still under EV lifetime

Also very happy with my EV ROI, although it's still a small sample. If it is the same in 1.5k games time I will be incredibly happy :)

Finally started running a bit badly for the first time this month, 20ish BI under EV last 150 games but it's no biggie!

Managed to get a few games in today even though i'm hungover, because I won't get anything in tomorrow or Tuesday probably because we're going on a camping expedition for my brothers birthday, which should be fun!

So far on track for by far my best month ever in poker, both in EV and profits, let's see how the remainder of the month pans out before making any wild proclamations about best months ever :f_biggrin:

Nah ignore that, still running godly :f_biggrin: The girlfriend has gone away to some horse show for the weekend, so i'm going to put some serious volume in to take my mind off the fact she isn't here :f_cry:

Might put some volume in on Top Spin 4 as well, practice is desperately needed. One of my friends also has the game, and last weekend we had our first of many "Top Spin Nights" round his house. Basically him and another of my mates were on the same doubles team and me and my gf. We obviously altered it into a drinking game and dressed up in our best tennis whites for the occasion.

Unfortunately, despite taking an early 2 set lead, my friend actually got better after his 7 shots and 5 cans or something, and they crushed us for the remainder of the night, winning 6 sets in a row and taking 2 Grand Slam Titles off us. The next of our Top Spin nights is next weekend, where we'll be finishing off our annual Grand Slams with Wimbledon and the US Open.

Getting back on topic, I just played a guy for a few games with a little Silver Star next to his name telling me he was on the leaderboard for $5s-$14 HU Hypers, he was playing $30s vs me and, to be quite honest, was awful. His style was ultra aggressive, opening like 90%, 3betting about 55% of the time and c/r 4/5 of the flops I cbet. I can understand this style working against weak ass regs on the $7s, but on the $30s against an adapting player it just didn't cut it. I started adapting vs him by calling down a lot lighter than normal and 3betting the shit out of him, yet he continued to play the same game and just ended up getting crushed.
This just shows the gulf in class between $7s and $30s, a style at the $7s will get you on the profit leaderboard, whereas on $30s you'd probably be a fairly big loser.

Haha thanks, I put in another 10 games and won some more, barring me losing 70BI in the next 100 games i'm on for my best month ever :f_biggrin:

So, as it happens July was my best month of all time pokerwise. I started it by moving to the $30s and getting Sharkystrator, and then the next step on the agenda was to run hotter than the sun. The graph below says it all.

Spoiler

So, obviously I don't expect my long term EV ROI to be in the 6% ball park, but I think I can be fairly confident at this stage that i'm beating the games. I've learnt a lot this month, mainly regarding playing regs, so i'm pretty comfortable against most regs and there is no-one who sits me who I think "Ohhhh shit" when they do.

August will be more of the same hopefully, i'll continue to crush and hopefully up my volume some.

In real life news, I had to say goodbye to our loyal canine companion on Tuesday, her quality of life had declined pretty rapidly so my Mum decided the best thing to do would be to have her put down. We had her since the age of 2, and our white German Shepherd name Echo lived to the ripe old age of 13. Up until the day she died she was a lovely, happy and loyal dog, and she will be sorely missed :f_frown: Our other dog, the Alaskan Malamute, Maya, was fairly distraught. As she was lying there dying peacefully my Mum let her out, so she understood why she wouldn't be coming back. Maya went and lay down by her side on the grass while she passed and then spent the rest of the day lying alone in the kitchen in a clearly upset mood.
