I think it is true.

And, in my opinion, the better and stronger relations are not those you make during parties. Well, sometimes yes you can, but that's probably not the best place.

Hi Charles ! (and others)

No worries, motivation is not getting down. Still getting up early and spending very much time in poker. Also went out the last few weeks .. only my reading took a bit of a dive though.

Just did a calm.com session .. man I went so deep suddenly something very weird happend I was totally out of thought .. I'm actually not sure if I was asleep a few seconds :P

I have a rough time atm though with my mentallity .. I'm spending much effort in poker, reading, learning, watching videos and I am breakeven the last few months .. I'm really getting a bit dissapointed .. even hopeless sometimes .. I suddenly start tilting and stuff wich normally never happens .. probably my first real swing or something .. really weird :)

At work everything is fine ! I feel I really have a good relationship with most of my collegues .. they feel like real friends and that's nice :) I will also have my evaluation monday and tuesday we'll have 'teamday' .. basically a group of collegues organised 3 activities .. I was in the group and organised 2 of 3 activities .. so not bad !

Maybe my life is a little unbalanced as poker gets almost all of my time .. :) but atm it feels right (except for the downswing and tilting).
I also made the decision to do more concerts as I really like them more than going out .. I will try to go to queens of the stone age in october or november (they will be in Belgium :f_love: )

Maybe also try to go to werchter classic or something .. Would also love to see the foo fighters.

Page 3 ???? Time for an update !

So atm I'm really focussed at playing poker .. I am learning a lot, I am grinding a lot (back at 45 mans) and I am losing a lot :P

For the other stuff:
- Work is going well, I had a good evaluation so that's nice. Also working on a little text for our experts (we could give our opinion on youth unemployment. I really want to write a nice text for it. (Deadline: thursday)

- Social life: Is going better. I have more things to do .. I feel good :)

- Exercise: Well .. I am exercising .. not at a high level like I used to but it's better than nothing (it might be healthier)

- waking up early: not going that great. Have to restart I guess

Maybe an interesting story:
Friday I had a medical evaluation (my eyes weren't great .. I have trouble seeing from a long distance but I never wear my glasses so I scored 2/10 ). I walked through the city while it was raining lightly .. no big problem, but .. While coming back it rained really hard. People were using umbrella's or were taking shelter .. But I didn't have an umbrelle and I had to go to work. So basically what I did was put a smile on my face, walked at a really relaxed pace and went to work.

People were looking at me as if I was crazy because I was soaked and I wasa wearing a t-shirt and shorts ...but they were also smiling :P The negative situation felt very positive so that was cool. At work everybody was like: 'OMGGG what happened, you are soaked ? Do you want a towel ? Do you want a tshirt? ' It was actually pretty funny ..

The bad part is I feel a bit sick right now .. but I guess that was one thing I couldn't avoid (If I was mad and running I may have been sicked due to more wind or something)

So I was really proactive and not reactive ... wich is also a point I still have to improve (I sometimes get a little frustrated with client .. offcourse after they leave)

So that's it for now .. questions, remarks , ... they are all welcome

Well, yes this is being proactive. I like that.
I read the 7 habits long time ago, but I think I learned that from it. I learned to never complained (now I complained only about people who are complaining) and enjoy all what happens. And if something bad happens (for example, yesterday I losed my wallet, that's very embarrassing, but ok, it's useless to cry, let's take action to solve the problem).

And I find it really cool to walk under the rain. I think that we enjoy that naturally when we are kids. Kids love to run under rain, and to spring in the puddles, but when we grow up, we complain when it rains. We shouldn't. Rain is funny ! It's like we've been conditioned by our parents to hate rain. Do we hate water or being wet ? Not really. We don't like cold, right, and rain is often cold. But still, when it's warm and that there's rain, that's cool ! (and yes we can catch a cold ofc )

In my opinion, and in my experience, I really enjoy much better to be proactive, to enjoy what happens around me, instead of complaining about what happens.

Nice sir !
This is what I was thinking long ago .. I mostly watch kids and ask myself why they are so happy .. sometimes I think that they also 'learn to be sad' .. stupid stuff like dirty clothes or spilling a drink becomes a disaster while it actually isn't .. :)

We can learn a lot from kids

Looool something cool happened yesterday
I went to our free festival Genk On Stage to see trixie whitley:

I really love her music allthough she still needs to learn a lot .. but anyway .. I was dancing while most of people were standing still .. The music was good though ... So one moment she asked for a little more movement in the crowd .. So she played a little heavier song .. And suddenly a friend of mine while I was dancing started clapping but nobody followed ..

I though back about a post of schnitzelfisch

I was the first follower. I also started clapping and started dancing even harder while everybody still was almost standing still .. 2 minutes further everybody was clapping and moving :f_biggrin: :f_cool:

Awesome experience .. Trixie gave me and my friend the thumbs up

edit: this also shows I need to follow my feelings, good chance other people will follow too if I just keep doing what I do it felt really uncomfortable at first, but just minutes later it was awesome because we knew we started it :f_biggrin:

So basically I'm sitting on my chair trembling right now :P This is an amazing opportunity.. I really have to make something out of this !!!

So what happened a while ago:

- Our knowledge experts asked us for our input for youth unemployment. They didn't expect it but I wrote a text of 3 pages with the following titles:
*me as unemployed youth in the past
*me as a consultant with youth unemployed friends
*me as a consultant

Our knowledge experts were so enthousiastic they wanted me to speak in front of the CEO and all of the managment of .... (they have several managers for every part of our organisation

So it came as a surprise as I still thought my text wasn't that good at all :) well today something new happened .. it's nothing really big but still it's kinda fun. Yesterday our leader of project asked everybody to volunteer for a project of youth unemployment.
As I wasn't really motivated yesterday I wasn't sure if I would do it .. I was actually thinking about not doing it ... (was pretty sure of not doing it)

But our knowledge experts send my text to our project leader, she was also enthousiastic and asked me personally to volunteer and asked to contact me .. it's kind of awesome !! :)

I sure will !
Also talked with another guy who already talked to the managment .. I learned I have to pay attention to what I say. Can't be to idealistic as I wanted to put some critique on statistics and praise idealism (the perfect employment) ... But I will have to watch out to do that because of a lot of stuff :)

At least I'm learning by talking and that's nice and not hard to do !

I think that's something that could be interesting to be discussed.

In my experience, when you do something that is new, spontaneous and/or unknown, whether good or not, people are very easily impressed. You know that what you did is far from perfect, really improvable and maybe bad, but people don't care about that, they like it because it is unusual, because you produced something new etc…

I'm not sure if I'm really clear. What I mean is that you don't need to be an expert to shine and to impress, you just need to do things that other people wouldn't. People often have idea but just don't make them realizing, so when you do, even if it's not that good, they're impressed.

As an example, a few months ago I sold an article to Pokerstrategy that was published as a news. After I wrote it, I wasn't happy with what I did, I didn't know really how to make it better, but I found that my work was bad, and useless, unorganized, unfinished and finally the topic was only some intellectual masturbation (well I like that but that doesn't interest people and is worthless). So I told them I didn't want to publish it. But still I asked for some feedbacks from friends, and they told me that my work was great and that I was stupid to refuse to publish it. Then I changed my mind and the article was published. The article was still useles, unorganized, unfinished, worthless etc… But people liked it because that was something unusual, they liked the effort I did, even if the topic was useless (and nobody in comments talked about it).
And some other people were surprised. Why me ? I'm just a micro-limit poker player with some statistical background. Nothing really special. The only difference is that I just did it and better experts didn't, so even if my work was bad, people liked it.

My reflection about it is still unperfect, but if you have any opinion or other experience to share, that'd interest me. I'm not sure either what to conclude about it, I also could be mistaken.

yeah that's true, they told me they liked it because I said some stuff they never even thought about. I gave new insights and they want to hear more now .. So I probably should stick talking about myself (can make a joke about that) and tell my experiences as youth and as a consultant :)

Last weeks I'm feeling a bit confused .. I had a lot of vacation and I really enjoyed my freedom a lot .. I also feel really demotivated to work sometimes (it kinda starts to sting I'm working below my mastersdegree) ... Also not sure if it's my goal to stay there my whole life .. I'm searching for other options, but IF I wouldn't want to stay I would do something unusual and start something as an entrepreneur... Because I still believe the job I have now is awesome and my collegues are too ! So for the moment I'm good at where I am ! :) Maybe it's also because of the vacation .. I don't know but it sound logical.

Ok for the other parts .. I'm still going out more frequent then I used too .. Still not a lot but I guess it's not for me. Yesterday I went to a club (allthough I really didn't want to go) and I didn't have a great time at all .. Afterwards my ears where whisteling (don't know if they say it like this in english :P ) and I didn't hear as well .. today when I stood up I still had the same problem. Especially my left ear almost feels deaf .. I don't feel comfortable with this as my job requires to wear headphones ! But I'm not panicing yet so we'll wait and see.

A lot has changed since my lasts updates. I stopped standing up early because of poker (the $7 45mans don't reg good during the day) but now it's a choice and not a 'handicap'

I'm still reading books, I really like to do it too when I don't have something to do and I want to relax ! So that's nice ! :)

Still need to invest more energy in friends though .. :) but hey it's not my number 1 priority.

My number 1 priority is poker and that's going well .. good I guess .. I'm making a lot of progression but I'm also losing money .. But because I'm staked it doesn't matter.. Still it's not easy on the psychological side but I'm doing my best ...

I also have a new goal .. I'm thinking about doing something like 'a job' or something to earn a little extra on the side .. But something as an 'entrepreneur' well .. Not really a job but also something like poker wich I enjoy .. Atm was thinking at sportbetting but I'm not sure yet .. I can't think of any other options and I feel I'm not motivated enough to do sportsbetting yet .. :)

So especially on this last part I would really enjoy if you guys would share some ideas !

I have an account on tradimo .. but it's pretty weird to start with and I have to make a bank account or something or link my own bankaccount or something .. I don't like that If it was some sort of a pokerstars system where I had some sort of a bankroll without a bank .. that would be nice

What went wrong?

Realitycheck. After a good start everything went wrong. My sleepschedule changed, my social progress almost ended, a minor setback at work, a setback at poker, a huge setback at gym ... Everything went wrong but why ?

Life Balance
At a moment I was doing well. Made huge progress and stuff was doing great, had some job succeses , had a big progress in poker , started to go out more , exercised better and had better sleep patterns. At a moment especially the poker became interesting so it started occupying more of my time ! Wich was great. I learned so much ... it was nice.

Since I was learning so much I wanted to put even more time in it. I started sleeping later because of volume issues on the $7 45mans so I also started waking up later. It gave me less eneergy so I didn't look forward ghoing to the gym (still went at least twice a week though but no more cardio). I also rather stay at home playing poker...

Then it happened. I still love poker, but motivation became a little loweer and suddenly there I was .. no poker .. what should I do ? All my other habits faded away. I only knew poker .. all the rest was empty. I started to focus so much on succes that I started making crucial mistakes . I lost balance. Poker was always on my mind and also at my job I was always busy improving and being the best.

Wake up call
Some days back at work a coworker called my and wanted to speak to me .. well I thought she was going to say something about someone else. The funny thing is it didn't occur to me she wanted to speak about me. It was nothing to bad but it was still a wake up call.

I had created a habit to ask everybody about their cases because I wanted to know everything, every exception, every detail of possible knowledge, ... but I wasn't aware that meant I wasn't minding my own bussiness and I was anoying some people ... After my coworker said this it struck me ... she was absolutely right and I had no problem admitting it .. I didn't like hearing it at all, but I'm really thankfull she did because I needed to hear that !!!

Suddenly I saw how my whole life in the last month transformed to succes succes succes ambition ambition ambition .. and it's not a bad thing, but it shouldn't be the only thing

That's where I went wrong .. I'm not living to work, it's the other way around ... For me my work is a big part of my life. But I behaved like it was my whole life ... and it's not. It's also about friends and having fun.

So I learned a lot thanks to my coworker! I didn't enjoy hearing it, felt bad the whole day even though I tried not to (there wasn't any use as she said it on a really nice manner and she wanted to tell it now before she was to annoyed). I think you guys can learn from this as well .. losing balance happens faster than you might realise !

To do:
- Revise vision statement
- Think about sleep
- Think about gym/sport ambition
- Think about extra task for extra job
- Think about nice hobbies to do just for fun
