Well, for one thing my edge is hard to quantify, and for another, I tilt like a monkeyboy at nlhe cash]?

Congrats on another successful year as a pro! [Gracias!]

Just ground my way out of a 1k game b/e EV patch. I think I'm playing better than usual at the moment and have a few promising irons in the staking fire, both of which are pleasing. Couple of nasty jolts to the horror shoulder led to sharp intakes of breath and girlish wincing during the last 24 hours, though.

Grown up dinner out tonight at our home town's one and only brand new Sushi place. Then down to Londres tomorrow, for Granny time. (I've started calling my Mum 'Granny', which I'm sure delights her...)

Seen some godawful films recently which will soon make their way here.

Edit:

"Full Tilt Poker has become aware of a situation involving a violation of our Terms of Service, to the potential detriment of other players. You participated in games that were under consideration in this case and as a result you may have been adversely affected.

In a case such as this it is our policy to confiscate the balances of the offender(s) and for Full Tilt Poker to add funds where appropriate. This compensation pool is then distributed to players potentially affected in as fair a way as possible.

We have determined that you are entitled to a refund of $24.07 which has been credited to your account. "

I never used to get these in the bad old days. Wonder how much I'm owed in back payments from when FTP was run by crooks?

This Sunday evening (check your local paper for times) I'm appearing live with TwiceT on Modern Poker Coaching. Flavour of the month is HU Plo SnGs of varying limits, where I play like a fish and run hot.

Be there, or be... elsewhere.

Nah. No Epic shizzle section in the NZ Herald.

I did look in this thread for directions. But, alas, I was not able to find the directions. I'm always a bit nervous when I make comments like this as often the directions are in the thread and very clear to all but the elderly

No subject for tonight. But Enjoy2playAK from the German community requested an update so here's a short one.

With about a week to go, I might make my 600 gs target. It's been a decent month thus far with ABI $42.13 and ROI around 8%. Rakeback is falling across the board as I'm fighting a losing battle to maintain SN on Stars, have fallen to Platinum on FTP and Silver (lol) on Party. I can live with that, I guess, as pre R/b has always been a bigger part of overall profit for me, but it's still an annoyance...

Good weekend just gone with my parents. Little one loved the trampoline and we had a lovely picnic on the journey up, having found a suitable field and a friendly farmer.

We're off to Spain beginning of next week so there's a last push of playing, coaching and managing my couple of stakees, who are both doing splendidly with minimal assistance from me :P

Just watched Night of the Sunflowers, which I think I'll review.

I would say this is the first month for a while that I have felt really excited about poker. It's easy to tell when that's the case, because I start having trouble getting to sleep! My results, reasonable though they are, are not the main cause of this. Thanks to Mr paracetamol and Mrs ibuprofen I managed to squeeze out the 600 games I'd hoped for at something approaching the necessary profit margins, although the first half of the month was more fun than the second half (as you can see).

No, What has really got me enthused has been the pleasure of drafting my own bespoke staking agreement from scratch, negotiating the agreement with intelligent pokeristas, and coaching and mentoring them through their respective poker journeys. I think I've been unusually fortunate since I have been approached by the most professional and dedicated set of individuals imaginable.

Being a staker is more than just shipping funds around the Internet. You are in fact taking a level of responsibility for the livelihoods and skill development of those you are working with. It's not something to be taken lightly and I'm trying hard to be as professional as supportive as possible. One definite downside is that, as someone incurably incapable of not looking at my own results, I've added the burden of checking and worrying about other people's results as well! :)

Coaching also went well this month, with three new students (excluding the stakees). As usual, they are bright, easy-going individuals who listen patiently to my ramblings and each time I talk to them I realise how much they have taken in and how much improvement they have made. It's a pretty good feeling.

I had a disagreement yesterday with a poker playing acquaintance. Often, and especially when I'm playing in games with lots of few recreational players I say "gg" at the beginning of the tournament. It's a trivial thing but I want the game to be as enjoyable as possible for them (no need to explain why). Well, I got a bit of a lecture from this acquaintance about why this was weird and pointless. I said I would keep doing it regardless so he made a point of blocking my chat and telling me, later on, that I had been behaving like a child all morning (this was because, once he blocked me, I asked other players to say "gg" on my behalf so that he would hear it - which, to be honest, I and they both thought was kind of funny ). Probably I overreacted and I'm just too sensitive for my own good but to be honest the whole thing left a sour taste in my mouth and I think people often don't realise how much hurt a few ill-chosen words can cause.

On to happier things. Tomorrow we're flying to Alicante for the yearly R&R at the family outpost on the Costa Blanca. As (essentially) a one armed man, I shan't be doing much in the way of swimming. But perhaps I can manage to lie in the sun and use the other arm to lift a cool cerveza up to my lips...

Take care all, and see you soon.

Solid month as usual, the coaching and staking adds a good chunk to your monthly profits, shows why it is good to diversify ;)

Have fun lifting your cerveza in Alicante :f_biggrin:

So, we went to Spain for the family holiday. Then we came back and went to the Isle of Wight (Britain's answer to Ibiza... for 90 year olds) for a family gettogether.

And I know I owe you a trip report. So here's a short one:

Spain: Sun, restaurants, sea, tan, peeling. Lunchtime drinking, mosquito bites. One armed swimming. Water outages. Delayed flights, tantrums. Overall, a good break but getting there and back with an unruly 3.5 year old is a frickin' nightmare. :)

But on the upside, we did pass by Pokerstrategy's Costa Blanca HQ:

IOW: Family, fun parks, rain, bit of sun, then rain again. Drinking with family, swimming with 1.5 arms. Ferries. Driving playlists.

Back to the grind with half the month gone, and battling the head honchos to get some videos made. Only been a year and a half since my first vid for pokerstrategy...
