MP: $22.50 (225 bb)
CO: $6.64 (66.4 bb)
Hero (BTN): $30.02 (300.2 bb)
SB: $16.21 (162.1 bb)
BB: $7.23 (72.3 bb)
UTG: $21.27 (212.7 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BTN with K 7 Q 9
UTG raises to $0.35, MP folds, CO calls $0.35, Hero raises to $1.55, 2 folds, UTG calls $1.20, CO folds

Flop: ($3.60) T 4 5 (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets $2.60, UTG calls $2.60

Turn: ($8.80) 3 (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets $5.90, UTG calls $5.90

River: ($20.60) 7 (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero checks

Is this hand good enough to 3bet UTG raiser? UTG stats are 20/15/0 Af: 1.9 after 330 hands. Here we're 200bb deep - what about if we're 100bb deep?
Flop is medium dry/light and since he doesn't have AA I think standard cbet .. Do I have the right betsizing or should I cbet less like 1.80?
Turn completes FD which is besides Txxx his most likely holding .. is there any value in betting or should I just give up and check behind? is the bet sizing right?

i'm not an expert but:

if his general PFR is 15 - what's his positional UTG Open stats? probalby around 8-11...
so in my opinion this hand is a preflop fold. "even" 100bbs deep. because even if you flop great - you can still find yourself dominated quite often

about flop cbet - what makes you think he does not have AA? :)

I don't know if he's positionaly aware. 330 hands is to small sample. his positional stats are UTG 19/19 (21), MP 7/7 (46), CO 13/13 (60), BTN 33/33 (70)

so looks like he knows that to open hand from button is cool and otherwise is pretty tight.

this is problem because there are 2.5 % AAxx hands which is 25% of 10% UTG opening range. therefore, 100bb is probably call, idk about 200bb deep, though - if it's still only call or you can also 3bet ...

actually i didn't think of fold at all, but yeah .. probably also this is relevant option ... especially because calling this type of non-nutty hand and play 3 or 4way isn't good ... now i'm thinking more about 3bet or fold .. 100bb fold and 200bb 3bet .. but frankly, i'm pretty lost.

on flop i know that he doesn't have AAxx because he would 4 bet this hand preflop ..

i see.
flatting this preflop would be really bad i think. you would have ended up in a 4 or even 5 way pot with this hand, and that can only mean one thing - trouble :f_biggrin:

3betting would be good probably only in some very rare spots.
like if UTG was a very loose fish and rest of the table is super tight :P

oh yeah i think you are right about no AAxx in his range.

Hi Ceko,

I would expect a 20/15 player after 330h to have a solid preflop hand selection and i would put him on a premium hand when he raises from UTG.
If u use a HUD, u can configure a popup on the PFR stat to check in one click if he's positionaly aware.
Moreover, when CO calls, it will be difficult to play that hand heads up. In this case CO has folded but most of the time, he will call your 3bet. And you'll end up to play a non nutty hand multiway.
I think a fold pre would be the best option here.

Since you have no blockers and you didn´t up any extra equity I would five up (check back turn and fold to river).
I doubt you have enough fold equity to barrel profitable on the turn and unless you´re willing to fire again big on the river, he would never really going to fold his flushes/sets and maybe even two pairs.

best regards,

Hi,

preflop squeeze is really not good. You will be dominated a LOT by the UTG's opening range here.

I like the turn bet tough, i think it's definetly fine as most FD's will raise you otf. When he calls he obv has a flush, and i wouldn't try to make him fold without more specific reads.

Thank you all for your responses. Now I totally agree that it would be best to fold this preflop since we're facing UTG range and 1 caller with non-nutty hand.
