I play a lot of sngs and would love to do it as my job. At the moment I am just your average abc tag playing 9 man microstakes. I am a winner and have studied a lot with push/fold.In your opinion is it possible to play solid abc poker (tight early game, solid push/fold end game) at the $7 games at pokerstars, 15/20 tabling and make an ok living?
And for example if you play 100 $7 games a day, 5 days a week, how much does this earn in rakeback at the end of the month (not including any profit from the games)?
Many thanks man!

Hey man, I dont mind at all.
Playin solid "abc" poker is a very good start, it is winning strategy, correct strategy. At some point at higher stakes or just coz u wanna be better and earn more, u start to deviate from this abc strategy to myximalize your EV expectations..based on your skills, exploitin regs, gainin more value from fish and so on. Also, tableselection is crucial..but that goes for 15s+, at 7s abc and even without table selecting is absolutely fine.
Make living = in what country, what expectation u have? What ROI do u have...I know few guys i coached adn watch at 7s who are makin pretty easy about 10% ROI at 7s turbos, if u play abc, 15/20 tables u can definitely be playin like 7% ROI at least = 100*7*5*4*0,07=980$ preRB. I wouldn care about rakeback at 7s coz u ll never make SN, so it ll not be any huge amount of money, take it only as some dollars extra, concentrate on your A game and maybe even drop tables, study, hire coach, w/e = at level like 7s it s in my opinion the biggest leak for "regs" that they play some volume for some RB, I ask what fuckin RB??? If u rather pick good games, u can easily make close to 1dollar per game...so study, improve, play nice poker = u ll be able to go up in limits also...
Coz seriuosly, if u play 2000 7s per month, u rake what? 1200$ at best and u get 6600VPPs, is it Platinum star? Closely, so u ll have at best 2,5x FPP multiplier = 16,5kFPPs month = maybe like 200$ at best from RB...why would u grind like monkey with high tabling, lower ROI, bigger variance for this?...U get my point?

Thanks for the reply man ur a legend!
My roi at the moment is around 17% playing the $1 9 mans on 888 poker, usually 8 tabling. I dont even know if 17% is good considering how bad the players are lol.
But saying that, there are surprisingly some good mutli tablers at these limits. And when i play them i do exploit them as you say. Il do things like steal their blinds more if there the type to play really tight earlier on. And 3bet crazy wide against lag regs who think im tight and are mraising atc v me.
I dont play wit a HUD but im getting to the point where even 8 tabling im really aware of whos who as in player type, so im conifdent with a hud i can play more tables. Most of my sng education has come from collin moshmans book and watchin old sippin criss vids lol, so I have a lot of studying to do. Ive had a couple trials with other websites like cardrunners and picked up a few tips but most of my game has improved recently by studying nash for the end game.
Im just a young guy from the uk so i dont have high expectations right now, i just wana make enough money so i dont have to work for anyone else. Like u say, poker = no boss! Playing higher limits and making more money can come later.
And thanks for the explanation on rakeback, i dont have a clue how it works! But i guess at the 7's it doesnt matter. Thanks again mate

Thx for nice words, but legends are more likely Collin and sippin, so u definitely have the best sources, it is oldschool, OK, but at lower limits it s still very good and as I said it is the great start.
Didnt know there are like multitabling regs at limits like 1 dollar, but if so, u know exactly the right spots where to raise more, hows your image and so on = again, very solid, move up.
Addin HUD = more ways to make more money, it would be almost stupid not to use it
Seems u have nice work apetit, so use it, go for it, smash the 7s. If u ned some help like coach/stake when u ll be at least at 3,5s on Stars, just PM me
GL!One more tip - wednesdays 22,00 CET = free sng coaching on pokerstrategy from Collin - da best

Thanks for the offer man i appreciate it!
Yeh is it funny playing these regs at such a low limit. I mean 95% of players are randoms but there are about 10 guys who i play with all the time on many tables. Some laggy, some tight, some crazy lol
The only reason i havent moved up is because like i said ive only watched old videos and books so im not that up to date with the latest strategies etc. So i dont wana run into gd players and lose my roll....tho i doubt it playin 3's and 5's lol. Probably still bad players there too.
And cheers for the tip man, ill def be watchin the coaching tonight.

Unless you play hypers ![]()
But seriously, follow MB words, its the best to focus 100% on playing really good, solid poker, then after you master it start thinking about RB and living from poker, coz it's not so easy as it seems ![]()
Also if you wanna play SNG professionaly-semipro i advice you to move to pokerstars. ATM its the only site that provides decent traffic all day long.
Even if you play 200000000$ stake you should focus on improving your game. Nothing is compared to the feeling of having an edge in a certain game. The more you focus on rakeback the more miserable you will be. My 2cents

Yeah from some level of stakes your edge even bein like the best player in the world is very low...and if u r the pro withou like billion dollars saved, variance can be hard = rakeback is the good thing for stress releave , also it becomes the bigger part of your income and so on...but u cannot ever go for just griiind...u need to study or it ll catch u, believe me
Yeh i plan to move to pokerstars soon. My question about rakeback was purely out of curiosity, i just choose the 7's as an example. Like i have no idea how it works...
That coaching session was so kool milan. Makes me realise even more how much i need to learn. Gotta get studying.... ♦
Well, I'm not up to date with the whole conversation but you can reach SN with 7s if you play 90 of them each day. Which is feasible.

And there u go, grindin your ass, makin some volume, lackin study time and playin not A game or w/e in days u just dont wanna play for wat? 300+ from RB month, maybe additional 100 from stellar...so again, is that really that big of a deal to have supernova at these stakes?

You also can make SNE playing 30s turbos only:)

Nice to hear ![]()
In my opinion as I also said in coaching it's better to focus on quality over quantity in early phase of poker career. You have to learn the game and understand what to do and why to do it. It will be easier to improve yourself with smaller table amount so that you are not forced on your decisions, because of sitting out in tables and time bank alarms. Of course you want decent volume to actually get playing experience.
Actual multitable skill improve can come later when you have learned solid foundation for your game and got into bigger stakes where making good profit is possible. As belthazorrr said studying and improving your game is endless process for someone who plays for living or aims for it. E.g. personally I tend to review marked hands almost daily and now and then do other sort of study. Outside of stuff that comes with being coach for Finland PS community.
Anyway good luck for your goals

Well yeah, I'd rather do 46x 15s a day, or 23x 30s a day.
It depends on the person though. Maybe in his country average wage is 400$ and those 300$ extra might be something amazing.
Is he comfortable playing 15s in that instance when he's putting 3x nights out worth of money on one single table? Or 10 burgers.
This might sound silly, but the money you find insignificant might mean a lot for some.
Maybe he wants to grind the SN the secure, easier and least stressful way and then start the next year playing 15s or 30s.
Just sharking my thoughts. If I started this year as SN I'd have 3k$ extra for doing nothing, which I wouldn't mind at all. I can buy a rather decent car for that money or rent a 70m2 apartment for a year.
PS: I just noticed I got the 1000th reply, hurrah for me!
One big mistake in what you are takin about. You are spending money you dont have. And its a mistake i was doing (can bet pretty all of us did).
There is no point to plan what i can do with money i dont have atm. This only leads to problems and tilt.
As he's begginer he shouldnt be thinking about rb at all imo, just focus on learing basics of game, understand ICM spots and apply ICM correctly when playing. Then comes multitabling.

I would never spit on single dollar, so dont take me wrong, that these money are like notin for me or w/e, but am givin advice, same as other pros as u can see above, that concentratin on the game is much important in this phase and it also is actually makin more money, coz rb is so small.
For u...if u started as SN u would make 1,600 follars more, not even dollar more or how are u calculating it?...u were dropin to some bronze status every month?
Yes, you are right. I mixed my numbers up, thought SN RB is 45% right off the bat but that only comes after 500k. I'ts only 37% for the first 100k as SN.
But it's still a bit more of a difference then 1.600 for a year unless Platinum guy saves his points throughout the whole year (or however time he needs to reach SN) until he reaches it and buy the biggest bonus.
100k with Platinum: 3247$ + 1200$ = 4447$ (buying 200$ installments)
100k with SuperNova: 5600$ + 1200$ = 6800$ (buying 1600$ installments)
So this way it's 2353$ of a difference because I believe Platinum guy will buy 200$ bonuses in order to progress faster through the levels.
after SN you got 350k vpps, so you cant buy 3,5*1600 bonuses. Only 3x1600 and 600$ for 40k
OH SHIIIIT!
