SB checks, Hero bets $1.00, SB calls $1

River: ($13.99) K :diamond: (2 players)
SB bets $9.25, Hero raises to $18.50, SB folds

Postflop: on the turn his raise looks weak so i just called his raise to keep his bluffs in like :spade: draws, 87. against slowplayed sets raising is prob better. how would you play river? at the time i thought if i shove he would fold top of his range here so i decided for min raise.
what do you think? tnx

Hi dalmar469,

His raise really polarizes his range to 4x or nothing so I agree with just calling there to keep his bluffs in. The other option is to 3-bet small to induce something and maybe get value from draws.

As played what can he really call with that raised the turn? Just a 4x and that's it. What do you expect to have value from? Maybe a random Kx? I think those bet/fold.

sometimes i see some players slowplaying sets on bad flop texture and raising bad turns like this one (rarely but happens sometimes) but i doubt he is playing sets this way. and yes, i was thinking that he might call river min raise with random kx cos of insane pot odds

I know what you mean about them raising flop value hands there but it's so rare that I wouldn't hope for it.

And as played he is really polarized on that river imo considering his bet size. I doubt Kx would ever bet that much,.
