As an aspiring sng player I must say this blog is awesome. It's amazing how much volume you're putting in, the results you're getting. Hopefully I'm near the same level you're in right now somewhere next year. Keep it up!

Hi man,
I have to admit, that this is the best blog I have read so far (even tho I'm still not at the end). It is most motivational thing for me! This whole thing- your mindset, passion and all the stuff about the poker makes me work harder than ever. I also appreciate that you are very kind and nice to people, which is needed and overlooked in todays world...
My goals are exactly like yours that you had in the begining (moneywise).

I sent you a friend request. I would like to ask you some questions through PM if you wouldnt mind and have a little time for me. :)
good luck at the tables and keep your positive attitude!

Hi Topolman,

Glad you enjoy the blog and found it inspirational. I will be more then happy to help you out with any questions you might have. I was brought up that way so being nice and kind comes from family background and I agree it is much needed in today's world where people are totally stressed out nervous pissed off and go off easily.
Regarding your goals again it is excellent that you set them already. The sooner that you know what you really want, the better for long run cause you can focus on ways how to achieve it.
Accepted your friend request and feel free to send me message, I will try to respond within 24-48 hours.

Thank you for all your wishes and all the best in your future poker improvement and goal reaching!

Its been very stressful past week or so. I let other life things add up stress to my game plus the fact that goal I set is not as easy as it seems = tons of stress and somewhat anger/depression starting to build up. To my current grinding goal add coaching and stress with students (who don't complete their assignments or don't grind specified number of games or take too long to move up limits or improve overall cause they don't put in effort or hours or still treat poker as hobby not as job) add the fact that I don't find time for gym (cause I work on my game every morning instead of it which I prioritized) and then add the fact that I spend less and less time with my good friends going to football games, socializing or anything. To all this I have gf for 4 weeks and it has started to get somewhat more serious which also requires even more time sacrifice which causes even more stress to build up gradually...
By the end of October , remaining 6 days I have to play about 168 games each day to reach SN. After that 4200 games in November + same amount in December. Tons of stress when you add that with other life activities.

In order to to reach the goals I set (SN 150k, have 50% of money from RB for me and 50% for Gerovit have at least 200-300 buy ins to play Stars from January on my own) I will have to pause my relationship with current gf until further date... It hurts me a lot to say but after I taught about everything I made a decision to do it. I did this today and from today on I will focus much more on poker, will work even more on my game and stay in to play 8-10 hours on more days to decrease this high volume goal and decrease stress (not do things by the 31st of December but before it).
Was thinking a lot about what to do in this situation... Stop the challenge, do less than 150k VPPs, settle with less cash etc. In the end I choose to keep the challenge because without those games and points I still can't depend what will happen with my ROI in next 70+ days , if I will be by the end of the year +2-3% total ROI or have BE or be -1-2% pre RB etc Its the way poker works, variance is very unpredictable, Im tasted the action of it in this year and a half playing large volume every month moving limits working on my game etc. Just look what happened in past week or less, another DS of 100 buy ins, running below EV and what not cause games are reg infested heavily. It seems that there are about 5-10 new regulars on top of 30+ regulars that play daily between 50-130 games a day. Most of them are aggressive with selected aggression, they still have leaks like we all do but the fact is push/call game is decent for all of them hence variation is inevitable. Many times I stay with 3 regs in 4/4 players. I play 12 tables, have time to make all the decisions but still it doesnt help when you get run over. I don't want this to sound like crying out loud but I feel to have 5% + ROI on 15s steady you have to play 9 to 3-4pm cause after that you get 3 more regs minimum per table which decreases your ROI.
All this has got me thinking about next year plans. I still want to play stars , still want to increase my ROI on 15s and move to 30s and beat them with minimum 2% ROI 3k games a month ... I did calculations with my brother and with 65% RB on Microgaming where regs are much softer and worse then the ones on 15s stars, with 2% ROI PRE RB you can make following :
3000x 1 = 3000 euro rake x 65% (30 VIP, FDB 20, RACES 15%) =1950 euro
3000x 10 x 2% = 600 euro from 2% ROI
Total 2550 euro = 3442.5$
So basically 2% roi on network where there is weaker and bad regs is attainable on 11 euro limit and you earn as if tho you were playing Stars with supernova 37% rb same number of games but with 5% + RB...
The only problem here is future on microgaming cause you cant play higher limits and rake more, there is no traffic for it and simply traffic is dead in the morning so you are doomed to play 6pm to 1am or something like that. I switched to Stars primarily not to play these times but to finish my day by 6-7pm all the working on the game coaching playing everything and then from 7pm relax hang with friends gf watch tv shows go to games etc - this what is great about stars and of course the fact that you can move up levels and improve your game already with 30s on stars with 2% roi you earn more money then the scenario above but also it is possible to have more than 2% roi pre RB on microgaming cause as I said they are not many good regs most off them are tight passive nits or using nash and thats it with tons of post flop leaks and HU being very exploitable...
To all this add that you need much less money for the roll if you compare 11s microgaming and 30s stars , it looks better to play microgaming to build sick roll and then shot 30s on stars. There is moral dilema here cause I coach some players that play 11s microgaming and I literally want to puke how many bad plays I see from regs there. If I do go there to play I will feel stupid playing my own students and taking their profit in the games which is another reason why I am more for stars.
To sum things up, the way things look I have couple of options:
1) Achieve 150k VPP, have enough money and stay on Stars 15s build roll there and go for 30s within 6 months or so
2) Achieve 150k VPPS, have enough money and move to Microgaming to build 9k$ roll faster and then come back to Stars !
3) Achieve 150k VPPs, mix stars in the morning and microgaming in the evening which will be sick move money wise
4) The worse option - not achieve 150k VPPs, have less money but barely enough to play 11s microgaming, stay there build a roll dominate that limit with minimum 2% roi (go for 5%) and in the meanwhile work on the game heavily take coaching with Gerovit, Ghaleon, LTT, Kurkabin, work on the game with Gavron and Demonic and prepare for 30s stars exclusively

There you go, feel that a lot of stress has been lifted once I wrote down all this things in my blog. I can hold myself accountable, track my progress and toughts and choose the best option by the end of the year.

On the side note, I hope to decrease my stress soon, fix my time management (finish all my obligations by 7pm) and reactivate my relationship with gf I was with until today...

See you around everyone and thank you for your support here and on skype - nice to have so many good people around me , really great full to PokerStrategy for making this place special in my life and people that I meet trough it!

Have a good weekend and see you at the tables :f_cool:

I read the whole thingy, bro and I am officially one of the three people to do so :)))

Joke on a side, if I can be helpful, I will give you one simple advice-always adjust.

2 years ago, many people switched from 9-man to 6-man, so that they can get softer tables, higher ceiling and traffic. Then, the same happened to 6-max turbo games. Now, you can get decent traffic only up to the 30$s. You can't even 9-table the 60$s to give you an example. So many people started adding 6-man hypers to their game. Or 18-man, fifty50, or back to 9-man.

Poker is a dynamic business and you always need to find new ways to extract max value. Once you get too comfortable, your development as poker player is probably on hold.
My suggestion would be to mix formats, mix limits and possibly mix networks. First thought would be to play stars in the mornings/weekends and then add some games at night on microgaming when you feel like.

I know you have poker goals, but make sure you have a good work/life balance. If you are grinding too hard you will burn out. Best of luck.

Thanks brate you made me laugh from the beginning

I was planing to take coaching with Ghaleon for some 18mans from January + purchase some courses for it perhaps from ILS or some other website specialized for them. I have a friend playing 18 mans on Stars for 2 years and he is within top earners on 7$ limit also playing 15s and doing fairly decent there.
I totally agree with you, its all about adjusting and finding edge in different formats limits networks etc. This is why I was considering Microgaming as added option to Stars, to table select both or add Ipoker which also has some traffic. Ideal situation would be going for SNE using 6 max hypers but I don't think I can take on that pressure and stress yet - not afraid of work and grind but more afraid of not balancing out life things! Best option would be in my opinion Stars in the morning for some volume and less regs and then Ongame playing 11-100+$ limits 5 max. Problem is there is absolutely no traffic on Ongame now, we have 2 students there grinding but they mix the traffic with Microgaming and/or Ipoker. It is crazy how little traffic there is, really wondering whats happening with poker economy and future - seems like everybody is switching to stars or maybe changing formats?

By the way saw pics with Demonic, hope you got him some Latin girl there :P
You should come to Nis soon, Gavron was already here he is coming again for the whole week in November - very excited cause of this :) Now that I am single I can drink more beer with him and we can hit on girls even more and occasionally talk poker

Thanks once again brate for all the advices and I hope you are crushing them on hypers and turbos 30+!

Read all.

To me GF is vital, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy and in your case probably a depressed boy.

I have asked you before, but will again. Why not 45 mans, you can multi-table the 9 men comfortable so can only imagine 45 man would be even easier, less crucial decisions, less reg/fish ration etc. etc.

Sure you would make a fortune, but what do I know :)

Gl any way sir, keep up the grind

Glad you did!
That's the thing, I am not grinding 8+ hours a day to say that I am grinding too hard. No, problem is that I am working on the game and coaching + other life things so the day with grinding becomes super busy and stressful. This is why from new years I was planing to play 100 games a day, work more on my game expand to different formats learn 18 mans study ICM more advanced spots for 6 max hypers, work more heavily on HU game, do more equity calculations (hand vs hand, hand vs range, range vs range, hand vs range post flop etc) practice more theory stuff for certain raise/calling raise/folding fold to 3 4 bet 5 bet stuff etc
It may sound like I am preparing to fly to moon but I really find joy and happiness and very much look forward to improve learn and move forward my game cause I believe that is what it takes to stay ahead of curve and not worry about your future in poker.
Life balance is sacrificed until end of this year in a sense that I don't see my best friend every day, broke up with my gf yesterday, I don't go to Partizan matches as much as I did or visit sport events but instead of this happening daily I try to make it happen on weekly basis to keep things happening... From January I will list (or before it) places I plan to travel and visit in 2014 and other life things - believe it will help a lot keep track of it and focus and making it all happen. Ideal schedule for me would be waking up 8am, getting to office by 9am and finishing all my working on the game/coaching/grinding + meals with brakes by 6-7pm and have the rest of the day off. I am starting to grind longer sessions now to make it happen (like 3 -4 hour sets) but it takes time like with everything in life to become a steady habit.

I hope your grinding is going well and that DS has passed on 100s, wish I can help you out in some way like you are doing for me on many occasions - one big THANK YOU for all the support and help!

You are also invited to come to Nis, build that home and come here to celebrate it
