i tried laddering on lordaeron and kalimdor cant find games :/

I dislike garena and I just use bnet. are you using a high level account? If you make a new one (which I always do), it's pretty easy to get games, especially in team games (3v3).

I used to be a die hard fan of TFT back in the day. I read somewhere you were a pro, what was your SN ?

he's gosubay. i used to play him on garena back then. plays NE

Do you play regularly against many other PS coaches? Or even PS members?

Pretty sure mbml is better.

@mbml: Who do you consider the best nl200 zoom and nl500/nl1k zoom regs?

One more question about GTO.
I started thinking about each move when I call down or bet about GTO, and I think I already improved a lot because before I was bluffing too often and calling down too wide whenever I think opponent bluffs.

Now, can you give me a tipp, how do you determine (in a fast way) if a hand you hold is in 60% of your range which you call e.g. on river?

Example hand:

Board is:
AhJh8d7d6s

Opponent is aggro regg and was betting F and T and R and I need to make a decision weather I call on river with AsTs, positions CO vs BU.

So what would be the fast way to determine if AT is in 60% of my range on river? Many hands are easy, like sets, 2 pairs straights, and then some weak Ax are easy fold on river, but I am not sure about hands which are marginal how to know if it is call or fold?
I could see fast that I have probably around 10 combos of busted fd on river which I have to fold, and from value hands I have few combos of weak Axs and AT which is stronger Ax, 4 combos 9Ts, 3 sets.
So when I list all value, I can see that AT is call, because I fold busted draws which are already probably 40% range?

On river is maybe easier to figure it out fast, but on flop still I need to call 60% and range is wider? On flop I would fold all 22-77, and continue fd, KQ, QTs, Jx, Ax, 88, 9Ts hands, so it seems that on flop I fold very little.

The regs I play the most against aren't from PS (None at NL1000, very few at 500, mostly at 200). But I do remember playing against certain people from PS
-LgWz
-Rio
-learnfriend
-BrokeSoBad
-pleno

I'm sure there are many others who I am unable to recall.

you should be doing the work off the tables and you will know the answer naturally. Here I don't know how often you slowplay T9 and 2pairs/sets. I assume you wouldn't raise A7/A6s and you 3bet AK preflop. AT is probably my cutoff point here, since you should have some JX hands here

You should mostly be counting hands not in terms of combos, but just the hand itself. So if I quickly analyze the situation, you should have 2PGK, TP, and some straights/weaker 2p.

T9s
A6s
A7s
AQ
AT
A9s
A5s
A4s
A3s
A2s
KJ
QJ

so top 60 % should be somewhere at A9s or A5s

Ok, I see your method. So it will not be always 100% accurate, but sometimes we call a bit more hands sometimes we fold bit more, what is important in the long run we have around 60% call river?
And naturally as a quick method of deciding weather to call I call all TPGK draws which improved and fold all 2nd pairs and weak Ax if I have many of them. Now if there are busted draws on river, I can call all Ax hands (since I will have more busted draws which I have to fold) and also opponent will bluff more. Ok, it seems that I was doing this by default already without thinking about GTO.

I think when you sorted all the hands on river, you just included the hands which have showdown value, and you didnt include busted draws. I raise some of the draws, so I have few of them as well, so it is probably better to call all Ax?

I just got another idea about counting the combos.
Since I have 2nd pairs and top pairs (which are the mayority of combos) I can group them and eliminate. So 2nd pairs are QJ, KJ, and we then eliminate top pairs AQ, AT and forget about them.
Then the rest is busted draws which I fold (few combos), and the rest of weaker Ax hands, so then I need to make a border at lower end of sortet Ax hands (because I need 60% call) which means A4s or A5s?
Do you like this approach?

find whatever works for you, whatever i suggested is still an approximation at the end of the day. there is no substitute for hard work off the tables

awesome thread, nice to see you putting in so much effort to give quality answers containing lots of valuable learning information :)

my question: what would be the minimum amount of hands full time zoom player should be able to put in per month when playing his usual "grinding limit"?

Hey mbml and guys!

Thanks for the thread, already loving it.

Q: From what stake does one have to take coaching in your opinion? Lets say a true beginner starts with a BR of $100 and starts playing nl4. Thing is there is a ton of value on pokerstrategy.com but a coach can be helpful no matter how much material there is online.

Hi mbml,
great thread :f_thumbsup:

How often(if ever) do you get burnt out from playing? Before I used to think if one is consistently winning he can play all the time without burning out from playing and just print money like crazy. It doesnt seem to work that way tho, what do you think? What do you do to increase the maximum amount of play time without burning out?

Full time? I think any full time player should strive to play 150h a month at least. Number of hands depends on number of tables played of course.

It'll be great to start having one at NL25. before that it should be fairly easy to figure out how to play on your own.

In fact you should try getting coaching ASAP, it just saves so much more time. Though one problem is that you may not have the bankroll for it, and secondly, learning from low stakes coaches may not necessarily be a good thing.

For example you play NL10. You ask a NL25/50 player to teach u. He may be teaching u a bunch of wrong stuff.
